2018/19 Mid-price midfielders 6.0-7.5

Post by Tacalabala »

We're going to try something new this season. After the success we had with the budget defenders thread last season, we are going to experiment with big 'band' threads this season. We won't be stickying these, but if we see threads that are comparing like for like players, we might merge those in this rather than allow multiple threads which end up repeating previous discussions. We'll see how it goes...

yeah mkhy does seem stand out value but as said new manager so who knows how the team is going to shape up and playing Man City and Chelsea in the first two games... not expecting much out of that
but could make for interesting early wildcard options

Guilty on both charges re new bod: but Mkh is class and was brought in to rekindle the Aubething connection?

I haven't looked into Dick yet (beyond a BBC thing about him being good at bringing through yoofs), but he was manager on the rise until he got Neymarred? And he\they are linked with defenders not attackers for the first time in decades....

A lot of love for Mkhi but as carver mentioned I reckon Ramsey is better value for just 0.5 more. I recall seeing an article when Emery was appointed that he sees Ramsey as central to his plans. Injuries always an issue though.

I've got Keita in there atm. Decent goal and assist numbers in the Bundesliga, could be a bonus magnet, not bad fixtures for Liverpool early doors.

I really like Siggy at 7.5m now Rooney has gone - should hopefully play in the hole consistently now. Set pieces, great early fixtures and a new manager - he was one of the first in my first draft. :!:

In fact, initially the whole 7-7.5m price point looks strong to me, with Willian (if a new manager or a move happens) and the Arsenal boys too.

Mkhitaryan for 7.0 seems like a mistake. Their fixtures are not great but at that price I have to take him. Siggy, Walcott and Ramsey are also priced very kindly.

milivojevic (6.5) have proven in last season, on spot kick and starting 11 as well so should be justified with his price tag ....

cheers.

I think he didn't take last or last two pens. I remember rant mode being activated here on FISO. If he is not on pens, then he seems a bit pricey.

IIRC, he let Benteke take a last-minute pen when they were miles ahead in the game as a gesture because of their disagreement earlier in the season

yes, those are the four that jumped out to me, I don't want two mids from Everton and Arsenal but I can see me starting with one of each.

Willian is another, especially if he can become an automatic 1st team choice (or he gets the oft rumoured move to United)

Does anybody have an opinion on Elyounoussi? He is £6.5m and is new at Southampton. At Basel last season he made 44 appearances in all competitions, scoring 13 and assisting 17. In the Champions League he made 8 appearances (1 as a sub), scoring 2 and assisting 2. Most of you might remember him scoring and assisting at the Etihad in March albeit the game was pretty much a dead rubber after City won the 1st leg 4-0 in Switzerland.

At the age of 23, he seems pretty exciting and could be the next to move to parent club Liverpool. His early fixtures are BUR, eve, LEI, pal, BHA. He has enough to hit in any of those games in my opinion. Ownership stands at just 1.4% currently. There is enough to suggest he is worth risking on in the early weeks but if anyone wants to put me off then feel free!

Thing is at 6.5m there are plenty of frauds like Walcott who can at least offer the security of you knowing you will get burned. The new boys will come with all the expectation and failure will be harder to take. I'd let the new players settle in first and see how Saints line up.

I'd rather punt on Richalison again tbh

The pull of the Carlos K has started....Yarmolenko won't do anything, playing for West Ham.... will he?? Previously linked with most of the spurs/Chelsea standard of club a couple of years ago.

Didn't have much luck at Dortmund last year but an unknown quantity of an attacking player. Why do we always want them and not heed previous experience??

7 million though....

Yarmolenko clearly has quality, but if any 7m West Ham asset looks worth punting then on it's Arnie for me (and I sure wouldn't be thinking of starting with more than one attacker given their fixtures).

Willian. Sarri has said in an interview he is untouchable along with Hazard, and that he wouldn't sign on without a guarantee the two would stay.
