For those who like a bit of a gamble, Hudson Odoi is 4.5 and i'm tempted to have him as my fifth mid.

Sarri says today he'll be in the first team squad this season. He's probably looked our best player in pre-season, and with Willian and Hazard having no pre-season training so far I reckon he's a favourite to start at least the first game.

He looks incredible and there is so little in that price bracket but you'll probably end up regretting it. 99% of the time it is a early transfer waiting to happen. Lets face it, if he does end up playing regularly it isn't going to be difficult to get him in.

Will Hughes is for sure on my radar as Watford tend to start strong with a breakout player. Ighalo, Capoue and Richarlison last year...could easily be Will Hughes this year?

I think he's only a transfer waiting to happen if he starts to tumble in price. At 4.5mn, wildcards aside, people won't be in a rush to remove him unless he doesn't start the first game, which is the major risk - (even then will people waste a transfer, given that most of the people that own him will likely be experienced players?). He's been in my squad for a while, lovely base price rotation option who will of course be in my xi to begin with.

Does anyone know whether Paterson is a likely starter at Cardiff? Not thinking about him for FPL but he is a very cheap defender in Sky.

Cardiff fans seem to be mixed on whether Paterson will start. Pre season inconclusive.

Cheers. Makes it hard to pick him when the is nowhere to go if he doesn't play.

Yeah, although at least on Sky there is the overhaul if it backfires.

He was excellent when he played last season (which wasn't often enough), I'm a fan, I hope he has a great season.

In the time he played he returned plenty. Returning 2 goals and 3 assists in under 1,000 minutes is pretty impressive for a cheap Watford mid.

James McArthur is perhaps slipping under the radar a bit. There's actually quite a lot of potential in that 5.0 bracket... Cairney, Neves, McArthur, Hughes, Noble, Costa, Kenedy

He is certainly on my list as he was mentioned as a leftfield Russia pick by people like Nevin as opposed to fwits like Shearer.

Any idea re Kiko and starting matches, or who your defence will be at 4.5m?

I'm guessing McArthur's place is threatened by the signings of Meyer and Kouyaté. In the centre of a 4-4-2 I'd expect to see Milivojević and probably Meyer eventually. I think McArthur will play a lot fewer minutes this season, decent player though he is.

I'm also a fan of Hughes, really liked what I saw of him last season. My top of the 5.0 picks having switched him in and out of my team (too many times) due to my formational tinkering..

Anyone else going with Stephens from Brighton at 4.5? Played a lot for them last season. Any other 4.5's look good? Chalobah for Watford? Masuaku?

I currently have Schneiderlin - I don't really know how nailed he is.

Good point above re McArthur - I'd forgotten about Meyer tbh.

I’m currently on Stephens, he seems to be the safest two-point merchant of them all. The other two you mention are better but carry some element of risk right now. I’d like Chalobah but he’s carrying an injury I believe and who knows if Masuaka will play? Whoever I end up on will be my third sub.

That's the way I read it also, dino. Stephens looks pretty safe in S1 on the bench to collect 2 points each week hopefully.

I’ve toyed with rotating Kenedy and Cairny as My fourth and fifth mids but always find a better use of that .5.

Stephens here as well; had all sorts of problems with players losing value in my S3 position last year because I was too greedy. Hoping he is a set and forget.

think Brighton might end up with Propper/Bissouma CM pairing personally when everyone up to scratch. With Gross as the 10

I've decided to go with "Wee Man" Ryan Fraser (and King) in my team again. Have had him many times before and usually ended up on him missing out through injury. Nice fixtures and it seems he is full of confidence after a tough 2017/2018 season, so here's hoping he will stay fit and in form.

Every big-priced Chelsea attacker seems like a high risk to have, but with CHO, it's a low risk and potentially a high reward.

Am I missing something? Why has no one mentioned Fellaini at 5m?

Surely he's a bargain isn't he?
