Yesterday Saiss and Dendoncker started in Carabao Cup. Can they start as CB in PL, and if so, is it most likely Bennett who will drop out?
Bennett has done nothing wrong this season so far, but Dendoncker is a better player. Long term I would think Dendoncker will come in on the right side of the back three but Nuno now has a decision to make as to when he makes the change.

Can't see Saiss coming back in unless Wolves suffer injuries or suspensions.

Isn't Dendoncker a DM that can also play CB? In which case he is covering 2 positions. But what I have read is that Wolves expect him to need some time to get up to speed anyway and Bennett has been very good thus far according to reports.

That is all true.
Sporting director Kevin Thelwell told the Express & Star that Dendoncker had been on Wolves’ radar for some time.

“He’s a young talent that lots of people have looked at,” Thelwell said.

“We like his versatility in that he play as a defensive midfielder, on the right of the back three or as a holding centre-back.

“We’d tracked him for a long time and the timing was right for us to get him in.

“It’ll take him a while to adapt because the standard and pace of the Premier League is very different to the Belgian league.

“He went to the World Cup but even though they’d have been training every day they will have been ticking over as opposed to doing physical development.

“It might take him a little while longer to get up to the same physical level as the others.

“But from what we’ve seen we think we’ve got a player who will help us in due course – once he’s settled in we think he’s really going to strengthen the group.”
It is unlikely that Nuno would split the Neves/Moutinho partnership in the middle of the park unless he was forced to through injury or suspension so Bennett's position is probably the most vulnerable to Dendoncker (who played well last night against Sheff Wed although he wasn't exactly tested that much).

Is it time for Diego Rico, people?

He started in midfield at the weekend and was bombing forward, setting up Wilson for a sitter and racking up the BPS.

Rico has started great. Problem is, defence is the most competitive FPL position by far atm.

As long as W-B and Bennett start it's really hard going for the 4.5m guys, especially in a meta where the other picked defenders tend to be premiums (who you don't bench rotators for).

A Wan-Bissaka and Rico rotation in a 4atb system might be possible, but WB has decent enough fixtures on his own anyway, and even then Bennett is in a better defence than Rico for 0.5m less (albeit without the attacking/bonus threat). Might prove OK short term cover for, say, a TAA type, but I'd be playing someone like Robertson over Rico regardless of the fixture I think.

Another one who, like Holebas, I do like the look of, but can't for the life of me see how to utilise in the current climate.

I think WB and Rico both get the nod over Robertson in GW5 and over Mendy in GW8, with them rotating nicely in GW6, GW7, GW9 and GW10, so yes, part of a back 3/4 rotation strategy in the medium term effectively with one playing in 4 of the next 6 weeks and both playing in 2 of the next 6. By GW11 a decision will need to be made over whether to keep Rico or shift him on, but I see it as +EV in terms of getting ahead of the curve with his potential points returns.

Is anyone considering Doherty? Price has dropped to 4.4 and looks very attacking. Is he worth the extra 0.4 compared to Bennet though...

I put him in already in place of peltier. Wolves are solid and he plays wingback, so likely to provide attacking returns too. Plus great home fixtures coming

I had him and was relatively happy with his stats etc but I had to sacrifice him for Alonso. I do still have Tomkins and I'm tempted to jump back but that will be a WC call I think.

Good shout. Improving fixtures, and a decent rotation option with some of the other cheapies too.

Another sound performance at Brighton this week and he’ll be in a few GW9 wildcard squads, I’d say.

I will probably sell AWB for him around GW10. They might even be the same price by then. Or Balbuena.

I've brought Balbuena in this morning, the fella stinks of future bandwagon:

Threat
Insanely good fixtures
4.4
Defensive manager
Scored last week

I also brought in Balbuena this week, and am very disappointed with his 1-point return in a plum fixture!

Still has great potential over the coming weeks though, should prove to be a canny buy.

I've brought him in too. Agree with the above except the part about a defensive manager?

We're talking about a coach who takes off strikers for defenders when they're chasing a deficit.

TBL, don't lose faith, I'm looking forward to seeing the highlights.

Possibly worth noting that Peltier (CAR) has returned to the squad (on the bench this afternoon) and has dropped to 3.8m.

Worth looking at if you're happy having a 3rd sub who sits there and is in contention for playing to free up funds

Of the 4.3 or less defenders that I don't already own and are currently getting playing time, would you please rank them from 1 to 5? #1 would be the one that will start the most games and #5 the one that will start least games (this would be for the next 10 GW's) . . .

1. Kiko F (Watford) - 4.3
2.Maariappa (Watford) - 4.2
3. Kongolo (Huddersfield) - 4.3
4. Diop (WH) - 4.3
5. Zabaletta (WH) - 4.3

To me the West Ham guys are more nailed than the Watford ones. My pick would be Diop of those

In the hunt for a cheap defender as I need a Jonny replacement and have 2FT this week, no point wasting a transfer.

Alonso, Robertson will start in a back three every week. Doherty will join them except for GW15 (CHE), GW18 (LIV) and GW20 (tot). Wan-Bissaka is in there too and can cover probably cover GW15, but has terrible fixtures in 18 and 20.

I don't see the point of adding Bennett as he'll be useless for those tough Wolves' fixtures, so I'm thinking one of Balbuena/Diop/Zabaleta on the basis that they've got a nice GW15 (CAR), GW18 (WAT) and GW20 (bur). Can any Hammers fans shed any light on how nailed these guys are, especially over Xmas? Surely Zabaleta's age means he cant be starting every December game... Also not mad on a defensive double up with Fabianski but struggling to see much other sub 4.4m value. :?

Lewis Dunk has 4 decent fixtures coming up. He is 4.5 though.

Edit : but it looks like Trippier is the problem in your team.

Balbuena or Diop the best, pretty much a coin flip
