2018/19 Goalkeepers
We're going to try something new this season. After the success we had with the budget defenders thread last season, we are going to experiment with big 'band' threads this season. We won't be stickying these, but if we see threads that are comparing like for like players, we might merge those in this rather than allow multiple threads which end up repeating previous discussions. We'll see how it goes...

Re: 2018/19 Goalkeepers
The prices of Leno at 5m at Arsenal and Fabianski (now with Pellegrini) at 4.5m were the ones that stood out to me on my first look through. But West Ham's early fixtures are pretty atrocious and Arsenal start with a not ideal (MCI, che), so not sure on either.
I wouldn't pick them together for 9.5m, but perhaps both of those options are individually best left till after the WC - with fixture-based cheapies in their place in the mean time.

Re: 2018/19 Goalkeepers
Pope\Heaton 5m with a move to Anfield and McThing 4.5 at Soton are my best guess atm.
But then as with the Arse bod, is it worth using one of Lpool's 3 spots with a GK?

2 x 4.5 for me as per previous years see no need to change it
McCarthy looks solid at 4.5 then I might dabble into
the promoted teams
Wolves have a small pitch which I had a weird theory about at one point being good for fpl (more saves )

Guaiti was bought in to be No. 1, as I understand it but Hennessey has signed a new contract and I'm not sure he would have done that unless he as at least a chance of keeping hold of the jersey.ZeroRemorse wrote: ↑08 Jul 2018, 12:02 Who's the starting goalkeeper at CPL now that they purchased Guaiti?

Foster signed for Watford too after rumours Gomes is going to Brazil.
If he's 4.5m he could be a good choice with Watford having good fixtures to start of with.

Re: 2018/19 Goalkeepers
thinking about it yes, I expect him to top score again and United to have a very strong defence, want a route into that defence but can't see anything at the moment from the defenders, they are supposedly scouting as many as EIGHT central defenders and still have Jones/Smalling/Rojo/Bailly/Blind/Lindelof it's ridiculous. They won't sign eight but at least one looks likely. Pre season might clear things up - I'd like Shaw to become 1st choice at just 5m, but DDG is still the safest choice, can just play him all season.
I'm currently on a 4.5 & 4.0 so having DDG means finding another 1.5m, not sure what to do.

Pickford, Leno and Karius offer great value at 5.0 imo. I will probably start with Pickford and switch to Leno on my wildcard.

Is Leno going to be arsenal number 1 without a doubt yeah? I’m currently on Pickford as I like Everton’s starting games. I’m normally a DDG and leave it type player though.

Re: 2018/19 Goalkeepers
Does anyone know how well DDG did in the second part of the season? I remember looking at him at some point and he was both keeping clean sheets at the rate of a premium keeper but also making saves like a cheapie keeper.
It was a potent combination, and I wonder if it continued through the whole season?

Klopp said he's going to put faith in Karius and is blaming the concussion from Ramos as the reason for the mistakes in the UCL final.

Re: 2018/19 Goalkeepers
Any 4.0m GK likely to start? If so, I may well go Karius or Pickford. I like Fab at 4.5m but can't really find another 4.5m keeper who rotates with him.
Not convinced the extra for DDG is worth it (Karius matched him for ppg last season and Dubravka and Pope were only a touch behind).

Have a Gomez as a rotation pair with Fabianski - if he leaves I have to see but I guess WHM/WAT could be a good rotation pair.Aldershot Rejects wrote: ↑08 Jul 2018, 16:56 Any 4.0m GK likely to start? Really annoyed that Rui Patricio isn't included on the game yet. He was/is going to be in my team. Think it's almost embarrassing that he is currently omitted when more recent arrivals into the PL have been included and he is a very well known player.

Re: 2018/19 Goalkeepers
As it stands he is officially a Wolves player but Sporting are after £40m in return for his move. That money works out to his minimum release clause and what the cost of his wages would have been if he had seen out the remaining 2 years of his contract. How the situation effects the chances of Rui Patricio playing are unclear. He terminated his contract (as did several others) before agreeing his move to Wolves. I'm sure it it clear though that Sporting will look to get what they can from the 9 or 10 players who left because they can't afford to lose them all for nothing.Vincent Black Shadow wrote: ↑09 Jul 2018, 11:00Isn't his move going through the court of abrbitraitons?ThingsCouldGetMessi wrote: Really annoyed that Rui Patricio isn't included on the game yet. A double up on Everton with Pickford and Stekelenburg could be a good shout. 5m & 4m and you can set and leave during their opening fixtures of wol SOU bou HUD WHU ars FUL lei CPL. Apart from Arsenal they all look decent enough fixtures plus a guaranteed starter and no stress of picking the wrong one from a rotating pair.

Re: 2018/19 Goalkeepers
5.0 Pickford and 4.0 Norris atm come in on budget.
Hoping Pickford starts the season after the world cup matches. I do not want to blow GK free transfers unless necessary.
Any info on Wolves prefered goalkeeper would be appreciated.

Re: 2018/19 Goalkeepers
Yeah, this has been my tactic for about the past 3/4 seasons. I generally prefer not to have choice in FPL - hence this goalkeeper idea, a 4.5 mid or forward who's a sub every week and actually I quite like a 4.0 defender so that I only have to pick 3 from 4 every week. I think, someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but is the only 8.5 keeper pairing at Bournemouth this time as things stand? If so, definitely worth the extra 0.5 to take Pickford and Stekelenberg, assuming that they both remain as 1 and 2 at Everton.Beacon wrote: ↑10 Jul 2018, 22:50 A double up on Everton with Pickford and Stekelenburg could be a good shout. 5m & 4m and you can set and leave during their opening fixtures of wol SOU bou HUD WHU ars FUL lei CPL.
