I don't have access to the data but he's still been reasonable by the eye test and had some near miss free kicks recently

christensen could be great value if fit but are we stupid in taking the risk?

Christensen: Why do it to yourselves? Who has had a decent FPL points run from him this season? Who had the nightmare of 1 point in 10 games* around Christmas.
An argument for Alonso/Azpi is that it is a good store of cash and one easy downgrade to upgrade F1 to Kane for the back end of the season.

*No, it wasn’t that bad, but I do recall the anxiety he caused

You make some good points SP.. Image I'm not getting Christensen again, no sir no.

Alonso is an entirely different prospect for 7.2 . Even multiple Chelsea doesn't cover his points, as I found out the hard way. If anything, I'm debating whether to get him or Willian.

Like it apart from Smalling.

Also not sure Murray will get much out of his double to make him worth the price.

For now it's:

DdG (Hennessey)
Alonso Monreal Mee (Dunk Naughton)
Salah Silva Mahrez Groß (Milivojevic)
Firmino Deeney Aubameyang

1.7 ITB for upgrading one of the Arsenal players and probably selling Silva.

I seem to have chosen quite a few GW 35 players but so be it. Having the best possible team for all 7/8 weeks is the objective and I'm not focusing too much on DGWs, although they are a factor.

A lot of teams going without Aguero for the double it seems, no body concerned if he is back?

My guess is he won't play (eve). Usually does well in the Manchester Derby but Aubameyang covers 32-33 better.

He'll be prominent in late WCing teams (35 onward). Depends a lot on City's CL fate though, hence the reluctance right now.

About 80 points behind in my mini-league although I have all chips and he has used WC and FH. Any thoughts on best way to recover a lot of points . Currently on

Pope, Hennessey (although will go)

VDH, Tarkowski, Lascellas, Chillwell, Naughton
Silva, Son, Salah, Willian, Mahrez,
PEA, Firminho, Vardy

Midfield isn't going to stay like that, was just catching rises to keep options open. Will get in a cheap midfielder maybe for Silva. Given the points gap, might be worth tripling up on a defence and hoping they come good.

For those who have all chips left the tactic must be:
WC 32/33 - get in 15 players with a double GW34 and as many as possible from teams who also have double GW37 (man u, chelsea, spurs, Leicester)
BB 34
FH 35
TC 37
With that in mind my WC is something like:
Fabianski, Dubravka
Bailly, Lowton, Davies, VDH, Morgan
Mahrez, Sterling, Willian, Son, Salah
Lukaku, Vardy, Barnes
Keeping Salah in because he could outscore double week players anyway. Also will probably have Aubamayang for Arsenal's two home games in 32 and 33 and then bring in Lukaku

To be honest, I'd consider using TC on Salah (STO) in 36, Salah (HUD) in 38, Lukaku (WAT) in 38, Kane (WAT) in 36 or Aguero (SWA) in 35 so the WC isn't spread too thin over multiple gws.

Both's possible.

Cech | Fabianski
Smalling | Mustafi | Lowton | Van der Hoorn | Mariappa
Salah | Mahrez | Antonio | Willian | Ki Sung-yueng
Lukaku | Aubameyang | Wood

I don't think the FH has to be used in 35 at all tbh.

My plan is WC32, BB34, FH35, TC37. Within my 11 core players, the more DGW the better for me.

My WC team, BOLD for regular play, 3-4-3 formation, 0.0 itb:

DDG, Fabianski
Alonso, Valencia, Lowton, Morgan, VDH
Salah, Son, Mahrez, Willian, McArthur
Auba, Firmino, Vardy

Non DGW34: Salah, Firmino (on form), McArthur (to save cost for Valencia instead of Bailly)
Non DGW37: Salah, Auba, Firmino. At DGW27, I can downgrade Firmino and upgrade Auba to Kane.

My concerns are

(1) time risks of VDH --> I don't have answer myself.

(2) consider between Valencia + McArthur or Bailly + Kenedy. --> I think Valencia can produce some attacking return to cover for the difference in point of Kenedy vs. McArthur in GW34.

They've now pretty much removed that option to pick for both with their questionable selection of which fixtures will be played in 34.

Got this as a draft at the moment giving me 12 players with DGW34. Will move out some Arsenal players for bench boost in GW34, then free hit in GW35. Not fully considered DGW 37 yet so all subject to change!!!

It looks good but how many points do you really expect from Brighton players with TOT, cry?

You could easily be bench boosting in single digits with that lot.

True regarding Brighton though they have 2 home fixtures in GW32 and GW33 and Murray is getting goals. Cheap defenders for DGW...what's the altetmative?

The GW32 fixture isn't too relevant as I imagine they will be on the bench for most people. I wouldn't expect a clean sheet against Leicester anyway. The HUD fixture in GW33 is useful though as it covers DDG and possibly a Man Utd defender who play City that week.

There just doesn't seem much of an upside for the DGW which is a shame. It's annoying that there's no decent mid range options like Arnautovic with a DGW34 otherwise I'd have been tempted to downgrade a midfielder and use the cash to improve the bench boost spots. It seems like only premium players or rotters with nothing in-between.

This is true. In fact, I'm debating cheap DGWers with good SGW prospects in filler positions.

Ryan vs Hennessey
Mee vs Lascelles, Chilwell vs Mariappa/Naughton

Milivojevic at M5
Murray vs Deeney

From 32-34, which ones would you prefer here STC?

So after a bit of playing I'm liking the look of:

DDG, Ryan
Alonso, Smalling, Tarkowski, Lowton, Morgan
Salah, Mahrez, Son, Willian, JWP
Lukaku, Vardy, Firmino

Nothing in the bank so can hopefully make 0.1 out of Aubameyang to allow Smalling to Jones if he loses his place. Would prefer the extra for Bailly but not sure where I can find that from.

I’m similar but a little less Brighton heavy.

Currently:

DDG Ryan
Bailly Christensen Mustafi Morgan Lowton
Salah Mahrez Son Willian Gudmundsson
Aubameyang Vardy Wood

Concerns with that;
Christensen, because Christensen. Owned him over Christmas when he was ill but he seems a starter now?
Willian? Same as above really? But not owned him yet this season.
Bailly? First choice CB?
Wood, should be first choice for Burnley now fit? I may ask Tall Paul for more info on that.

Save FT 33 and Auba  Lukakau and Mustafi  Vertonghen in GW34 with 2FT’s.

BB34 with 14 doublers and FH my way out in 35.

Worry about 37 later but there’s already 11 players in that 15 for GW34 that have a DGW37 too.

Burnley play Leicester in GW 34. What are we expecting from this game? Moreover, Burnley's other DGW match is even harder (CHE). Only plus is, they are both home games.

Don't see the point in loading up with their players unless I'm not FHing 35.

They’re effectively going to be my bench players.

Lowton in particular great value at 4.4

Playing the WC this week with the intention of BB in GW 34, FH GW 35 and TC GW 37.

I am facing three challenges:

Kane back for DGW 34? Home to Man City (focussed on CL by then) and away to Brighton.

Arsenal (Aube) great fixtures in GW 32 and GW 33, but only one away game at Newcastle in GW 34

Are three Liverpool players too much for DGW playing BB (Robertson, Salah and Firminho)?

Any thoughts?

Pretty much similar with my team apart from Dunk instead of Tarkowski and Ibe instaed of JWP. What do you think about that? Is there any option for 5th mid in GW34?

Here's where I am atm....

DDG - Ryan
Lowton - Smalling - Monreal - Christensen - Morgan
Salah - Mahrez - Son - Mkhi - Willian
Barnes - Auba - Vardy

DGW34 2 free transfres. Auba  Lukaku & Monreal or Mkhi  not sure atm :?:
Free hit GW35.
Triple captain next DGW.
We'll see how that pans out .....

The change in DGW fixtures has confirmed what I suspected: managers give too much importance to DGWs. So much so, that Swansea defenders have disappeared after being doubled up yesterday..

An extra game is 2 points if you pick the wrong player. A good SGW signing covers that and then some.
