GW13 Captain

Post by swadd1er »

I know there’s Premier League clubs involved in games every day between today and Thursday but i’ll allow re-voting for that reason. I would imagine a few would have made their minds up already so i’ll get this underway. There’s a lot of viable candidates.

Kane has his last chance to shine for me. Kane(C), Jesus/Pogba(VC)

Undecided between Sane, Jesus and Kane. Depends on how all fair midweek, especially the Jesus one.

Currently leaning towards Sane again.

Lukaku(C)
Kane(VC)

Since that Real Madrid game, Spurs look very uninspired and sluggish. I expected they would be flying after that big win against RM, but just the opposite happened.
WBA looks awful at the back though, but it seems that even the worst teams manage to find some special inspiration when playing at Wembley.
As for United, offensively they look like totally another team with Pogba back and although Brighton looks to be defensively well organized team it could be too much for them.

That could change after the CL games of course, but as of now, I would much rather captain player from an in-form team against tougher opposition than the other way around.

Currently on Pogba (C) Vertonghen (V), but I might relent and give Lukaku the captaincy back after I've worked out if he was showing signs of improvement with Pogba back.

Can be a psychophysiological drain after such a big occasion. It's not unheard of.

Not so many consider City player, Why? They will play Huddlesfield... Big chance for a 5-0 game.

Because it's impossible to ever know which ones will/won't start

If Aguero plays 90 mins this midweek and Jesus/Sane sit out as seems likely, those 2 are definitely good options for (c) at the weekend. Huddersfield are rubbish and lucky to have as many points as they do.
With no INT breaks now and a few midweek rounds of EPL I think it's going to be a bit easier to read the Man City rotations and have more confidence in captaining their players.

Doesn't mather if they start, they all will still score, with good potential of a haul.

If Aguero does play 90 midweek does that pretty much confirm he's done in the PL (as in used 90 outside the PL, and a bench player in the PL)? I'm looking for reasons to shift, but he's still the player most likely to haul massively in my mind.

Edit. Just seen Pulis has been sacked.

No it doesn't mean that. Many people forgot Jesus played a few matches in South America in Sep and Oct. This time Aguero played in the international break too and lo and behold he's left out right after. I personally think Jesus is first choice striker but that will likely be bad for him in FPL when the UCL KO rounds start.
For now I think it's safe to assume sonething, that if one of them plays 90 mins and the other 0 minutes and there's another match 4 days later.

Bacially i think the Pep rotation will be easier to read than folk are making out, especially these next few weeks. And nailing good City captain choices could be massive as they're the best team by a mile.

West Brom now potentially managerless, makes Kane that bit more appealing

If the players weren't play for Pullis then maybe they might show some fight. Not sure if his sacking actually improves Kanes chances or lessens them ...

Yeah, I think this makes him marginally less appealing tbh

DIdn't have a chance to watch the whole Utd game but Lukaku actually looked pretty good. Just happy I have them both. Will have to see how things go and then make a decision. Imagine I will be my usual boring self and just captain the poll winner.

Actually if Pulis was still in charge you could imagine him going to Wembley and shut up shop which is what we don't want knowing that Spurs find it hard to break down the weaker teams at home.

What we want is for West Brom to play an open game to allow Kane to grab a few goals. I think that's more likely without Pulis in charge.

You don't think their caretaker manager will set them up not to lose?

Given that their caretaker manager is former West Brom and Bolton manager Gary Megson - a man whose teams are famed for playing even more negative football than Pulis teams - it's almost certain he'll set them up that way.

That said, they are still a bit of a shambles at the minute, so Kane could do well. It's him or Sané for me.
