Doubled up on Sterling and Silva.
I'd prefer KDB but would lose on out a big hitter up top.

I had earmarked cash for Alli to hazard this week but had my going cold on the idea
Have Jesus already , can afford De Bruyne but just seems to me like he will be an utter frustration . Sterling offers the most threat ? It's just the guarantee of minutes why you would go for de Bruyne?
Sterling has 60,90,90,90 last 4 isn't it fair to say he is first choice ?

I think you have to accept that there will be rotation/reduced minutes but this is negated by the sheer volume of goals they are scoring, so it doesn't really matter - or at least it hasn't so far.math! wrote: ↑15 Oct 2017, 18:28Aguero didn't play the last two though. Normally I try to avoid players who aren't nailed or may feature in regular rotation, but City are proving the exception to that rule, Sterling already has two games where he has scored 6 points in 45m and 13 points in 60min. If they are on the bench then they can still score in the last 20 as City don't ease up. The way City are at the moment I'm prepared to ignore my normal rules for selecting players and just jump in. It just looks too dangerous to go without them.

Re: What Man City Midfielder?
So is the conventional wisdom that:
When City are playing a team with 4 at the back they play a 3-5-2 and Sane and Sterling dont start (If Aguero is fit).
If they play a team with 3 at the back they play a 3-4-3 and Sane and Sterling start (or Jesus goes out wide).
Next two games are against Burnley and WBA, i would be reluctant to bring in Sane and Sterling at least until the Arsenal game.

No, I don't see that to be the case at all, TU. I just commented about this here. But in short, I'd expect Pep to mainly stick with the 4-3-3 he has used in every game since Mendy was injured.

Ideally Sterling will be rested for Champions League or plays 60 min. Whatever happens just make sure you have your bench in good order! Think it will depend on when we see Aguero appear too. If he plays 30 min or so then God knows what line-up we might get for the weekend.

Is having 3 city attackers overkill or the way forward?

Re: What Man City Midfielder?
well if you had Silva, Sterling, Sane since the start you would be flying, they are 2,3,4 in the midfielders and also well priced, you question is if you think it will continue?
I can see City breaking the goal scored record this season, and I think the title will basically be the City attack v's the United defence.
Any team that had DDG, Valencia and Jones with Silva Sterling Sane from the beginning would have 300+ points just from those six.
Personally I think City will continue to score heavily, I can't see Pep just grinding out results, the odd game like the Chelsea fixture, but mostly they will just look to blow teams away.
And I can also see United being clear winners for clean sheets, so when I hit the WC in a few weeks I won't rule out three City attackers and I will have at least two United defenders and maybe DDG too!
Things can change quickly but do you think City will become 1-0 specialists?

This is the first season where I am considering a premium GK and that's purely down to DDG and Mourinho.

Re: What Man City Midfielder?
yes, I think certain FPL rules are being re-written this season.
The City attacking power is making a mockery of avoiding rotation risk players, I never have a premium keeper but how many clean sheets will United get. Even in the big games they look fixture proof, two consecutive clean sheets at Liverpool, clean sheet at City last season.
Like I said things can change, but I can't see City becoming a low scoring team, and I can't see United shipping goals regularly.

That wouldn’t put me off at all. This is a Jose team. Keeping the opponents out is the priority in the ‘big’ games.

So the scores are in:
Sterling 70 mins tonight
Silva 76 mins
Jesus 87 mins
Sane full game
Aguero unused sub
Place your chips for the weekend gentleman.

It makes me want to do Eriksen to D. Silva, but two things are putting me off.
Firstly, I would be a few weeks too late, having missed quite some points and price rises already.
Secondly, does this subbing off mean he is facing competition over a starting spot or was he simply being rested for the final fifteen minutes?

I think Silva is as nailed as your going to get in the City midfield mate. I think the move depends on what you could do with the 1.2 mill saving. Maybe your plans for Aguero as well.

I don't think anyone can answer this - you can guess probably yes but if you are holding 3 City players you just need accept there will be rotation and get your bench sorted.

Re: What Man City Midfielder?
After last night, my guess is Sane and Aguero start on bench v Burnley, with Aguero getting his reintroduction for Jesus later in game. Maybe about time for Gundog to get a league start, would that mean Silva or KDB rested? Bernardo Silva got to be pushing for a start too.
I'll guess
KDB - Fernandinho - Gundog
B. Silva - Jesus - Sterling
I'll guess
KDB - Fernandinho - Gundog
B. Silva - Jesus - Sterling

Re: What Man City Midfielder?
Agree with this. After Saturday they have a league cup game where everyone can have a break until the next league game the following Sat.
The form they have been in recently, with an unchanged line up, it makes no sense to tinker.
Pep will definately change something now

So Sterling was the sacrificial lamb this week.
What are we thinking of the pecking order now lads.
Are City going to play the two Slvas against stubborn back fours to pick and probe a way through as opposed to Sterling and Sane?

I just think that if you want certainty, you'll need to pick either De Bruyne or D Silva. Otherwise, you just have to accept the rotation possibility.

Re: What Man City Midfielder?
I'm still thinking
------------Fernandinho-----------
----------KDB----------Silva----------
Sterling/Jesus----Aguero----Sane
is the team Pep will generally pick when everyone is fit - unless Kompany returning makes the 3atb system an alternative for the odd game. Sane has looked ridiculous recently and I'd propose he looks slightly safer than Sterling, but very much agree with bc2 (and seemingly everyone) that KDB and Silva are still likely the safest in midfield. I doubt Bernardo Silva will be anything more than a rare starter - I thought he as going to be play more central tbh, giving Silva a rest a few times in the season, but perhaps Gundog may fill that squad role?
I reckon it's always going to be a case of watching previous games' minutes with captaincy. E.g, if Jesus starts vs Wolves with Kun on the bench (or Jesus plays 90, Kun 60) then I'll be all over Kun(c) next weekend.

Re: What Man City Midfielder?
As a Silva owner despite the fact that he has not been rotated yet I'd still rather have Sane right now. Silva will either get a rest soon or unfortunately history suggests he'll get injured. Sane looks far more likely to score and has now outscored Silva from far fewer minutes.
I doubt I'll double up on the City midfielders. I'm happy with Otamendi and will want Aguero at some point. I have Jesus but for some reason I feel far happier taking the rough with the smooth in terms of benchings/hauls with Aguero than with Jesus.

Maybe they are safest but I think both of them will be outscored by Sterling and Silva anyway.

Re: What Man City Midfielder?
Sure, as FPL picks KDB still looks a tad expensive for that deepness, and Silva is never going to be a great goalscorer, so it's Sane that's the pick to me for now from the midfield - not sure Sterling is actually in their best 433 lineup is he? (Him or Jesus RW?) I've got him too, but I reckon the investment in a Liverpool mid soon could be the prudent, or to Alli/Eriksen in a few weeks, with their good fixture run.
