Re: Eric Dier and the 5.0m Spurs defenders.
Dier and Naughton retain their places for their Europa league game tonight. Davies and Vertonghen in for Rose and Kaboul...
Dier could be a decent shout but has already risen 0.1m. Hoping Davies has a good game and can keep Rose out the side

Nice, I'm hoping Pochettino is just resting Kaboul, and getting JV up to match fitness.
Walker, JV, Kaboul, Davies in the future please Mauricio!

Re: Eric Dier and the 5.0m Spurs defenders.
Hm, this is interesting. I was going to possibly watch this game as it was
Pochettino said recently how his view on the Europa is now different, he takes it seriously as the winner secures a spot in the CL. This qualifier is important for them if that's the case, almost makes me wonder if he rested Davies who's actually his real first choice LB can only wait and see i suppose. Which would be nice as he's now dropped to 4.9..
Dier, perhaps just being rewarded for a good performance. Can he just not tell us in a press conference

Re: Eric Dier and the 5.0m Spurs defenders.
Just checked the lineup, no Eriksen no Lamela.. brought in Soldado. Looks like he feels he'll walk over this team (AEL?!).
Doubts about Davies again then. Maybe Dier retaining his spot too..
Edit: AEL scored

Eric Dier
Looks a bargain at 5.1 but does anyone know how well he's played (other than the goals) and if he's likely to keep his place in the team when Walker returns / Naughton is back from suspension (I presume Dier is playing RB at the moment?).
Cheers.

Don't imagine he'll keep his place once Fazio joins and Walker is back.

Re: Eric Dier
Even if we dont bring anyone new in, not sure if he would take Kaboul's spot in the center.
my guess is he is our man for europa once walker in back

Re: Eric Dier
It confuses me the people are buying Dier, the bandwagoners have got lucky that he scored again, but I don't think he's in the first 11.

Shouldn't matter, Dier could/will replace Kaboul in the central position.lurker wrote:so the question is, whens walker back?

I disagree, he could, but Kaboul is the favourite.From4corners wrote:Shouldn't matter, Dier could/will replace Kaboul in the central position.lurker wrote:so the question is, whens walker back?

I think people are being blinded by the 2 in 2 for Dier. Certainly not worth bringing him in for the Liverpool game.

Re: Eric Dier
I agree i expect Pochettino to drop Dier for Naughton/Walker when he's back.. Kaboul has to remain at CB you'd think with Vertonghen. However it does start to play on your mind a bit when he's got off to a good start involved in two clean sheets and scored two goals? Can't ask for anymore. He could turn out to be one of those deceptive signings who just can't be left out due to performance.

Re: Eric Dier
I don't expect him to be dropped. Potty likes it tight, he played Chambers before Clyne remember. I think Dier has that spot to lose

Re: Eric Dier and the 5.0m Spurs defenders.
I don't know much about Spurs so this is a question rather than a view.
Surely Dier has two chances of remaining in the team. Firstly there's no guarantee that he'll lose his right back spot when Walker returns, but probably I agree.
But doesn't he have a chance of playing alongside Vertonghen as Spurs trying to spend £8 million on a new centre back, suggests that Kaboul isn't nailed on. So if they fail to land their target couldn't Dier seriously challenge for the Kaboul spot?

I think walker will take the right back spot pretty quickly. I'm not so sure of naughton though. Think dier could keep him out.Striker wrote:I don't know much about Spurs so this is a question rather than a view.

at centreback I don't think he can remove kaboul. For one now Dawson is gone the bull may well take the captain band and also when playing beside vertonghen you really need to be the destroyer type defender as vert is the ball playing type. But saying that if we don't sign Fazio kaboul isn't exactly well known for staying fit. It's all a bit up in the air at the minute.
He isn't a long haul player but worth keeping till he doesn't play as I'm sure there is another price rise to get.

I think hes in the same situation as Callum Chambers, just a stand in. I don't see him playing ahead of Walker or Kaboul.
Just waiting for Poch to prove me wrong though
