Though dont quite see him as you do, follow your logic, what dont see is how he strengthens squad, potential will not do that gurenteed.
Last season granted Surez had great season, but in games he missed attacking options not a major issue for Pool, it was the defending that cost Pool at end of day.
Yes he has money to spend from the sale, but he is using fair chunk of it, to me in areas that are secondary, not leaving a lot to spend on parts of squad that in my view would make a difference.

Why wouldn't he strengthen the squad? :?

If Sturridge gets injured

Is it because he isn't a proven Premier League striker?

Remy played mostly left of a front three at Newcastle, don't see why he cannot do the same for Liverpool?

He reminds me of an up and coming Henry, cutting in the left and creating chances.

I'm in!

I saw him enough last season to see him proven, he is class imo. 8 million (and a chunk of wages that will take maybe 2 million out of the transfer kitty??) is a bargain.

Borini = Remy plus Lambert plus a few quid even with wages is good business in an area we were light last season.

I agree our priority should now be at the back.

There is absolutely no way that Remy is going to be a guaranteed striker.
Rodgers will move to the 433 this season.

He only used the 41212 to put both Suarez and Sturridge on the field

Remy is nothing more than a mercenary that's why he's cheap.

Players like him are the reason why I stopped going years ago where he is more interested in his wage packet than his talent.
No doubt he can stick the ball in the onion bag but he's greedier than Sturridge and I mean that in both senses.

Can't see this as a blossoming partnership

20 goals in last 40 prem appearances

The debate isn't about his quality, it's just his game time. Surely no one will pick him now until we figure out Rodgers strategy?

He'll be rotated, it's as simple as that. Avoid.

Also the thought of Reus, Vidal, Di Maria or Pogba moving to Liverpool has me in hysterics :)

Fair point but aren't most footballers these days? Tevez, Suarez, Fabregas, Mascherano etc

If Liverpool can turn him into a 70m mercenary I'll be happy......

Again Remy is 8million because that is the clause in his contract to a top 4 team.

I had Remy in my starting 11 while he was still at QPR (so about 5 days lol)... I rate him like many others do, was impressed with his previous stints in the prem.

Kindve disappointed that this move has cast doubt over his game time, but if pre-season shows him as a regular starter (in a 433 maybe, playing from the left in the front 3) I'll likely jump on him. Hell of an enabler if he gets those regular minutes.

Seems to be a lot of doubt on here as to if he'll start at all... I guess we'll find out, but I'm quite optimistic that he'll fit in and think he'll do very well with Liverpool's style of play.

Rodgers is a 4231 manager at heart who is willing to be flexible. He had to be last year to get the best from Suarez. Playing him on the left of the 3 of a pure 4231 wasn't quite right. My guess is that he will try that with Remy and see how it goes.

Now Brendan you have the attacking options sorted so go and buy some ****ing defenders.

Remy's been bought as a squad player for when sturridge is injured or out of form. I still think they will buy big before the window closes

I don't think they'll buy big. I don't see any big name players that are:

A) Available
B) Would sign for Liverpool

I would imagine tbey are done with attacking players. Surely any more major signings will be defenders?

Interesting article on Remy in the Liverpool Echo from a Geordie journalist, includes a bit of speculation on what I said earlier about him potentially playing on the left of the 3 in a 4231 behind Sturridge:

Not sure it will necessarily help Remy's cause too much, Sterling on the other hand is probably a dead cert to start now.

Sterling, Markovic, Remy & Coutinho for the 2 wide positions either side of Sturridge.

Coutinho more likely to play as the highest midfielder though with Lallana now out.

Remy will lead the line. Sturridge will sit behind and play as he did off Suarez.

The Sterling, Coutinho, Markovic guff is irrelevant, Remy is proven in the Prem.
