You're indeed correct Stemania, 10 not-out for me. I don't usually like posting scores/ranks (seems a bit gloaty as I doubt I'd post my bad weeks) but it's nice being top of a fiso league for once

Congrats Mav3rick! Keep it going!

Yep I'm out. It looks like that Shelvey silly yellow card towards the end of the game cost me :(

Though not sure what I'm more disappointed about.....missing out on a 10th consecutive green arrow by just one point, or having Shelvey in my team! :D

Surely it should be a qualifying condition that you have to have an FPL link to qualify for inclusion on the table.

(Not that I'm trying to knock Mav off the top or anything  )

I'm on 8 not out. This week is a particularly nervous one though as 1) I'm taking a 4 point hit and 2) for the first time in ages the captaincy hasn't been a straighforward choice with neither Suraez or Aguero having an easy fixture.

Because so many people will intentionally miss the first GW just so they can post a good score in the 'Green Arrow Club' thread.

Rumbled.

In all seriousness, isn't it theoretically more difficult to get a green arrow the further behind you start? Missing the first GW meant I started 40-80pts behind everyone in my ML, which made it much more difficult to compete with them.

I'm not sure this is true - the lower down the rankings you are the lower the weekly scores of those around you. As you enter the top probably 250,000 or so everyone has decent scores regularly. For free you've had the opportunity to overtake all the teams who's managers who picked their team for GW1 and have given up.

It's like F1. If you start at the back of the grid and you're a good racer you'll likely gain 10-15 places over the course of the race. If you start 5th, you may only be able to manage 2-3.

That said, being in a position of 63,490 despite missing GW1 is a quite outstanding effort. Well done indeed.

It follows that you can't keep getting green arrows for 37 weeks. I wonder what the average climb to first is?

one green followed by 37 horizontal?

so given the minor position swings af the high rollers maybe we also need a horizontal arrows club.

Why not? Not saying it's likely. But it's possible. As long as:

[Your position] < [1st position] - [# game weeks remaining]

Thanks! :D

I understand what you're saying, and clearly the higher up the table you go the more difficult it is to get a green arrow. However, let's say we entered a team now, 16GWs into the season, and let's say that the other 3 million or so teams had entered in GW1. Getting even one green arrow would be very difficult because you'd be hundreds of points behind. Obviously, this is taking the situation to its extreme, but - assuming an even playing field - it must be at least a bit more difficult to gain on people if everyone else has a head start.

I think the key to it, in your F1 analogy, lies in the assumption that you're a good driver. If the objective of the game were to overtake as many people as possible, you're clearly better off starting from behind. Having said all that, I'd rather have started in GW1, had 50 more points overall, and a lower rank in the prestigious 'Green Arrow Club'.

To pedantically correct....

I entered in GW8 and got a dash that week (presumably as I didn't have a rank to go up from).

Once you have played one week you are in amongst the thousands who entered in your week and the dross that entered the week before (and has 2 low weekly scores) etc. Despite having a deliberately rubbish team I got a green arrow in my second week 8-) and have 4 green arrows out of 7 - my team really was awful but did have the S*AS up front. The teams are comparatively spread out down there so my best climb is less than 7k places. When they didn't fire my drops were bigger (two approaching 10k) so I have dropped outside the top 3 million overall.

I have now wildcarded to get a good team to focus on the cup so should, in theory, get a very high proportion of green arrows from now on. Hopefully Archy can handle that

Good luck in the cup. You might have the advantage of just used your WC, but have the disadvantage of not having built up the value of your team, it will be interesting to see how you do.
