FISO Yahoo Cup - a side game

Post by blueprint »

Basic Rules.
1) The 21 teams in the league will have their scores from games week 2 and 3 added together. The lowest scoring 5 teams of those 2 weeks will be knocked out, leaving the 16 teams to play each other.

2) all rounds are played over 2 games weeks.

3) The last 16 placements will be picked at random by me (no doubt I’ll be out by then :-) )

4) After that the winner of ‘a vs b’ and ‘c vs d’ will fill slots 1 and 2 in last 8 grid, etc etc.

5) It’s just for fun and we should get enough time to do this twice this season.

Nice One :D

Could've started from wk 1 though as I would have had a great start with some 'zeros' put there...

Cheers,
Lee

Could not have started it from week one as I didn't decide to do it till this morning and then took most of day setting up Excel which is a program I am not too clever with.
I know it will only hold peoples interest for a short while. Only those who stay till the final will keep interested. I don't have the time nor Excel knowledge to set up anything more complicated :?
But hey a little interest is better than none.

Thanks for doing this. Would be nice to know who the FISOers are in the draw. My team is 'The Wobboid Mumps'.

I have not forgotten this side comp. I just think Yahoo are going to be tinkering with the scores. I will hang on to see if they do. With my poor score I'm hoping they crash and all data is lost

Blueprint, it'd be a shame if you got knocked out early in this game and wouldn't make it particularly fun for you to run it subsequently so if needs be you can take my place (if I qualify). I simply cannot get my head around this game (it's my second season) and only joined again b/c it remembered my details. I'll keep trying to work it out but for the time being if I'm doing well it's down to luck!

I'm in as "At it again" by the way.

Thanks, but it is OK. You may not be able to get your head around the game, but you're doing better than I, so deserve your place. That said I'm not planning on going out just yet, many teams very close together, I just need a very good week

I like this game (not the new way display some info) but never do well in it. Fun thing is in the Starting 11 game which is based on the Yahoo game, I'm doing much better.

See 3rd post for this weeks results and draw for next round.

I do have to say sorry to The Wobboid Mumps as they had the same points as Jerome who got through. It was just done alphabetically, sorry mate. I must admit I didn't plan for teams who tie. I guess I really need to for the knockout stages that follow. Anyone with an idea of how to do it?

Good luck to those still in it.

Outed on alphabetical order  No problem mate - I really have no idea what I'm doing with this game but it is clear my rotating block defence strategy isn't working.

Because I can't think of a fair or better way to sort out who will win a tied 2 leg match match.
I will do it this way, if a game is tied after 2 legs, the winner of the first leg will win the match (away goals style  :? )

What about doing it the way some of the FPL sidegames do it: number of goals scored, number of clean sheets etc.? I don't think you'll get many draws so it shouldn't involve much extra work.

I doubt there will too many (if any) drawn games. I was just trying to make things easy for 'ME'

As it is, because Yahoo score display system doesn't work as it should I have to go through everybodys scores one at time. Now you want me to trawl through stats as well

I'm willing as long as some one points me in the right direction as to how I do this. I really can't be bothered to read the rules etc. Also once I have this info (goals scored goals conceded) how do I then work out a winner, me and maths are not friends.

In the event that we get a draw let me know and I'll work out the result dependent on firstly goals scored and then clean sheets. It might be a bit (very) manual but hopefully it won't become an issue. :)

If we get a draw, it will be worked out (not by me  :D ) on goals scored and conceded. OK :?:

In a complete reversal of the first leg scores Magflyers managed to level the points in his tie. In doing so his team scored three goals to Oswaldtwistle Flatcaps' none so Magflyers go through whilst OFs join me in going out.

Well done to Red Devils too. My consistancy was no good compared to your round 1 score :(. And a special note of bad luck to Stoned Husky - third best overall score but you were up against the current league leader and top point scorer.

I've still got no idea how you play this game well. With the way prices change it seems as though every time I make a transfer I'm losing out because no one sells for a profit. GM, what am I doing wrong!!
