This league has been the best thing about the Sun game. Sorry to hear you're going Jeff. Many thanks for all your work over the years. :(

Just read this thread Jeff. Many thanks for all your excellent work over the years - has made the SDT 100 times more interesting than the mediocrity the SUN peddle. Particularly enjoyed the LWDT and cup comps. Enjoy your retirement - you wont know what to do with yourself. OIh yes you will - maybe just 1 league!
Thanks again.
Am happy to nominate anybody!

Thanks Sim and wolvie. :)

I'll not be disappearing completely. I'll still be running and sponsoring the FA Cup, and backlash has kindly offered to share some of the workload on the Long weekend 5-a-side.

Just one update on that last post.

If anyone wants to do the FA Cup or LW5AS work next season I will gladly hand over the reins. I'm really struggling with this new DreamTeam format and am not enjoying it too much, so ideally I'd love to have a full season off.

Jeff regrettably I'll have to withdraw my offer of helping out on the LW5AS however it looks like you can't do your bit either.

Have some time off totally Jeff; the hours you have put in over the years is incredible so it's fully deserved.

I won't fully commit now but can probably step forward to run a decent part of this next season if others happy with that.

You'd be perfect for it.

Not a patch on Jeff but 30 times better than everyone else.

Oh, I'd say CBN would be able to do at least as good a job as yours truly and break the chairman's curse to boot. :)

Funny how I mention porn hub a few times and now no one has any time to do anything anymore.

I'll nominate CBN to do anything. He's far too clever.

As for elite league I'll happily collect/hold money

That would be handy Dan as I travel a lot and when I'm in Asia banking/PayPal is difficult, hence Jeff kindly holding the BML money for me this season.

So looks like we have an emerging plan to keep this running next season. I will speak to those who have offered to help and Jeff once we get to the summer and put a post up once we're ready to launch.

I just thought I'd quickly outline the various components of the Elite League. These revolve around the current competitions but I guess not all of them will necessarily continue. As we get closer hopefully we can identify who is going to look after what.

1. Collection of entry fees.

2. Distribution of prize money.

3. Taking a spreadsheet snapshot of the Elite League every Friday and Tuesday (for the cup competitions)

4. Publishing the league positions on a regular basis.

5. Publishing a regular manager of the month table (where appropriate)

6. Champions League group stages - organising the groups, the draw, publishing results and tables.

7. Champions League Knockout - the draws, publishing results.

8. Europa League Knockout - the draws, publishing results.

9. FA Cup - the draws, publishing results.

10. League Cup - the draw, publishing results.

11. Hall of Fame

The technical bit
Currently all the necessary software is written in Python and LibreOffice. Some conversion of this may be necessary, or perhaps someone has Excel spreadsheets which will be suitable, or maybe the new chairman/chairmen will start afresh with new code.

I'll probably just run it all myself out of Excel. Mad dog has pulled out of holding the money so if someone was prepared to do that then it would be appreciated.

I'll get final details up at the beginning of July. Some of the side comps might be a bridge too far but I'll see.

I'm hoping we can get a few sponsors again this season coming. If we can get enough to buy this (http://www.trophystore.co.uk/presentati ... lds-30-5cm) and get it engraved with the ten winners after next season and send it out to the winner to keep for a year that would be ace.

Wow, that's awesome Mark and Lee, thanks. 8-)

I think the trophy with the engraving and the delivery to next season's winner will be about £100. Everything after that will go towards sponsoring prizes for the side games. Hopefully we can get a similar level to this season's generosity.

I will be getting things going on 1st July.

i could be tempted to run the cup competitions... but it'd be a straight champions league and FA Cup.

No league cup, no autowindsceeens, no best losers, no top/bottom half of the draws.

If there is appetite for them like that I'll join muck in.

Cheers Zim - treasurer would be amazing. Thank you.

Reckon I can get an Excel up and running to make the cup comps easy enough. It will however require a bit of initial technical input from jpk. He offered that the other day - who has deleted his post?!

Sponsorship up to £250 already

This season will never be better than what Jeff has done but we might be able to set an entry and prize money record 8-)

If I get enough time during the week I will unveil next season's game and launch the sign up on Saturday.

Been away a while but have to say thanks Jeff for all the time and effort put into running this comp the past few years. How the heck you managed it I don't know.

In good hands with CBN though and glad I put a team in at last minute.

Will there be a Champions League this season or is that taking a break for this year?
