Back for a 3rd season and now with added Zombies
True there can be only one winner in any league, provided it has a suitable tie-break system of course. So "what makes this different then murf?" I hear you ask. Well, in this we will actually kill teams off like the supposed immortals in that there Highlander film (the decent first one with Christopher Lambert and James Bond in it - not the rubbish sequels) so at the end there, err, can be only one left.
So how do we turn a TFF league into the fantasy equivalent of Highlander (with added zombies)?
Depending on how many would-be-immortal entries (1 each) we have, every week or two in our Highlander league we will kill off one til there is only 1 left just like in Highlander.
Death is not the end though as with every 5th cull we will also be reanimating a dead zombie team (more later).
Last year we had less entries than weeks, meaning that, initially, killings only occurred every 2 scoring weeks. That will happen this year is numbers are similar - or even every 3 weeks. Once we are at the right level we will kill off one a week until 2 teams fight it out in the final Super Sunday battle of the league season (FA Cup final reserved for a replay). This will all be tweaked slightly due to the number effect of reanimating zombies. I'll sort it all out when we have our final tally of teams.
RULES -
1. Entry is unlimited prior to the start of the season. If we are below the number of TFF scoring weeks (less zombie numbers) then entry will remain open til open til the kick off of the second weekend or the right number is reached - but you need to be in by the start proper of Friday 9th August, first kick off to be eligible for the first immunity.

3 - Initially (STAGE A) a team will be eliminated every two weeks then (STAGE B) one every week
Stage A will only happen if we don't get enough entries (quite likely). The low scoring team will be tossed out of the league/cup never to be seen again (or, maybe not, they can be reanimated as zombies (see 4) - this means we will drop til we are down to 2 in the final Premiership week, our final. If I've got my number of weeks wrong I'll apply a fiddle at some stage to eliminate 0 or 2 in a week (announced in advance). Full details/calendar on the post below. All reference to scores means the weekly score (except for daily scores in tie break as discussed below). Total scores mean nowt, ever.
4 - Zombie Reanimation In line with every 5th cull (be that 2 weeks Stage A or 1 week Stage B) there will be a parallel reanimation where the highest scoring dead/zombie team gets reanimated. During Stage A the first week will be a fight for possible reanimation where only the top scoring half of the teams get through to week 2's final Zombie-Off. If there is a tie straddling the mid-point those straddling the split will ALL get through to the final Zombie-Off.
5. I don't think we need any more rules except to say my word is law and I can invent a proper rule 5 if I have to.
STAGE A - Week 1 of Each Pair
Stage A will only happen if we don't get enough entries (quite likely). In week 1 we are all trying to gain immunity from the week 2 evictions. The top half of the weekly scorers will be immune and get week 2 off. The bottom half will face elimination in week 2 (in weeks with odd numbers of teams then the middle team counts as being in the BOTTOM half). If teams straddle the mid-table split then they will all be considered as being in the half that they are mostly in . e.g. with 19 teams: 7 get over 50, 3 get exactly 50 and 9 get under 50 then there are 3 straddling the mid-point and they are mostly in the top half of the table so they get top half immunity.
Week 2 of Each Pair in STAGE A - and very week in Stage B
Quite simply the lowest score of all teams (other than those with immunity during Stage A) is eliminated/killed/evicted/kicked out. Game over.
TIE-BREAK - In the event of a tie for last
Stage A - The teams level in last (week 2 of pair) will be split by their week 1 score. If equal then as Stage B:
Stage B: The teams level in last will have a mini-replay on the next scoring DAY. That includes the FA Cup Final for our final. Lowest team on that day goes out. This will keep replaying til we get down to 1 (eg if 5 draw for last in a week and on the next scoring day 2 teams are level last the higher 3 breathe a sigh of relief whilst the lowest 2 re-replay on the next scoring day. During these replays the next week's action carries on simultaneously.
I'll announce and finally work all this out and so how long Stages 1 and 2 last etc once we know final numbers.
