Please roll up and get ready to enter the FISO 2018 League.
It will run just like the FISO 2016 League and FISO 2017 League as follows:
- We all start with identical teams (see below)
- NO transfers til new year's day
- Simple race to the flag with 40 transfers during 2018
- Teams must be in the superleague by first kick off
- Teams set to public initially so we can check for mistakes/cheating
- Teams can be set to private from Jan 1st
So you just set and leave (ultra tortoise) then come January 1st we are all level and start to burn those transfers (ultra hare) as and when we choose.
2018 is a long way away but this doesn't require much effort now and will give you some new focus as your season long teams hit the inevitable buffers.

Re: < < FISO 2018 League > >
Some chat copied over from the 2017 thread:
Latic: Sheepy, are we doing a 2018 league?
murf: Yes, definitely. Same rules as last year I guess (assuming no change in superleague deadline??) and I'll put a team together nearer the time but player suggestions always welcome. Mainly solid blokes who aren'y made of biscuits and should play every week through the season.
morganb - as champion do you want the honour of selecting the team???
Everyone keen - save a team for this one! Stick it in by the deadline then just forget it for four and a half months before looking at it again during the dull bits of the Hootenanny.
morganb: Wow! That is an honour... Thanks. Will have a play around and see what I can come up with over the weekend.
murf: Honour? Nah, just saving me the hassle
morganb: That didn't take long... Used last year's team as a template:
442 like last season
GK
de Gea, David MUN £3.9m - Solid GK in a team with a decent defence
DEF
Trippier, Kieran TOT £3.8m - First choice RB now Walker has gone
McAuley, Gareth WBA £3.2m - Pulis knows how to keep clean sheets
Ward, Stephen BUR £2.3m - a defensive enabler. This year's Cook?
Alonso, Marcos CHE £4.3m - Class defender. Good points scorer last season
MID
Eriksen, Christian TOT £5.5m - A bit cheaper than Alli but similar points scored last season
Mane, Sadio LIV £5.2m - Should be fit and back to his best by the New Year
Pedro CHE £4.9m - Midfielder playing for the reigning Champions
Ritchie, Matt NEW £3.2m - midfielder enabler for a promoted team but with Prem experience
FWD
Kane, Harry TOT £7.0m - slow starter but should have warmed up by Christmas and settled into Wembley
Lukaku, Romelu MUN £6.6m - Has always scored goals and now in a better team
Total Value £49.9m
murf: Not studied the player lists but that looks a better team than I would have expected to be able to pick.
Think I read Burnley have nought someone in Ward's position and will Spurs replace Walker and rotate Trippier???
Still ages to settle this team.
PS If I get time this weekend I'll start a new thread and copy these bits across.
morganb: Actually the team is a bit too Spurs-y (3) with no Man City or Arsenal 'coverage' and McAuley could become Dawson to save a few £s
Spinynorman: Although I can't remember where or even if when I did it was reliable but I think someone some where said that Eriksen might be an injury doubt for the first couple of games.
Edit: Just checked again and I think I'm talking rubbish.

So, we are almost ready to go!
Thought I'd kick the thread off even if we aren't ready to go yet so you can all keep a team in hand.
Morganb's early thoughts on the team are above, feel free to chuck ideas and comments his way for him to incorporate or ignore as he sees fit.
All you have to do is enter by the deadline and just sit on your tinkering hands for 4 and a half months - and then go mad. Too hard????

I'm up for it again.
Regarding the team that has been suggested it's not exactly one that I would go with so it could be a winner.

Would certainly make it more interesting to use the same base team in both! Mind you I'd just feel ashamed at how little better (or worse) my Eggcup team fared come May!Mystery wrote:Ummm... Wondering if I should use that as the Egg Cup template...

As soon as Morganb picks a team we can go - can always tweak it if a player gets sold or broken (unless it is too close to the season start)

Re: < < FISO 2018 League > >
Tried to stick with the basis of the 2016/17 team where you really want players who are going to play every week:
So:TEAM (442)
De Gea MU (4.0)
Alderweireld TOT (4.5) Bellerin ARS (4.4) Dawson WBA (3.0) Cook BOU (2.2)
Sanchez ARS (6.0) Hazard CHE (5.8) Mane LIV (5.0) Ibe BOU (3.6)
Aguero MC (7.0) Gray BUR (4.5)
GK
de Gea, David MUN £3.9m - Solid GK in a team with a decent defence
DEF
Trippier, Kieran TOT £3.8m - First choice RB now Walker has gone
Dawson, Craig WBA £3.0m - Pulis knows how to keep clean sheets
Smith, Tommy HUD £2.3m - A cheap defender who should play every week
Total Value £49.7m
A couple of defensive tweeks to the original team - don't quite know how the Burnley defence will line up so decided to avoid. Downgraded McAuley to Dawson to save a few pennies. Still got 3 from Spurs but think they are good value. Of the top 6 we are lacking Arsenal and Man City (who are a bit of a minefield to pick from). Pedro is currently showing as injured (facial injuries) but should hopefully make the first game of the season. Happy for anyone to suggest alternative players.

My only ? Would be Mane, when is his expected return date? If the idea is to be solid up till new year as well as after then a crocked player isnt ideal? If he's due back soonish then all good.

Pedro - Yep, as mentioned above, Pedro does have facial injuries at the moment. We can monitor his progress and he would be a straight swap price-wise for Sane if it looks like he'll miss the start of the season.
Mane - a quick Google shows he is back in training . Perhaps Murf can comment further? Again we could swap to Ozil (?!) if Mane has a relapse.

Yep, Mane back in training. Think they have 3 games in Germany coming up so should have a good idea from that.morganb wrote: ↑26 Jul 2017, 15:35 Pedro - Yep, as mentioned above, Pedro does have facial injuries at the moment. I think we can happily fiddle with the team as long as all entrants are aware when setting up and signing up. The we set it in (soft!) stone over the weekend of 5/6 and only tweak after that in emergency circumstances (with a PM to all players)

Historically, I've never really got on with this format. Giving it another go and stumbled upon this game. So, I've selected the generic team of eleven and entered the 2018 league. If, I'm correct, I now leave the team untouched until 1st January. Then we go for it.

I've put the 'final' team in the first post now so set your team to that (I'll PM everyone if it changes due to any emergency)
DEADLINE is saturday lunchtime (Liverpool game) as we have no Arsenal or Leicester blokes on the (stupid) friday evening season opener.
Healthy(ish) 9 entrants with 9 days to go.
