Tff Wooden Spoon 15/16

Post by robot »

Back again for another year, and set up today to give as much chance as possible to find the zero season long scorers although will probably be harder than last year with the late start :!:

The prize in the real game has gone up

The Manager whose team finishes in last place in the Premium Overall Leaderboard shall win the ‘Wooden Spoon’ prize of £100. Only valid teams registered before 23.59pm (BST) Monday, August 17, 2015 will be eligible for the ‘Wooden Spoon’ prize.

The Manager whose team finishes in last place in The One League shall win the ‘Wooden Spoon’ prize of £100.
No further entries will be accepted into The One League after 23:59 (BST) on Monday, August 10, 2015.

The prize in this league is just bragging rights for winning :!:

Slight change in the idea behind this league this year to give entries a slightly better chance of the overall prize.

1. Up to 3 entries per player (to help keep up with the mass wooden spooners) and give at least 3 tries at finding the right game.

2. We all help each other to create the best initial team, ie giving us all the best possible starting point.

To Enter create a team and follow the rules of TFF, The League pin is 8040410/The Wooden spoon.

Previous years:
2013/14 Overall and this league:
1 Paul Crook Doh -10
2 Ian Hall HULL Woodentops -3
3 Dean Pidcock Real Losers -1

26 Peter Clinch My Pointless Friends 20
27 Geoff Vickers Locker's Shockers 8
28 Chris Ducker Wooden Spooners 0

2014/15 Overall and this league:

1 Paul Crook Wooden 3 -17
2 Ian Hall Ian's Duffers 2 -14
2 Simon Hesmondhalgh Morning Wood -14
2 Richard Dolby spoonerisms -14
5 Simon Hesmondhalgh Wooden Legs -5

19 Thomas Yates Pointless 0
19 Harry Sykes Zero Tollerance 0
21 Ian Young Van zero Bunners -5

I'm in :D

First ever attempt at this......

I guess, for now, we have to stay tuned for players exiting the league and dive on them before Tele delete them.

That's part of the fun :D

Stambouli (ex Spurs) had gone by the time I set up my team yesterday (less than 24 hours after confirmation of his transfer to PSG).

Szczesny & Jovetic appear to be off to Italy soon based on the latest gossip.

I completely botched this last year. Surging with 8 points in week 2. Won't let that happen again hopefully. I'm back.

You are right he is no longer there.

The Telegraph are getting pretty sharp at taking players out.

Even more reason to fill your side up with those based on rumours/gossip in case you are not around to make quick changes.

I shall be in for another effort. Last year I lost track of returning injuries / loans - in particular, Coquelin coqued me up.

I've seen a few medium / long-term injuries but not sure they are robust enough to get in a template team: Flanagan, Ekstrand, Gardos, Matthew James. They are in my provisional line-up for the start.

The problem with mid/long term injuries or very unlikely to play players is come later in the year you suddenly get caught out/forget and find yourself scoring points, much safer with total non starters( ie not on the site) up to the point where you go for it with minus defenders.

Looks like Hamer's now gone forever.

Just set up two more teams, from some of the template suggestions to date. Not sure whether I'm more nervous about the crocked players achieving Lazarus-like recoveries, or others not packing their bags in good time.

Is there a league set up yet? Embarrassingly I now have more of these teams than "serious" ones (two total, and one of those is the astonishingly awful Egg cup rabble)
