League Cup Second Round results

Three of the higher seeded teams go out in the quarter-finals.
These include the no1 & no3, who may now concentrate on the league...
Winners are also the top four scorers over the fortnight, so no real hard luck stories here.
Congratulations go to Jan Molby's Bolws, NFG, farmerbob and tommymooney:

TFFCH 2009-10: TFFCH SL Cup

Post by SamD »

Yes, superleague Cup Final will run from Tues 30 March to Mon 12 April. This currently includes 39 Championship fixtures and a potental FA Cup tie. So there'll be no excuse for whoever is runner-up...

While we're here: note that the TFFCH season ends in Week 41 with the play-off Final at Wemberlee on Sunday 23 May. This means another 12 weeks of action.

Week 30 of 41 (games to Sun 7 March)

It's no joke: Jester makes every other super league team look comical in the chase this week...
With 55, he's well ahead of SOBD, 39; Jan Molby's Bolws, 33; and kcboing & blessedbrian, 32.

The front three are unchanged in the SL: Chief Wiggsy, 1240; melvin, 1221; and farmerbob, 1153.
Jester records the biggest move: up four to fourth and 1141 points.

Great start in the cup, those Reading players did you proud, I prevaricated on Kebe last night...and kept my powder dry, clearly a mistake!

I brought Kebe in last night :D. Helped by the Derby goalkeeping farce and Robbie Savage's inexperience.

@ farmerbob

Perhaps an unassailable lead for you now - 82 to my 46. I need to make up 36 pts in a week! Not confident about that. Great work so far! Even my campaign for Brunt's assist did me no favours!

Transfers - can't say, though one has his reputation.

The team has developed over the last month or so with play-offs in mind and with varible team players in those areas so as to try and accomodate a few players at least for the final. Though, one is thinking a push on with Royals players, just incase they keep climbing and pick Cardiff to 6th. Sounds unlikely, well probably, but check the fixtures out. :o

Not too many games left now though, so a pick of the correct points player or two to get you to the end of season will be the winning hand.

I brought Bruno Berner in today after seeing the team sheets, believing that Leics could keep a clean sheet against Stead and co despite Coventry's form. Switch on BBC, Berner has pulled out after injuring himself in the warm-up.

Pearson didn't play him for precautionary reasons. Calf injury again, guessing it's the same calf that kept him out for a run of games last time.

Re: TFFCH 2009-10: Telegraph Championship * £12 Prize League *

Post by tommymooney »

Well, I threw the kitchen sink at it this weekend, and lost to farmerbob by 7 points in the end. Close but no cigar! Even if I had made the final I wouldn't have had many transfers to play with.

Well played Farmerbob - did you bring Whittingham in yesterday?

My biggest mistake in the 2 weeks was to go for a Helguson 3-1 over Carroll in week 1. Carroll scored in the '1' while Helguson failed to score in the run of three Watford home games (including Ipswich and Peterborough) perhaps I let my heart rule my head with the hornets legend?!

If I had used those 2 transfers better I could have come a bit closer.

Thanks for the game you were very unlucky tommymooney, it was a real game of two halves. Quite a performance from you last weekend, 23rd in the overall weekly league. With such a big lead from the first leg I didn't make any special changes this week and almost lost it. I'll probably need to concentrate a bit more for the final.

Apologies for not posting before.

Fantasy Sport and FISO had to take a back seat for the past 6 months following a personal tragedy. I'm back playing now, not because it matters but to take my mind off things. It meant I had a lot of transfers to get through in recent weeks, hense my sudden rise up the table and cup success.

Anyway, now seems as good a time as any to start posting again, so best of luck in the Final Farmerbob. I've saved a few transfers to keep it interesting.

Welcome back, NFG.

Five managers amass 70 or more points this time:
Jester, 80, axel, 73, SOBD & Chief Wiggsy, 72, and NFG, 70.

Little movement in the top ten of the Championship, suggesting teams may hold similar line-ups?
- leading three remain the same: Chief Wiggsy, 1,463, melvin, 1,418, and farmerbob, 1,384
- fourth and fifth swap rungs: Jester, 1,367, and kcboing, 1,354
- and sixth to tenth are also unchanged.
