Don't forget to keep picking folks. Round 3 will be over by Wednesday with a rare full midweek set and then we are straight into Round 4. Fantasy Wembley seems a long way off but it is going to be all over by the time you have sobered up and gone back to work after the festivities!

I'd better start figuring out the CL Stylee Cup (which could including rankings or byes based on your overall position / cup glory so keep on picking). Think that will be strictly limited to 32 which is about the level of interest these days (had 64 in the group stages in previous years I think!)

Round 3, Last 16, Leg 1, Sat/Sun 31st/1st
Round 3, Last 16, Leg 2, Tue/Wed 3rd/4th

Round 4, QFs, Leg 1, Sat-Mon 7th-9th
Round 4, QFs, Leg 1, Sat/Sun 14th/15th

Semis 21-23 and 26th

Final 28-29th and NYDay
(actually that is two legs so no Fantasy Wembley unless either finalist has a shitty ground and tries to increase revenue)

We meet again, Mick, albeit a different game.

ROUND 3 - 1st Leg - Results

Darbyand 7 v 8 Moist von Lipwig
Rookster 9 v 10 Ralfbergs
Shaggy365 9 v 10 Spinynorman
Knulpuk 6 v 8 eagle224
Digsby 10 v 9 murf
bluenosey 10 v 12 Mick MacPaddywack
the dude abides 7 v 15 steve foster

7 very close matches there, including four that are 10-9. Four of the five rubbish* scorers are playing each other, luckily for them.

(* = defined as "worse than murf")

2nd legs (reverse fixtures) to be played tomorrow and Wednesday.

ROUND 3 - 2nd Leg - RESULTS

Moist von Lipwig 7 v 8 Darbyand (Aggregate 15-15, 1st leg 8 v 7 so tied on away goals.....)
Ralfbergs 7 v 7 Rookster (17 v 16, 10 v 9)
Spinynorman 10 v 9 Shaggy365 (20 v 18, 10 v 9)
eagle224 8 v 5 Knulpuk (16 v 11, 8 v 6)
murf 11 v 8 Digsby (20 v 18, 9 v 10)
Mick MacPaddywack 5 v 7 bluenosey (17 v 17, 12 v 10, MMPW wins on away goals)
steve foster 5 v 7 the dude abides (20 v 14, 15 v 7)
Big Bird 11 v 8 coryphaeus (20 v 18, 9 v 10)

Crikey, Amy's touch of the balls was decisive with all those drawn away in leg 1 by her coming through!

Commiserations to Shaggy365, Digsby and coryphaeus - all out on 18 which would have won 4 of the ties.

I'm off to sort that tie-breaker.....

murf in Feb 2006! wrote:A bit of 'clarification' re Cup comps and drawn ties:

Unless stated otherwise (get that caveat in early  ), two legged cup ties are decided on away goals first. The next factor (first factor for single leg ties) is points scored in the game featuring the highest placed team in the league after the set is complete. Then second highest etc etc. If still level we go on "goals out" (total goals out from both sides, i.e. the difference in number of predicted goals and real life goals scored)) from ties in the order as before. For 2 legged ties we do all this for the second leg first then if all still level move onto the first leg.

For the Prem Predictions CL Group stage we use the exact same rules as UEFA or whoever it is that run the so-called proper CL. For the knockout stages we will use the away goals rule first, then points from highest placed team etc etc as discussed above.
So we look at Arsenal's game last night....

Darbyand predicted 3-0 (presumably before seeing who was up front) but MvL was spot on with 2-0 so goes through. The touch of Amy strikes again......

2 118 murf (2nd)
3 110 Spinynorman (10th)

QUARTER FINAL DRAW

As is always traditional, Kylie has drawn the home teams.

After her fantastic performance by picking 8 out of 8 winners in Round 3 we have a quite probably unprecedented immediate return as guest picker for Amy Whoknowsorevencareswhathersurnameis. So it has been back to some Australian bush with our balls and velvet bag.

eagle224 v Ralfbergs
murf v Big Bird
Mick MacPaddywack v Spinynorman
steve foster v Moist von Lipwig

Ties to be played over the next 2 weeks, home and away (to carry on the antipode theme) etc as per normal.

The top two seeds (and the overall runaway(ish) leaders at that) are playing each other.

On further inspection I'm not sure what has gone on here as the top 5 seeds all have away draws.... except me. I think that Amy bird must be cheating by concealering something in that bag of hers

We'd certainly be last on MOTD  - A one game shoot-out unless we've both got the same prediction for tomorrows game.

Judging by BTTS I'm obviously better at guessing who will score rather than who will win.
