Schurrle v Laporte "mad dog" challenge

To help drum sense into me it's time to log a few of the things i'm told. I still can't get my head around premium defenders being the value here. So mad dog is saying i should go Schurrle to Laporte because Laporte is likely to hit 30pts in the next 4 games and the best case for Schurrle is 20, and i'm saying i fancy Schurrle to get more points than Laporte.

Let's for arguement sake say to make it worth a transfer Laporte needs 10 more points than Schurrle.

Now lets log down what happens :-

It's not about ten points though is it as it would be a season long transfer and as it stands Laporte walks all over Shirley.

No mate, it's the next 4 games because the advice i was given was swap Schurrle to Laporte now and i said no because he'll score more points in the next 4 games than Laporte and mad dog doesn't agree.

Obviously over a season Laporte will outscore Schurrle, but with 40 transfers i don't pick and stick for the season.

If i'm going to make a season pick then the transfer i make has to outscore the player i take out of my team long term AND short term. If he's not going to outscore short term then it's a bad transfer.

The table below is the Highest number of points that you could have achieved with a Team set at day 1 and left untouched (No transfers and the Captain permanently set to Hazard) as at the end of Week 8 (So Upto the International Break)
PPMG is Points Per £Million Value divided by games played. I will let you work out the value is.

You definately are if you're saying i should do that transfer now, as it makes no sense at all if short term it's going to lose me points. It's going to cost me 1 transfer whenever i do it so why would i do it to lose points now, rather than in a few games time?

Nice collection of data but i'm struggling to see how it's relevant to the game we are playing as that's based on pick and stick. We are playing a game with 40 transfers and to get a premium striker in there you have to do 2 transfers and lose 1 of your premium defenders. You talk about me wasting transfers but if someone had that team how the hell do you get good captain picks every game day without throwing transfers at it every time. The value can't be in defenders if you then can't get your 40-50pt captain picks.

You'll not get through to me because i don't get the way you guys play, it just doesn't make sense to me. I'll just have to knuckle down and keep on playing how i play and hope i get a few captains right and at the end of the season show you guys that maybe the way i play can work too.

Thanks, it will be a good lesson learnt.

I'm going to change Schurrle to Laporte on Monday Although i will wait until the team news because knowing my luck if i do it early he'll be rested.

Btw if the pitch was better than Lamela would have scored and Laporte would have missed his cs bonus.

This might also have taught me if i pick players from smaller clubs then i have to be prepared to move them on as soon as results turn bad.
