My only problem with that is you've not only got to make 8 points up on the leader but everyone above you
Top spot isn't a person, just the current score at the top of the leaderboard, which could easily be a different person from week to week. If you gain 8 points every week on that, you will be top by the end
I'd need to make 8 points per week up on the guy at the top of the leaderboard and 7.95 pts on manager 2 and 7.89 on manager 7 as examples. If most of these managers only have a few transfers left and start losing out on captain selections then that's where alot of points could be picked up.

I've looked at my current team up until the end of Jan and if i kept my team as is i'd have 2 days without a captain :- Everton v Swansea on the 18th Dec, and Man U v Stoke on the 15th Jan and a good captain in both fixtures could probably get 14-20 points per game. Anyone who can field captains every day there is a fixture because they have been careful with transfers could really start clawing back some points.

Thanks for sticking the top 100 up. Be interesting to see how this one plays out. I’m currently in 214th. Hoping for a top 100 finish.

Basically there is no way of knowing; winner could be currently 7th, 78th, 593rd or 3157th etc. From the posts though its definately worth maintaining your teams no matter how far down they are. A team in 59th for example might only have 10 trannies left, a team in 2052nd may have 34 left. Those 24 trannies used wisely can easily catch up.

idea wrote: 28 Nov 2017, 09:24 An easy way to determine if you can still win, or be close at the end of the season, is how much more then the weekly average (top 100 ish) you need each time. If it becomes unmanageable in the time left, it might be worth focusing your efforts on something else. Your current position adds little value as its impossible to know what other teams current strength is now and in the future, its only really another way of highlighting the amount you are currently behind.

So if your 200 points behind with 25 games to go, your going to need on average 8 points more then top 100 weeks score, or 8 points more then the team in 1st if you are focusing on the win, this would be manageable. Fast forward 15 game and still 200 points behind (20 points a week), now the task is probably not achievable.

My only problem with that is you've not only got to make 8 points up on the leader but everyone above you. When i first read it i thought yep can do it easily on the leader but when you have another 1500 managers above you then it makes it that much tougher.

I'm not giving up but i have swapped out players to ones hardly anyone has. I've 7 players that less than 7% of managers have which i think gives me more of a chance.

Tomorrows captain looks make or break for me. I reckon there is a 40 pointer in there somewhere.
If you’ve got seven players with less than 7% ownership, I regret to say that the journey you are on is likely to be downwards to 10000 and below.

Don’t dissuade him. A team of differentials could be amazing!!!

If every form and quality player falls off then he’s laughing.

Could happen. Kane could not score again this season, Salah could move to Sevilla, KDB might start playing like an OAP

You can rise like a salmon in this game so don’t think you are out of the running at the moment. I’d say you need to be pushing into that top 1/2/500 by the end of Christmas though solely due to the amount of games that will have been played and captain days.

Went up 600 places after last night so back in the top 1000. I'm pretty happy with my players however feel i need to alter things just because of the next few weeks of fixtures and i can see a couple of ways to gain more points on the leaders.

Bearing in mind this games budget only allows 4 or 5 top class players i dont think it's a bad thing looking at players others may of overlooked.

This isn't really a game where you can make bold predictions as having 15 more transfers than a guy 50 points ahead of you this stage doesn't make you a cert to catch him/her (unlike TFF say) as it's far more important to consistently hit the right captain week in week out. More transfers obviously gives you the advantage of having more captaincy opportunities so it is advantageous to be holding 30ish right now than say 15 or so but it doesn't mean as much as other games.

I'd be more inclined to agree with Yorkie/Striker but Mad Dog could turn out to be correct too.

Loved tonight's carnage.

No Sane. Salah, Hazard and Azpi, Coutinho, Silva all benched.

The one time I was actually going to captain Salah and I swap him when he starts on the bench

180 behind the leader now.

Tough captaincy call Saturday. Where's everyone going? I currently have it on Kane, but Hazard and Salah are compelling options too.

For me Saturday looks like one of the easier selections i have to make. I'll be playing it safe and going with a guaranteed Chelsea starter as they are the early kick off.

I’ll be going kane but he’ll probably be another let down. Salah looks to be the man to captain. The points he’s scored in the last four games 😵

Yeah he's been incredible. Just feel Brighton are a lot more solid than Watford. I miss the days of being able to just leave the captaincy on Kane. Now every weekend feels like a lottery!

And this is when I feel you need to be lucky getting the right captain each day. My last 5/6 choices haven’t been the highest scoring player in my team which is always annoying. Like most of us if I’d of picked Salah as captain in his last 4 games I’d be a lot closer to you.

Morata captain for me today. Gambled on taking Kane out and putting Morata in during the midweek fixtures and Morata had alot of shots last game without scoring and fancy him to get a couple today.

Regarding not having Kane it is worrying that Watford are leaky but there just seems to be too many Spurs players out of form at the moment.

Morata scores, so for 3 or 4 hours i look like a genius. Come 5pm i'll probably be moaning about Kane / Salah scoring a hat-trick

I've got Hazard as well so my "genius" move has already gone wrong

I can still make a decent points haul this week but again done myself out of a few extra points that could of got me gaining on the leader. My only hope now to gain is for Kane and Salah to draw a blank which seems unlikely

 my two less than 1% players are up against Liverpool today so i'm hoping for a clean sheet. Brighton dont normally get a thrashing so i'll be looking for positive scores coming from them both and some bonus points from the keeper for saves

I went up inside the top 900 yesterday despite not having Hazard as captain. KDB today so might gain if other managers went for Sterling / Sane / Aguero. Added bonus that City let one in to stop the clean sheet bonus.

65 total for the week, what about you guys?

Unless you have Otomendi or Silva as well than I predict a fall for you. How many City players do you have?

Just KDB, although i also have Lanzini so got 16 in total today.

You're right down to 1054 so dropped just over 150 places. Looks like everyone has the same idea in not going with Aguero or Jesus as captain anymore. I can't close this 200 point gap :(
