Re: 2019-20: Fixture Schedule and Changes
FIFA only recently announced 7 team Club World Cup will be held in Qatar in December (sorry, can't find exact dates). Liverpool start in semi finals but their club website has been suspiciously quiet on topic so participation maybe not 100% assured...

I thought I read Liverpool weren’t playing (because there is bigger tournament starting next year instead)?

Re: 2019-20: Fixture Schedule and Changes
That was what was thought until a week or two ago when FIFA announced this year's tournament (hosts). The bigger tournament is planned to be every 4 summers (not next summer - Euros).
EDIT Liverpool's website has a new article today about PL fixtures and other key dates which conspicuously fails to mention the World Club Championship.....

Re: 2019-20: Fixture Schedule and Changes
I see in Feb they are splitting one of the game weeks across two weekends, 5 in each, but TV will dictate who plays when nearer the time.

Re: Fixture amendments
That possible move doesn't make much sense (certainly not the "because of" bit) unless they actually want to move it and will if nobody is playing on Tuesday. As Man U can't (snigger) then it is 50/50 whether Liverpool will so why not say it will be on Sunday and move to Saturday if Liverpool get a Tuesday game??SamD wrote:Saturday 19 October 2019

LFC website just says it may move to Sunday "depending on Champions League group stage scheduling"

CL factor
Tut tut: one-eyed view of Liverpool only!
Man City may play on Tues or Wed; likewise Liverpool*. So their weekend fixtures could be swapped to provide a three-day gap.
* Draw for Champions League group stage takes place on Thurs 29 Aug.

Re: CL factor
Based on the PL fixture information given out in the changes
It appears that the Two "Paired sides for the CL" by BT Sport are Man C and Liverpool
This means that if one of the clubs plays Tuesday the other must play on Wednesday each match week

Nah - time for 'er Indoors to give me her Prime password which she will be happy to do in early December. But possibly less happy at Christmas when she realises that it means that I'll be sitting at my computer for most of Boxing Day.

Re: 2019-20: Fixture Schedule and Changes
I'm surprised to see games moved forward to 1930 on weekday evenings, particularly at grounds like Selhurst Park where they normally kick off at 2000.

2022 World Cup impact
Advance notice:
Premier League footballers could face the prospect of playing games nine days before the start of the 2022 winter World Cup in Qatar.
Draft plans have been shared between clubs outlining the Premier League schedule around the tournament, being held from Monday 21 November to Sunday 18 December.
PL fixtures could take place up to Saturday 12 November and resume on Monday 26 December, eight days after the final.
Season 2022-23 would also kick off one week earlier and finish a week later.
Uefa has said a decision on the scheduling of that season's Champions League and Europa League will not be made until 2021.
