This contradicts what it says on the FA site:
Suspensions are automatically imposed for accumulating 5, 10, or 15 cautions in a season. There are cut-off dates for receiving a sanction as a result of accumulated cautions. They are:
http://www.thefa.com/football-rules-gov ... uspensions

Now I'm confused.

I couldn't find it on FA site but gave up as only on phone not laptop.

Judio's quote does call them dates though (eg day of 19th game is a date)

It's covered by the FA Handbook which refers to a number of games. I guess the term "cut-off date" has been used to aid understanding by the masses.

The concept of a fixed number of games is definitely new. The 31st December was fixed as I remember it being in the middle of a game 'set' before and some clubs being luckier than others. Also postponements had no effect on that date. The April one is/was a certain sunday so the monday match teams have always benefitted.

Also our longstanding idiots' guide was copy and pasted from the rulebook back in the day.

Has it changed? I presume it must have or why say 19 games??

A quick delve into the 16-17 handbook tells me it is new for this season

Does anyone know when the televised FA cup games are likely to be announced?

Up for the Cup: TV

Post by SamD »

Televised FA Cup third round fixtures:

Friday 5 January: Liverpool v Everton (7.55pm) – Live on BBC One

Saturday 6 January: Fleetwood Town or Hereford v Leicester City (12.45pm) – Live on BBC One;
Norwich City v Chelsea (5.30pm) – Live on BT Sport

Sunday 7 January: Newport County v Leeds United (12pm) – Live on BBC Wales;
Shrewsbury Town v West Ham United (2pm) – Live on BBC One;
Nottingham Forest v Arsenal (4pm) – Live on BT Sport

Monday 8 January: Brighton & Hove Albion v Crystal Palace (7.45pm) – Live on BT Sport
This will be the first competitive club match in England in which VAR (Video Assistant Referee) technology is used.

After a 58-match run going all the way back to their third-round replay against Exeter City in 2005, Manchester United’s FA Cup tie against Derby County will not be televised live in the United Kingdom.

:shock:

Meanwhile, one of the Manchester teams will surely be moved to the Sunday, as I doubt the police would be happy with both being Saturday 3pm KO's?

Dont rule out Friday night

Could be an issue with a Tuesday night EFL Cup Semi after

The Winner of Arsenal and West Ham EFL Quarter will obviously now play their semi on the Wednesday night after the FA Cup

Tottenham v Afc Wimbledon will be at Wembley on the Sunday at 3

Firstly we have Semi Finals played at Wembley

Now a 3rd Round Cup Tie at Wembley !!

Judio wrote: 04 Dec 2017, 16:03 Why not play it on Sat at 1230 ???

Because Sky want to show Celtic

FFS

This sets a bad precedent

The TV Companies have moved a game to ANOTHER Gameweek for no reason
Makes fantasy interesting, but it's a joke if Sky said the scottish game was a blocker, or even if so what about the Friday night (29 Dec)?? Can't believe they've made them play Tuesday and Thursday. :?

Well, City have confirmed their FA Cup 3rd round game as Saturday 6th at 3pm.

The United fixture list still says TBC. Could be Friday night as suggested earlier?

To draw a line under the suspension cut-off confusion earlier in this thread, the FA have confirmed it's 19 games inclusive and not 31st December. See here for more info:

February games delayed by almost a week now

NO Apology

NO Reason

2 Theories

1 Spurs v Arsenal Friday night so awaiting Safety clearance

2 Waiting for EFL Cup Semi Draw

Looks like I've missed a lot of fun and games.

I've finally worked out how to add the FA Cup fixtures to my grids without crashing the update program for a slight technical issue. Also updated the league fixtures and was surprised that only one had changed (Tot v WH). Came here to find out why, so now I know. Was hoping to wind down for Christmas but it looks like another set of changes might come out tomorrow. Happy days.
