Wednesday on Tuesday?

Post by SamD »

Sixth Round FA Cup replays provisionally as follows:
- Swansea v Sheff Wed: Tues 27 Feb, 19:45 GMT
- Spurs v Rochdale: Wed 28 Feb, 20:00 GMT
BBC and BT Sport may alter these for TV coverage; a Wigan v Man City draw tomorrow may also affect timings.

Also, as an indication, over last two seasons:
- FA Cup quarter-final TV schedule was announced on Wed 22 Feb 2017 and Fri 26 Feb 2016
(this year's cup ties will be played between Fri 16 and Sun 18 March; not Mon 19th as international break kicks in)
- April TV league fixture changes were published on Tues 28 Feb 2017 and Fri 26 Feb 2016.

Where in the Far East will they pick for the money-spinning mini-tour?

Seems strange having FA Cup quarter-finals just before an international break, a few teams are likely to get a long break. They’re normally a week earlier aren’t they?

Annoying for the TFF players reading this thread that the final game before their break is the Monday night fixture after everyone else has played.

The only way the Manchester Derby would move is if BOTH Chelsea AND Liverpool were playing in the CL quarter Finals on Tuesday 10th

If just one of them was playing on the Tuesday then they would just move that game to Sat 1230 leaving the Manchester derby at 1730

or even Sunday

It all depends if one or two (or even three) English clubs play on the Tuesday

So if Chelsea play Liverpool on the Tuesday then both their games play Saturday

So City will play Sunday
If all three (or four, which is also possible) play on the following Tuesday in CL, Sky can't have all three PL games on the Saturday, can they? Unless they've got the 19:45 slot reserved maybe?

[edit] Can we even rule out the Friday night slot for the Manchester derby, should City and United both play on the preceding Tuesday?

Meanwhile, what an absolute disgrace by the PL. HTF are fans supposed to plan attendance at games?

The CL Quarters will be either
Tuesday 3rd AND Wednesday 11th
OR
Wednesday 4th AND Tuesday 10th

Remember that UEFA split up the countries teams on each matchday

So if we had two All British Pairings then they would be split between Tuesday and Wednesday each week

What if all 5 English teams get through? They would have to split 2/3 either way. And, depending on fixtures, they could group CHE/MC/LIV all on the same night. And that could be the Wed/Tue grouping. Meaning all three TV games would have to be on the Saturday? Or Sky lose one of the fixtures?

The more I think about it, the more I think we can rule out a Friday night game but not still 100% sure.

City Vs Liverpool will be the Wednesday/Tuesday CL QF schedule so based on the above I assume the Mersey derby goes to Saturday lunchtime?

Or (less likely but never rule out Sky wanting to annoy as many fans as possible): Manc derby is moved to Sat lunchtime and Mersey derby takes over the Saturday teatime slot?
