Probably wait and see on cup exits in the new year (or even use that new year break when teams are supposed to get one weekend off)

GW26 is a two week GW where Liverpool will have Norwich and West ham play City. It is possible to fit it in then but anything could happen.
We will not know until December at the earliest.

Cup dates

Post by SamD »

Liverpool will field different teams in two separate competitions within 24 hours after the EFL announced the date of their Carabao Cup quarter-final with Aston Villa will not be changed.

The Reds will play at Villa on Tuesday 17 December and will compete in the Fifa Club World Cup in Qatar the following day.

Manager Jurgen Klopp had ruled out the prospect of playing both fixtures. But the EFL said keeping the date followed a "request from the club".

Another nail in the league cup coffin.

Could split the players 50/50 as it is 'only' the World semi against maybe an asian/african (i.e. non European / SAmerican) team and the league cup players can fly out later for the final (or stay home to watch the pointless 3rd place game on telly).

And if they lose the League Cup we have 2 date options for the WHam game that needs rearranging.

And Amazon are selling something in their Black Friday sale that I want today and are offering me the 30 day trial.

Not sure if I am a sucker or just being shrewd.........

(PS for TFFers - I note next week's midweek games have kick offs at 1930 and 2015 so you will have a window from just 1915-1930 to see all team news and make transfers)

Due to Premier League teams progressing to the knockout stages of UEFA club competitions, fixture amendments for the month of February will now be released no later than Friday 20 December.

This will allow the League to take into account the outcome of UEFA’s knockout draws, before allocating Premier League fixtures accordingly within the mid-season player break.

The draws for the UEFA Champions League round of 16 and UEFA Europa League round of 32 will be conducted on Monday 16 December.

The mid-season player break will have the 10 fixtures of Matchweek 26, split across the two weekends of 7-10 February and 14-17 February, 2020.

I think it's badly worded, they needed to see which teams would get drawn in which UEFA gameweeks. Though you can easily see a scenario which has 7 games in one week and 3 in the other.

As Liverpool were trounced by Aston Villa in the League Cup quarter-final, their Premier League match at West Ham (postponed this weekend as they're in Qatar to contest the Club World Cup) could be rearranged for either of the midweeks set aside for League Cup ties in January.
Another option is Tues-Wed 14-15 Jan if the FA Cup Merseyside derby in the third round doesn't need a replay.

Carabao League Cup two-legged semi-final dates
Tues 7 January @ 20:00 - Manchester United v Manchester City
Wed 8 Jan @ 20:00 - Leicester v Aston Villa

Tues 28 Jan @ 19:45 - Aston Villa v Leicester
Wed 29 Jan @ 19:45 - Manchester City v Manchester United

Premier League TV rearrangements for February are due to be announced later today.

I dont think so as Sky will want to show it

Sky are showing the League Cup on both nights

So it will have to move to
  • Later in season (Suits Sky)
Or Round 5 midweek if they both lose in the Cup
Or a CL midweek in March(Suits Sky)

Confusing post, murf!

Watford are no longer in League Cup. They have PL matches this weekend and next Tues 21st before FA Cup fourth round ties are played between Fri 24 and Mon 27.

If Wolves beat Man Utd in FA Cup replay tomorrow, Wed, they could arrange to meet winner of Tranmere-Watford on Tues-Wed 28-29, the same midweek when Man C-Man U and Villa-Leic League Cup semis are scheduled.
