Assuming no injuries, I have no obvious transfers. Any opinions please? I'm also undecided on the captain.

Possibly Baines and Konchesky out as I don't like their fixtures. Villa's fixtures are now quite good so maybe Knight is a good replacement?

Thanks FKC. I can afford to get Evra for Konchesky. Baines is on good form, but away to Chelsea would be a good one to avoid, and I can afford Young or Knight.

No I would keep Baines in, just look at his run of points over the last 10 or so gameweeks. I know they have Chelsea next but he has such a high assist potential so you have options with him in terms of point scoring so even if he doesn't get a clean sheet he could get an assist. Also after Chelsea, Evertons fixtures are good. If your sub is good enough you could consider benching Baines for Chelsea game but I certainly wouldn't get rid of him especially if it means you have to pay more to get him back.

Mendy this week demoted himself to permanent sub. With 2 free transfers per week, I can lose Baines, then have the option of buying him back for Hreidarsson for only an extra 0.1m.

I'd probably hold Baines for the reason Goober said, there's the chance of a 0-0 or an assist/goal. I'd agree with the Konchesky to Evra switch, but the rest of the team looks good, you could perhaps use your second transfer to swap Mendy for a cheapie that plays (eg Zayatte at 4.8 who's been my sub for a while now... 90 minutes every week and a few clean sheets in there)

Captain's got to be Ronaldo unless you think he'll be rested again.

I could abandon Mendy for the Shawcross bandwagon, bring in Evra for Baines, and bench Konchesky as a strong sub in case of FA cup injuries. Keane is in line for the armband as a "guaranteed" starter.

Next week I would look to offload my Pompey pair and bring back Baines.

Thanks for the opinions - good food for thought.

Mendy is an injury doubt so that clinches plan C above. I hope to be pushing for a top 10 spot if my captaincy gamble pays off. Cue Baines goal and bonus.

<edit - bonus - what am I talking about?! Confused myself as Baines remains in my FPL team.>
