Your Favourite Ever Dream Team Player

Post by Jules »

Ok, as we’re all bored waiting for the International break to finish, I thought we could play a little game by asking the question:

Who is your favourite ever Dream Team player and why?

The only rules are that you can only name one player per post and you can’t pick a player who has already been mentioned.

Go!

My favourite ever Dream Team player is Michu. He was a bargain midfielder who scored over 20 goals in his debut season, pretty much single-handedly winning me a pick and stick mini league that season. He also helped me win the following season, as he tanked so badly that loads of decent teams fell short because they were expecting more of the same. I think he got like a couple of goals in a dozen or so appearances before disappearing off the face of the earth!

RVP

I can't say for any good reasons if I'm honest as he always got injured not long after picking him in a transfer window but I continued to believe he was the one to have season after season as when he was fit he would score well.

I'm sure there are more obvious picks I could say but he is the one player who always used to have the biggest effect on my teams season after season

Berbatov
1. In his first season at spurs he smashed it all season long. I had him from the start and walked my mini league that year. :D
2. When he was at Man U, he scored about 5 goals in 1 match and didn’t get starman which Probably sent Dot into a right spin which is always value

Don't have a clear favourite Dream Team player as when one wins cash it's often difficult to place the reason for success on one individual, but two players do stick in my memory as fantasy favourites.

James Beattie in 2002/3, a cheapie without whose contribution I wouldn't have won Sky in 2002/3, and Nicholas Anelka whose pass to Lampard in the 2008/9 Cup Final won me £100,000 20 minutes from the end of the season.

My least favourite Dream Team player is Mertesacker whose 30 second cameo at the end of added time in the 2014 World Cup Final knocked me out of second place in Dream Team World Cup, costing me the difference between £7500 and £3000.

Not forgetting Darren Bent of course .
I was lucky enough to have him in from the start . Cheep and outscoring the big boys in many cases .
Fantasy gold as they say :D

Nice topic and good question by Jules.

My favourite ever dream team player is Dimitri Payet. In my first season playing SDT, I brought Payet into my side in Feb 2016 and his real life (and dream team) performances from then was world class. For a 2.5m midfielder, he was the fantastic: goals, assists and star man awards nearly every week. His football technique was so good and his free kicks especially against Crystal Palace live long in the memory.

He also did well for me in Euro 16.

Jon Terry, not nessesarily my favourite dt player by a long shot, but the one who had the biggezt impact on my team in a mini lge.

It was before he became well known(think he was 17/18 when i noticed him) when he got his chance at chelsea towards the back end of the season, the following season he was 2/2.5m so i stuck him in.
Scored around 250/300 pts that season & i was winning my works/pub ML by over 200pts by xmas(mostly due to him).

It was when tw's were few n far between so nobody could stick him in for ages....ahh happy days :D

Actually I said one per post, but that was to try and avoid people listing a bunch of players without giving a decent reason for choosing them.

Only been playing seriously for 6-7 years but it’s gotta be Hazard for me. Mainly due to his consistency, although I know he had that one bad season under Mourinhos last season at Chelsea. He is just oozes sheer class and is looking like will be top scorer this season.

My favourite newcomer is B.Silva - not sure how much playing time he’ll get when De Bruyne is back but if he keeps going the way he does he could easily get 200+ points this season ( and that ain’t bad for a 3.5 mill starting price midfielder )

I always had a penchant for left-backs. I seem to remember one season having four in my defence. To pick one... John Arne Riise. He always seemed to be playing more as a winger and scored some screamers too.
