The Only info I can find on VDV is that ge is a doubt tonight on the BBC. They also say Ade is too.

Does anyone have a news on this. Anyone thinking is Saha if he plays? I would like to ship in Suarez but liverpools league cup miss is making me doubt.

Advice welcome

Wouldn't trust the bbc when it comes to team news, just look at their new website. I keep thinking I've logged on to the AA site.
Defoe and Lennon major doubts, VDV unsure. No talk of Ade.

New week, same saga:

Kuyt also revealed he has been sharing some good natured banter with Dutch colleague and key Tottenham schemer Rafael van der Vaart.

"We have shared a couple of texts and he is doing really well for Spurs," he added.

"He has been struggling with an injury but he told me he will be fine for Monday".

Sky Sports onlnie preview states "Adebeyor hobbled off on Tuesday with a hamstring complaint" and has Saha replacing him in their likely line up - not definitive but have read he is a doubt elsewhere too (I may have jinxed him by bringing him in for Rooney least week :( )

So having kept both to save my tinker fingers fir another week the BBC has VDV as a definite non starter this weekend. Should i swap with Ba or keep as in all likelihood he won't play against Stevenage next week. Or, and this would be good, he returns next week and Harry puts him in for game time and he bags a hatful!!

I could have posted exactly what you just said here. I've held on to VDV a bit longer than intended as his points were pretty steady and sat on things last week when I found out he wasn't playing. Now he's out tomorrow and funds dictate that Ba looks about the best option to replace him - just a shame Newcastle are out of the cup. I think he will get plenty of game time and him and Cissse both looked up to speed in last week's game after their ACN trip. Pretty sure I'm going to go for Ba (16 transfers left and happy with the rest of the team). Then VDV will come back against Stevenage and get a hatful of points!

i'm another in the vdv camp. as he appears to be out again today, i'm also going to ship him out.

i have 0.5 million spare.

i also still have, larsson - wrong sunderland midfielder, i know.

currently 13 transfers left. already have silva, bale, mata, rvp and aguero.

i can just remove vdv, and options considered include ba, dempsey, gerrard, sturridge, valencia, walcott, yakubu, zamora, and obviously sessgnon.

i'm also looking at some different guys like siggurdson, morison or mclean.

any thoughts, anyone?

Oxlade-Chamberlain - seems to be running in to form and would free up big funds for elsewhere?

I'm certainly considering a switch from Larsson to him week after the cup game.

I stuck with him hoping he gets a hatful next week (if he plays)

Glad I stuck with Ade though :-)

Success in this game is all about bringing in the right players when they hit their form.

You probably overlooked him because before this game Adebayor hadn't shown any decent form for quite a number of matches (8 without scoring is not good). Its taken a lot of faith for managers to keep him in their teams throughout his goal drought.

If Spurs weren't still in the cup I would have dumped him myself a while ago. Glad I kept hold now, although he did appear to injure himself scoring the goal yesterday. Anyone got any news on that?

It looked like he picked up a knock as he scored but this happened on about 60 minutes and he managed to finish the match without being subbed, so hes probably fine.

I moved up about a thousand places into the top 500 with Adebayor. On that basis, it can be assumed that not too many kept hold of him. That surprises me considering the FA cup game next week.

I was surpised to find myself in the top 800 today as well and can pnly attribute it to Adebayor. I expect those with lots of City players to push me out the top 1000 again later today

ade in 20% of teams, and is the 4th highest picked striker (after v persie, aguero and rooney)

yep, i missed out on him too - as someone else suggested, he wasn't scoring particularly heavily points-wise. should have guessed he'd return to form against the magpies...!

Especially after I subbed him out for Ba when returned from ACN last week

FS Record: Would be alot better but for Andy L & E !
I would imagine alot of players took Adebayor out on the sunday b4 he couldnt play against Man C and since then there hasnt been many obvious opportunities to get him back in - last weekend there was doubts abt his hammy so Sturridge was more attractive on sunday for players like Sinclair/Dempsey etc. Its was only Warnock who played on the sunday who ended up going to Adebayor when the formation let me for instance!
What surprised me is the seemingly rush to Ba given Newcastle arent in the Cup!

I'll add a Spurs related question to this thread:

Is Saha cup tied? He didn't play against Tamworth, but he was named as a sub against Fulham in the last round of the cup, but he didn't come on. Does that mean he's cup tied? Or not?

I'm assuming not, as he didn't play, even though he was named as a sub?

In answer: Louis Saha is not cup-tied.

Ok. So spurs have a tough run after the cup. Who is a good replacement now vdv is out this week(just seen arry say he is doubtful for next week on SSN) Credentials - in the fa cup. Playing tomorrow. Prem regular. I have sessegnon and Mata 4-4-2. Thoughts are - sturridge, crouch, holt, walcott??

Lots of choice for you with VDV at 5.5m.You can only be certain on Stoke and Chelsea teamsheets this weekend.
Sturridge is a good bet ahead of the hapless Torres (will he ever recapture good form again?) However Drogba and Kalou will return in the next match from the ANC and then striker rotation may affect your points. Chelsea defence is very ropey at the moment and JT and Cole have injuries too.

Crouch does not seem prolific enough to me - he has not scored or assisted for a while now. Will he pick up a hatful away at Crawley Town? I'm guessing not.

Walcott is a bit out of favour with Arsene at the moment and could be dropped/rested - maybe go for the Ox instead.

Everton have a good run of fixtures - Jelavic/Straqularsi or maybe try for clean sheets with Baines/Heitinga

Gerrard and Suarez could score well if you think Liverpool can finish the season on a high after the Suarez-Evra saga.

Holt is a very good choice of yours and I'd go for this one -- scoring very well and only in 1% of teams. Good upcoming fixtures too apart from the next one against Man Utd.

This is definitely important this weekend. I went through all the possibly switches for this weekend, and most involved going to a Liverpool or Everton player. (Cole to Baines, VDV or Ade to Suarez etc). But both teams not playing next weekend makes any changes pointless.

Another weekend to sit on your hands, even if you only end up having 3 or 4 playing!

I would hold, as the boat sailed a while back on this one - there was a many for very few (or none vdV) with Sunderland and a few others a little while ago.

What there was a while ago has no bearing on what one should do now.
