I decided to remove Molinari from all my FG teams this week.

No doubt someone will mention 'beware the injured golfer' :)

I fancy Stricker this week. A US victory is very much ovedue.

McIlroy has hurt his wrist playing his ball from a bad lie. He looks unsure about it, applying ice and shaking his head a lot. 50/50 he pulls out I think.

edit, certainly looks like he's out, wincing in pain at the next tee shot.

Jay Townsend was spot on - what an idiot and what was his caddie doing letting him take that shot on?

And why is the caddie letting him play on? If he continues he could do lasting damage

Edit: Darren Clarke has told him to get it sorted but why has it taken a fellow player to have to tell him

Edit 2: And he's still carrying on

Looks like the pain is easing (says the man with Rory in his best team :) ) I hope he can carry on without doing long term damage.

He's just went birdie - birdie so it's not hindering his game.

And a great chance of 3 in a row ................ lets hope he's ok as you say but will it be better tomorrow morning or will it stiffen up? He'll have a chance of taking more anti-inflamatories i guess and have access to the best physio but its still a huge risk. Its so early in the round and he's got a lot of shots to hit and a lot of potential for more damage.

Still a crazy shot to take on though................

My man David Love is in at -2 though so who cares! :D

Jay Townsend is a complete knobend, whose commentary I was unfortunately privy to at The Open made turn the radio off.

McIlroy has just said that he knows he has 6-7 months to recover before the Masters, it's a Major, he wasn't going to quit.

Not to mention that some twit apparently tried to call in and get him DQd for illegal advice from the trainer on 12. PGA confirmed he is in the clear. I thought we'd got past that viewer calling in nonsense

Stickler is possibly the best player without a major

I like when he cries during his victory speech...

That would be one of those poor unfortunates that laid him at 160/1

That may be the case. I don't like him either.

But he has repeatedly said that some of Rory's course management has been questionable at best and placing significant blame on his caddie for not saying much during his meltdown in the Masters.

In this case Townsend was proved right again about course management: McIlroy could not reach the green even if he'd hit his shot well. He had the choice of a sideways shot and then a second to the green from there with no risk.

McIlroy's course management will improve with age and experience, not very clever playing a shot risking injury just a few holes into a major.

Interesting to see if Stricker can go low again in the second round, if he does then it could be all over before the weekend.

J.B. Holmes withdraws after falling ill.

Rory starts round 2 (badly  )

Which is why his caddie has such an important role to play

Goosen the latest to withdraw.

Looks tough out there, average score today looks to be about 2+
Cut may drop to 4+ at this rate.

So who's going to win it then?

See Rory's just taken 6 on the first hole, so no miracles from the wonder kid

Potential for some serious fading away amongst the leaders :?

Logic tells me Scott, Stricker and Westwood will rise to the top, but have a sneaky feeling Bradley will hang around, unlike last week.

Should be great viewing, lots still in with a chance :)

If my ego was as big as my belly Id have three separate threads up by now

Going to be tough for him to stay there and before anyone asks I didnt take any odds and only with Scqartzel and Mickleson in an OFL team.
