You gotta link, as I have heard these rumours before, only to be dissapointed?

Just mentioned to the Woolstess 10 minnutes ago that it had not been released yet when David Lynch was just on the culture show

does this include the (half of) series 3 too (i.e. the end of the program)?

Now got this after ordering from amazon.com (US only release at the mo so you need a multi region dvd player). 6 whole DVD's of series 2 :D

Watched a couple of minutes just to check they played ok and they're working fine. Worth noting from the little bit I've seen that though they claim to be remastered there's no way it's been done to the same quality as the Series 1 that's been out for a few years. Pleased to have finally got my hands on a copy 8-)

Hi Vannie

The stuff I downloaded a while back ended with Agent Cooper getting possessed by Bob - he was manically squeezing toothpaste into a sink.

Is this really the end or does your DVD have more?

I dont remeber him squeezing toothpaste, but that was the end. The most annoying/greatest cliffhanger of all time :x :? :D

If the dvd has more, its a farce

I never actually saw it all the way to the end  but thanks for the spoilers

I'll answer in a couple of weeks when I've worked my way through the series

Yes the series ended with a cliffhanger and because it had already been cancelled by that point the writers themselves have admitted that they have no idea what was going to happen in a third series.

Best guess is that Major Briggs would have become a more central character.

Twin Peaks would be my Mastermind subject. Anyone with questions about the show or the interpretations of what happend... feel free to ask.

I do have a question actually Karrde. At what stage of the series do you recommend that I watch Fire Walk with Me (or is it not important when you watch it)?

Thanks

I think it would be better to watch after as it was made after, even though it is a prequal.

I can't really remember, but it probably clears a few things up and answers a couple of questions you might have, but one of things that brings us back to things like this and Lost is you want the questions answered, but if you know the answer before the question is asked, it is not as much fun. Bit hungover so not sure if that is clear

One question-

As Twin Peaks went dramatically downhill where would be the best place to stop watching it if watching it afresh from the beginning???

(same question to anyone with a time machine who has already watched all the episodes they'll ever make of Lost)

(Caveat - except Fast Forwarding to the bits with Audrey Horne in)

Certainly didn't IMO (or that of the millions of viewers who deserted it causing it to be cancelled)

Series 2 had it moments and was still very good by normal TV standards, but it was nowhere near as good as series 1, IMHO.

Dont watch FWWM until you have seen the entire series or you will not have a clue whats going on at all! The film is even weirder than the tv show.

Regarding the series two going down hill.

There could be something in that to be fair. The original story was obviously the who done it, however that is cleared up by episode 12. There were a couple of story arcs that filled time that did stink. The James Hurley and the Older Woman thing is painful for example.

However, things cook up again after a brief lull, and even during the lull there is enough going on to make it the best show ever.

Once Windome Earle gets going then the series gets right back onto form, and the paranormal influence jumps right up again. Anyone who likes the show and doesnt watch the last 6 episodes is a dick!

I'm afraid I'm going from very old memories but I remember it all getting a bit 'weird for the sake of it' once the original story ideas had played through. Just like Lost it seemed like they then made it up as they went along. Some good stuff (e.g. Windome Earl) but a lot of dross too. It became too paranormal/surreal as it was originally great as a drama based on small town life with the weirdness in some ways just being the cherry (pie) on top.

Obviously they couldnt ignore the paranomal. Once you have a very obvious issue that a spirit called Bob is on a rampage you then at some point have to point the story in the direction of finding out why and then where he comes from!

The way they did it was pretty good imo. Having a rogue FBI guy looking to harness this power was a good way of keeping the real world and the other world linked.

Plus with a story like that, it leaves an awful lot open to interpretation. Which I like.

Through the darkness of futures past
The Magician longs to see
One chant out between two worlds.
FIRE WALK WITH ME!

ok, trying to read this thread without noticing possible spoilers from the last couple of episodes 8-) is not the easiest thing in the world  I think I've managed to pick up that I should wait until I've finished series 2 before tackling Fire walk.

Cheers all :D

Even then there is a chance you still wont understand the film. Its pretty nutty! Good though once you get that "aha! now i get it" moment

Oops - sorry for the toothpaste 'spoiler' Vannie.

If any thought that Twin Peaks is obscure, you should try Mulholland Drive. I've seen it lots of times and still can't work out what happens.

Is there a more confusing film out there? (with or without toothpaste)

btw - has anyone seen Boat (Lynch's latest movie)?

 don't worry jim, I've seen most of it before and I didn't specify no spoilers  Not really a fan of Lynch's other work, think Dune finished me off...

Yep - The Prisoner is pretty wacky at times - but a full movie of Lynch's trippy intensity is often too much for one sitting.

Having said that - I'll watch it again soon (with an A4 pad to make copious notes this time).

In FWWM, two questions:

1. David Bowie's character???

2. The grainy room, close-up/ zoom-into one of the character's mouth?

Please explain??????????????????????????
