Hey guys, first time ever player of this wonderful, wonderful game! I'm a long time fantasy sports player so just looking to understand the finer details. Help me with this scenario...

I have VanPersie for W1. Transfer him out for Tevez (who should be cheaper) for W2, leaving some cash left over. Rebuy VanPersie for W3.

Something tells me it cannot be this clear-cut. Appreciate any help/advice. Cheers!

presuming no price changes, thats fine. problems arise when prices change while you hold a player as you only get a 50% cut in the price increase.

Cheers!
As someone who's never played this before, do prices change dramatically week to week?
Are they in 0.5 - 1.0 million incriments?
Is it possible to make profit from selling players each time their price goes up, therefore you have "more" than 100 million budget?
Is what i'm suggesting above wise?

MUCH appreciated!!

These two threads cover pretty much every scenario regarding the game's transfer system as far as I can see. :)

Prices go up by 0.1 at a time. Price rises (or falls) of 0.2 in a week are not uncommon. Anything above that is rare. See the 2006/07 cracking the code thread for information on how prices changed last season (it's a bit complicated!)

Yes, you can make a profit by careful buying and selling. There was a manager called Jennifer Smythe (also called Jenninho round these parts) who ended up with a team value of something like 120m by the end of the season.

While that works - I don't think it is clear cut.

You using up your free transfers for 2 weeks just to have Tevez play once - if indeed he does play ... and if he does - that he gets some points for you.

If you need to do this as well to get 11 players for GW2 (and therefore can't put VP on your bench) - then fair enough - but if not is it really worth it.

Using your free transfers in the first few weeks to sorting other areas of your squad (there's always a necessary adjustment once we know what's what) may be a better option.

If you make 2 transfers each week, 1 for the VP/Tevez switch and 1 for the other stuff you're going to have to do (unless you're extremely lucky), then it will cost you 8 points. So Tevez is going to have to do better than 8 points for you to break-even.

That would be how I'd look at it anyway.
