Runner-up:

There's also a runners-up prize of an overnight stay at the Marine Hotel in North Berwick, including a round of golf at either Craigielaw, The Glen or Kilspindie - the choice is yours!

The next 50 entrants...

... will all receive a dozen Srixon AD333 golf balls - worth £25 a box!

NEW: Private League Championship Winners:

Set up a Private League and you could win a day of golf at The Belfry’s PGA National course for you and your mates!

The top five points scorers in your league will generate your Private League cumulative score, with the top two leagues at the end of the competition each winning a round for up to 10 people.

Monthly Prizes:

The highest scoring entrant during each month of the Today's Golfer Winter Golf competition will win a dozen Wilson golf balls.

Please note that prizes will be awarded for the calendar months of November, December and January, with points scored in tournaments starting in one month and ending in another counting towards the month in which the event started.

Great to see a prize for the top 2 "private leagues"

The email I received states;
Quote:
NEW: PRIZES FOR TOP 2 PRIVATE LEAGUES
Get your private league set up, keep your mates playing and you could win a day of golf at The Belfry’s PGA National course for up to 10 people. The top 10 point scorers in your team will generate your private league score – the top 2 private leagues at the end of the season win.

However the site says it's the top 5 teams :?

Either way, just what we need to keep those FISO fantasy golf brains ticking over in the long winter months :D

As there are prizes for the Top 2 Private Leagues will we be setting up a second Private League, or will we be putting all our eggs in one basket.?

Padmole & wife pending for joining the league.
If we just had a reasonable turnout then the top superleague would be a distinct possibility?

I expect at least 5 of us to be in the top 100 come the end of the comp- Mr King make sure you are not 4th! Unlucky in the other comp

I dont think this is going to be an event to get too excited over. If youdont get 4 or 5 in top 20 then it means picking some real wild cards in the future weeks.

80% of teams will have:-

Cabrera
Choi
harrington
Singh

So as long as you avoided Els, Storm, Monty, Immelman & Garcia then jobs a good one!

2 teams - Wife and I

Cabrera
Choi
Harrington
Singh
Doherty
Randhawa

Harrington
Choi
Cabrera
Poulter
Westwood
Pampling****

Sure that a few will have Mr Fasth who was one of my favourites all through the summer (But didnt include him after seeing the 79 he shot last week that had ball striking not to dis-similar to my own!).

Definitely an event where being Fasth out of the blocks will be key (One Mr Green would have been proud of!)

Certain that our Fiso teams will be fighting for top spot and the day of golf!

Come on

Well played Sam, but not really the start we were looking for in the Private League Championship :( .

Having said that, we are 17th out of 200 (at least) .

Wonder how many individual entries they had?

I reckon about 8000 entries (last in our league is 7889 place on 12 points)

Can't be too many behind that.

Estimate there are around 8,500 entries. There's a team on nought in joint 8477th place:
http://todaysgolfer.fantasyleague.com/Team.aspx?p=3885

Some initial thoughts:

- Well done to Today's Golfer and Fantasy League for organising a free winter game.

- The 8,500 individual entries equates to four or five times the number in FL's main golf contest (estimate there were 2,000 teams from 1,500 managers in 2007?). This suggests there's a healthy appetite for golf games. Can FL can find a way to tempt 'newcomers' into signing up for the 2008 version next March? Or will the £15 fee and/or the challenge from multi-entrants put 'em off?
Hope not...

- Not sure about the merits of a 'Private League' Championship. The rules do not prohibit a new group being created by five people who are doing well currently. And the best side in the FISO league is a lowly joint 128th overall...

You can expect there to be 5 guys from the Fiso league in the top 100 within the next 4 weeks though!

Mixed bag for me this week - My team & that of the wife - chose 12 different players

Karlsson
Kjeldsen
Goosen
McDowell
Derksen
ROMERO

then

Choi
Dyson
Jiminez
A Hansen
M Weir
MCILROY

not 6 good ones in either so not much help from me this week!

From memory I think we only had 1 finisher in the top 100 (Spencer), so I don't think it will be that easy !

Having said that, I think FISO stands a good chance as most of the leagues above have less than 10 members.

Great stuff John, you finished, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 6th, 12th, 66th

I finished, 1st, 2nd, 2nd, 6th, 12th, 29th,

I had Jaidee instead of Karlsson,

Best rounds were, Choi, Immelman, Fraser/Hedblom, Jaidee/Derksen I think, so I may have pipped you :D

Others probably beat both of us though :?
