any regrets? anything youd have done different looking forward

i didnt think it made any sense to use it early, did it considerably pay off early doors for anyone? and how confident are you in your players

i imagine many got the likes of yakubu, which is rotten luck, but now many will be stuck in that price range for a replacement of which there are few you'd really want long term

also so early before the transfers get completed, the likes of kompany and gary cahill could soon become excellent picks, edin hazerd, darren bent, defoe and even vorm could be on the move in jan

I wish I'd got Rooney in.

very happy I used mine when I did - I really didnt see the point in waiting ....might not come off but at least it gives me half a chance of getting some big hitters in that others wont have for a few weeks

Other reason is that there was some price rises on players who I think are likely to be bandwagons with the fixtures they have...dempsey, ses, ben arfa ect ..was nice to get them in before they went up .2

Always planned to have Rooney, aguerro, van persie up front for the second half so it made sense to do it as early as possible.

If I had done better in the first half I might have waited but as it is I need to try and play my way back up the rankins

No regrets what so ever. Still get the free transfers so cahill will be in this week and if any other bargains come up next week i have another transfer then.

With silva, gerrard, nani, bale, aguero, sturiddge, rvp can always downgrade if needed and unlikely to need to upgrade... all i feel im missing is rooney and lamps.

If i had waited then i would have lost out to price rises as currently have a big zero in the bank.

Now even more pleased I got sess and dempsey in straight away .... especially as I captained dempsey.

80 point week, back in the game in my mini leagues .... very, very pleased with the early wildcard.

Garath - I see in the wildcard thread you have played and you are getting in sess and dempsey in - at a higher price amd 60 points less than 2 weeks ago ... any regrets you didnt go with the wildcard earlier?

I actually looked back at this thread the other day when I saw his wildcard thread. Waiting for all those transfers to happen really worked out too.

ha ha

not really I scored fairly well without them, got a green arrow just about, id all but talked myself out of dempsey in my wildcard and sessegnon wasnt in my thinking (mcclean) so had i gone early I wouldnt have got them I dont think so probably a good thing.

Played it because I've picked up a few injuries and my bench was poor, dempsey and sessgnon have won me over and will make me some good money before the deadline, they also have good fixtures so best make hay while the sun shines...

one of my very rare good calls this season. :?

Was just massively impressed with Dempsey in the Arsenal game...he was awesome for me in the run in last season - he could have had 2 goals and an assist or two last week as well.

I always planned to use my wildcard early but as my teams looked ok for a couple of weeks I waited until last week. Worked out very well as I brought in Sess and Dempsey, but that aside I dont really see much value in keeping it to the last week if you can improve you side earlier.

No doubt players will move on deadline day but perhaps 4 or 5 at most will impact FPL. As seeing as you shouldnt really need a transfer a week after a wildcard, you can save it and have 2 if need be later on. Last week worked out perfectly for me as I had a strong looking team for a couple of weeks then a horrible looking one for the last gameweek. But either way I would aim to play sooner rather than later.

I used it immediately despite planning not to, there were too many players I wanted rid of (the hugely off form Rooney being one, along with the newly turned 2pt machine Adebayor). Bringing in Sessegnon & Dempsey (34 points between them this week) & selling Vorm at 4.6 (got him at 4.0) for Lindegaard is already looking good as Caulker at 4.0 more than makes up for it when Swans have an easy game. So yeah, was worth using early.

Yes lots of regrets. I went for it two weeks too early. This was due to the length of my injured/flagged player list and potentially going into a GW with only 9 available. With hindsight I should have tried to ride that GW out and made much more sweeping/radical changes than wasting a wild card for just 4 changes in the end. I now have to try and make other changes to get the team where I want it to be one transfer at a time.

Didn't plan to use it as early as i did.

All the way through the season my squad was relatively injury-free up until the xmas schedule where my team got decimated so i had no choice but to play it.

Overall i'm quite happy but holding off until the final week to use it would have been ideal.

Glad I played it early, not sure why anyone would wait unless they are really happy with their team. More weeks with a better team will surely yield more points than hanging onto an average team for another 3/4 weeks of low scoring. My only advice would be sure you don't want to bring anyone back whom you transfer out while tinkering as it will obviously cost you money to bring them back if they were risers! I understand people maybe waiting for transfers but tbh January transfers aren't too common and I wouldn't readily bring in anyone who hadn't settled into a new team yet in any case.

Playing it early really worked out with 137pts in the last 2 wks and over 1.0 in price rises, which actually is 1.4 as I dropped 0.4 with the changes. Best decision I've made in ff.

And with me having had like the two worst gameweeks this season, I regret not having used it earlier though I was confident enough my team would kick arse (even with Drenthe being stubbornly kept in)

That's pretty much why I'm playing it next Tuesday.

It seems most of who I've chatted to wished they'd waited until next week, but it does depend on how your team is.

I can't see me making more than 3 changes when I do WC, so it's not going to be all that useful for me anyway.

Also, if any of you still have your overall WC, then playing it early was probs the best idea, as you can always correct it in the next few GWs.

Difficult one this; in hindsight I should have used it but only because in last three weeks I've suffered with 135 points total. However when I look at the fixtures my players had throughout those games, there's no way I could use it as I wouldn't have made more than 3 changes in any week. Baines, Nani, Jagielka, Adebayor, Sturridge, Yakubu, Kompany are a long list of huge failures I wouldn't have chosen to swap at the time. GW23  GW24 will see at least 10 WC changes.

From your current team: Evans, Kelly, Dempsey, Bale ('fixture proof'), Silva, Sturridge (current best pick from Chelsea's attack) and Fletcher are 7 I'd consider keeping.

But agree the other 8 would move on.

No regrets at all, my team was very samey to the rest of my league, used it, lost ground to 70 points from the leader but in the second week I outscored the leader by 38 points and cut the lead to 32 simply because of the differentials I brought in namely Sessengon, Ben Arfa and Dempsey.

The only thing I do regret is Gerrard over Silva but ive now done that transfer.

I'm now in a position to try to win my money league, 32 points is nothing and that's because of the wc.

If players move to clubs there is still one transfer a week to get them in.

Same as me, and with the same players, haha :) I was out of the running but the WC has put me back in with a shot, also my other mini league leader has used his to make 3 bemusing transfers lol.

Feels good don't it?

Thing is those players have nice fixtures this week too, the 3 above me can use their cards now but the damage is done, I made up over 30 points on all 3 and it served its purpose.

I feel like I have a good balance, strong squad and good fixtures to push on.

Too true, I have no idea who to pick this week to be honest.
Mignolet, Ben Arfa, Kelly and Santon on the bench atm.

That's another good reason to play the wildcard imo, to upgrade the enablers to the latest vogue.

What's your team?

Going

Lindergaard
Evans Richards Dawson
Ben Arfa, Sessengon, Dempsey, Bale, Silva
Rooney, van Persie

Vorm, Simpson, Caulker, Morrison.

Really fancy myself this week for another good one as the wc set it up good.

Pretty happy at the moment, United and Chelsea semi block defence with decent cover. 4 very attacking Mids (2 of which are playing up front pretty much) and 2 big hitters up top.
Then any 1 from the other 4. (Keane this week).

Lindegaard

Evans J
Cahill G
Bosingwa

Sessegnon
Dempsey
Silva
Bale

Aguero
Keane
Van Persie (C)

Subs
Mignolet
Ben Arfa
Kelly
Santon
