Rules

1. The template for your team is Alan Hansen's XI.

Van Der Sar
Hutton, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra
Bullard, Gerrard, Modric, Cahill
Torres, Camara

2. You must make at least one and no more than two changes to this team by the 14th August 2008.

3. You must enter your team in the superleague as soon as possible. The chairman will distribute the league name and password by PM to all the players.

Each chairman will post the league table on a Wednesday (or as often as he sees fit).

4. Post your starting team in the following manner

cech

eboue
agger
terry out, r. ferdinand in
warnock

bentley
parker
gerrard
robben

berbatov out, rooney in
johnson

so that everyone can clearly see your free transfers.

5. Following the start of the season manage your team in the normal way.

6. The leagues will be open so that everyone can see everyone else's teams.

7. Your team name must include your FISO name and the word eggcup.

8. Each league contains 12 players and there will be a 3 up, 3 down promotion and relegation at the end of the season.

9. The winner of each league wins a bespoke egg cup and a cash prize

Premiership £100
Division 1 £75
Division 2 £50
Division 3 £25

10. When you make a transfer you should post on the relevant thread giving the changes made and reasons for it. You must also use the following template:

Current Team
Reina
Terry
Lescott
Carvalho
Clichy
Lampard
Ronaldo
Arteta
Ballack J. Cole
Drogba
Adebayor Berbatov

Transfers Remaining: 0
Current Cost: £48.6m

Reason for Transfer(s):
Ballack out for the season.
Berb 3 for 1 over Adebayor

11. There will be a cup competition which runs automatically alongside the league competition. I will announce the weeks for the cup competition when all the leagues have been finalised. There may also be a Champions League and UEFA Cup competition.

12. Further details can be found on the egg cup admin thread.

13. Above all, enjoy yourselves, have a bit of banter and may the best man win.

zipnolan has kindly agreed to be league chairman and he will set up the league in due course and send out the password to all of you.

Once he has done that, I would appreciate if you could all get your teams in as quickly as possible please.

You don't have to have made your changes at this stage.

Im also unlikely to get much chance to look at this over the next week, so have already made a couple of changes:

van der Sar
Evra
Vidic
Hutton
Ferdinand
Gerrard
Cahill D Murphy
Modric
Bullard
Torres
Camara Zaki

- Obviously Camara has to go, Zaki has a great scoring record for Egypt, and seems to have hit the ground running
- Cahill an injury doubt (as always), not particularly happy about having two cheap Fulham midfielders, but if Murphy gets an understanding with Johnson he could be a bargain

I'm in...

Van Der Sar
Hutton
Ferdinand Bale
Vidic
Evra
Bullard
Gerrard
Modric
Cahill
Torres
Camara Bent

Obvious changes - Camara must go so Bent is a good replacement. Ferdinand must go to raise the cash - simple as. Added risk (or advantage) is that a semi Man U Tot defence. Could be disastrous but has balance.

Good luck all - especially Andy B - with unlimited transfers a week can you get past week 2 with any left?

Still missing pixies, Latic and Grant. Reminded Grant last week at the FISO pokergame, and Latic pm'ed me to say he'd be in later this week. No word from pixies.

Missing entries from Grant (I have resent the password to him) and pixies (believed to have withdrawn).

Several players need to tone up their teams to make them legal. If we don't get the original thread back, I will post the legal teams' changes some time tomorrow night.

 Another thread bites the dust.

Aye Pixies has Pixd off. Dunno about Grant.

My team changes were:

Steinsson for Ferdinand
Alves for Cahill
4-3-3, 49.1M
Reason: Frees up some funds Camara, may pick up the odd point here & there.

Obviously with all these threads going then Lip's announcement that we can use Mourinho's team instead has bitten the dust? ;)

Oh I bloody wish!

Have done Ferdinand to Bale and Camera to Bent

This is to raise some cash and get rid of Camera.

I may still get rid of Cahill, but don't think I can do this until after kick -off tomorrow. Anyone still think Hansen will change his team

Hopefully you can get in before kick off as it's still showing a random team for you, Andy.

My dubious moves :

Ferdinand  G. Neville
Camara  Alves

Trying to get a bit more money, and keeping the MU block intact despite their fixture miss early in the season. Would like to have Bent, but still can't afford him. I have a feeling Neville might be good for a few partial clean sheets this season. Hope Alves scores a few - will keep a watching brief on Cahill / Hutton injuries.

Briefly..

gerrard  lampard better player
torres  adebayor better start and cheaper

team value = 49.7m

if deadline was midnight thursday then someone in the league managed a swift change around after deadline... which makes it all a bit Dyer

The Telegraph seems to be slow at updating line-ups in the mini-league (though the team value seems to be correct). Combined with the thread disappearing its difficult to know what has been going on - there may well have been a bit of rule-bending, but we all have to start with (at least) 9 of Hansen's team

OK, well apart from the above, I see:

Vid:
Hutton  McCartney
Modric  Boa Morte

Bagpuss:
Cahill  Murphy
Camara  Zaki (not what was announced above!)

Bunners:
Ferdinand  Johnson
Camara  Alves

Anubis:
Cahill  M Taylor

Apart from that, things are in a bit of a mess. Grant not entered, pixies not going to enter, andycoull with an auto-generated team and possibly not able to put it right by first kick-off.

Don't know what others think, but I am happy enough if people can get in with a legal team by kick-off, although the deadline was officially Thursday. I'd prefer to have a full league rather than to start imposing penalties or booting from the league.

Think the points Wes Brown scores before a punitive transfer is enforced are cancelled in a Leeds / Luton style scenario.

I'm sure thelip will confirm

That's the trouble with being on holiday and playing this game. I was sure that Hansen would make changes so I didn't put in any effort and had to grab an hour during my holiday.

The irony is that my original team - which had Ferdinand in - had Ashton as a replacement for Camara ! When I wrongly wrote Brown down, I realised I could afford the more prolific Bent

I am not too familar with the penalties but if I need to transfer Brown to Ferdinand, which then forces a second change as the cost of the team will be too high, then surely dropping 2 transfers is punishment enough :?: In this scenario, surely if I dont get Browns points, I get Ferdinand's.

Did Leeds etc get 2 punishments or 1 ?

The other alternative I suppose is that I keep the team as is and pay a penalty of one transfer for making too many transfers.

It would be harsh IMO to penalise points and transfers. This was a genuine mistake and should be treated as such. It has cost me points already but not having Ashton as per original plan.

I have no idea what the answer is, Im happy to let thelip or zip decide

The fact is that (admittedly by mistake) you have kept a Man U block, been able to transfer out the injured Cahill, and upgrade Camara to Bent (a transfer many chose to make, but had to break up the Utd block to do it). So far, its not really been a benefit, but its hard to deny it hasn't given you an advantage.

To be fair, it does seem like you got yourself well and truly confused. Ashton is more expensive than Bent so theres no way you had him & Rio in your team unless you found an extra £1.8m from somewhere with your other transfer.

Without wanting to appear too much of a wimp, I think this will have to be decided by thelip -it's his competiton. Can't do too much until the transfer freeze is lifted after the Bank holiday, I'd have thought.

Getting married at the weekend (I know - in the football season!)& unlikely to get much opportunity to look at this again for a while:

van der Sar
Evra
Vidic
Hutton  Kaboul
Ferdinand
Gerrard
Murphy
Modric
Bullard
Torres
Zaki

Team value = £48.9m

- Even if he was fit, Hutton is still a Spurs defender (and that comes from a Spurs fan). £2.9m for a Pompey defender is too good to turn down, especially with Man U & Chelsea games already out of the way. Might not play every week, but a good chance of part-match CS

Gonna resist the temptation to do anything else with the international break coming up, hope this team can see me through the next few weeks

Getting married at the weekend (I know - in the football season!)

All the best for the big day :D

Yep getting married in the season isn't the best timing. Got married two Septembers ago. The honeymoon's the worst - no footy for nearly three weeks - killer

Pleased to be off the bottom of the table, my two changes have been stunningly unsuccessful, Boa Morte & McCartney scoring 2 points between them (2 sub appearances from Boa Morte) :-)

I'm intending to make a raft of transfers to totally change the line up, probably this weekend as the 4 Man U players aren't involved in the EPL. There could well be a heavy Chelsea presence appearing :-)

We don't have an answer yet from thelip on the andycoull situation.

Given that things are quite close, my suggestion would be for andy to use his first transfer or transfers to make his team eligible for the start of the competition, post it here, and then be allowed to use his remaining transfers after this week. This will put him at least one transfer behind everyone, which seems to me to be a reasonable equaliser. Anyone else have any thoughts?

Here we go...Transfer Time   (hated hansen's team)

van der Sar

Ferdinand  Bosingwa (looks pretty damn good)
Evra  Clichy (costs less should get more assists)
Vidic  Carvalho (Chelsea looking good at the back)
Hutton  Kompany (anyone is better than a Spurs defender)

Lampard
Cahill  Deco (this year's must have????)
Modric  Fabregas (Tried and tested)
Bullard  Lawrence (much of a muchness here)

Adebayor  Agbonlahor (Adebayor just doesn't seem right this year)
Camara  Ashton (obvious choice at that price range)

Transfers left 21
Team Value 49.9m

Does feel good to get rid of Hansen's team!

Van der Sar

Evra
Vidic  Bosingwa
Shorey
Hutton  Johnson

Gerrard  Lampard
Cahill  Young
Modric
Bullard

Bent
Torres

Reasons:
Vidic out for Bosingwa - breaks up the Man U block, particularly given no game this weekend. Bosingwa looking good for a strong Chelsea.
Hutton out for Johnson - injured Spurs defender, enough said. Portsmouth should come good at the back - not exactly an easy start
Gerrard out for Lampard - injured player for the one player I have to have
Cahill out for Young - injured player for player with good assists/goals potential

Transfers left: 26
Team value: 49.6

Just the 8 transfers for me

Van der Sar

Evra
Vidic
Ferdinand  Bosingwa
McCartney  Laursen

leaving the a partial block Man U defence for now, it'll score well throughout the season
Laursen scores goals and eventually Villa will keep a few clean sheets
Bosingwa nailed on starter, going to get plenty of defensive points and looks good at getting forward for assists, gains cash too

Gerrard  Deco looking good so far and a lot cheaper
Cahill  Milner expecting him to contribute well to Villa's attacking points
Modric  Downing 'boro aren't looking too shabby at the moment, good potential for points
Bullard  Nasri started well, should score well in a top 4 side

Torres  Adebayor a bit of cash gain, don't think there'll be much between them come the end of the season
Camera  Anelka don't think he's going to score that many this season but a "safe" option until Drogba regains fitness

team value 49.5m

Van der Sar

Evra
Vidic
Bale
Hutton  Bosingwa

Gerrard  Deco
Cahill  Fabregas
Modric
Bullard

Bent
Torres

3 changes - 27 left

Why : Hutton injured - felt I need a Chelsea defender in my defence
Gerrard injured - Deco looks good so far and could be a new Ronaldo
Cahill - injury prone - Fabregas normally good at start of season
