Of the ladies, Gamu for me had the best voice, hope she gets control over her emotions though. I can't stand all the crying and 'I'm doing it for my family' sh1t...

The blokes didn't show so well but there was a guy called Mark who sounded pretty cool.

Halliwell doesn't half run on!! :shock:

Yep, I thought it sounded weird, it sounded like she was warbling a bit or that there were two tones in her voice at the same time. Didn't realise that they doctored the acoustics, all a bit of a con really. Apparently they won't do it for the later stages, just the auditions. It's in order to give people at home 'the best possible viewing experience' apparently :?

The bloke who outed it also said she has a good voice and didn't need it 'fixing'

I thought at the time it sounded a bit "Cher - Do I Believe" at times. Strange that they'd do that.

Quite enjoyed it on Saturday, but I wonder if it's starting to lose it's appeal for me. All a bit predictable now. Someone with a sob story (Gamu), a group where they're not very good, but they ask one of the singers to audition on their own and put them through, a pretty rubbish act (Mercy girl) that somehow gets through but will never realistically get past boot camp (although Jedward somehow did last year).

To be honest, probably my favourite part of Saturday's show was Simon Cowell winding up Cheryl Cole.

The whole show is as stage managed as a west end musical.
The girl that attempted 'we are the champions'? if it is your big shot, your one chance at emulating the outstanding career of Shayne Ward, and then Cowell goads you into warbling a Queen song?
Please, spare me the bulls**t "ok, you have 20 seconds to sing the tune you have been practising for the past 10 months" - it went on for about a minute.
The whole thing is about as spontaneous as 'The Mousetrap'

I think the x factor is very predictable. There is always a couple of awful girl groups who make it to the final 12 then go out early. Theres always a very strong female singer who does very well (like leona,stacey,alexandra) then 2 other young maybe quirky singers who go out early. Then theres always a few young boys who manage to get into the final 12. They never do that well. Then there is always a good older male and a good younger male. Sometimes theres a gd band. But there are always the same types of acts in the final. Always. Very Predictable. Yet i will still be watchin it even though they alter voices. It is just the normal thing to do now, its always watched.

Her voice was ok, but she had some very scary facial expressions, no doubt it will be touched upon in the next round.

Don't know about that......watched it last night and like Razorback just went 'wow'.......think her face expressions and the whole package is unique.....and even though not in to this kind of music.....I could listen to this again and again! Outstanding!

However, will be interesting when the 'Abba' week comes up :wink:

This years winner was indeed on last nights show, however it was not the young girl with the fake attitude that everyone is raving about. It was Treyc Cohen, got to the Judges houses last year when she should have been put through ahead of Jamie Archer - very tough section last year (Danyl Johnson & Olly Murs)

I think the reason she was passed over was because she was too similar to Alexandra Burke & Leona Lewis.

Hahahahaha jamie archer was the best one from the overs last year. TreyC should not have been put through. Olly and Jamie were brilliant. Danyl was decent but TreyC wasn't that good. She is better now but no way should she have gone to the last 12 last year.

Have to admit that I hadn't heard 'Turn My Swag On' before last night but I loved, loved, loved the version Cher sang 8-) ...here's the original version (which is pretty average IMO);

And here's the Keri Hilson cover (much better than the original IMO);

And so that we don't too carried away with Cher's performance :wink: , here's a decent cover of the cover;

Still think Cher brought something unique to her version, and considering she's just a 'rough diamond' at the moment it was quite a performance she conjured up for the X-Factor judges.

Regarding her expressions, I think they just added to the uniqueness of her performance and she simply needs to learn when to tone down or indeed turn up those expressions dependent on the track she's performing at any given time in the future.

Although I think it's waaaaaaaaaaaaaay too early to start declaring anyone as the eventual winner, I will be very disappointed indeed (& surprised) if Cher doesn't make it to the latter stages of this year's competition...

From what I saw last night the ones getting through seem to be made up of about 90% of previous entrants and people from overseas.

The thing is they will want someone different to win so they can take advantage of a different market. No point getting another burke and lewis as that won't make as much profit. The girl cher is more funky, i can see her winning it, but the name will have to change if they want to brand her. I reckon secretly they will want a band to win it this year.
