Anyone else watching this.

Rob Brydon & Steve Coogan - can't work out whether they're acting or it's for real :?

First part of 6, could be interesting although not as funny as I expected

Partly scripted, partly improvised. They are basically 'playing' exaggerated versions of themselves.

Sky+'d it so not seen it yet (seen clips and interviews about it)

We've just watched the second episode, surprisingly entertaining.

Looking forward to the next one, but I can't series link it, so I'll have to try and remember.

The Ego Trip would be a better name for it. Episode One: Money For Old Rope was embarrassingly bad at points - the impressions, Coogan's constant references to his real life "problems" (like we give a shit) such as his inability to break America, his fondness for young women, etc. I'm assuming we were supposed to be thinking "Wow! He's so down to earth and can laugh at himself". I thought "What a self obsessed knob". It's this type of shit on the BBC that makes me think that they should be privatised.

Done much better by Jack Dee in Lead Balloon and Ricky Gervais in Extras.

To think that this man created the genius that was Alan Partridge.

That said, I'll be watching the second episode to see if it improves and then I'll take a view on it. :D

To be honest, I've never been keen on Coogan (apart from Paul Carr) I watch it mainly because of Brydon.

Watched the second and third episodes last night - missed the first. Found it very entertaining, although it may get a little repetitive come episode 6. I would say that 90% is off the cuff, with the rest scripted. One word of warning - don't watch it when you are hungry!

btw did episode 2 cut-off the end for anyone else on Sky+? Did the same for How Not To Live Your Life on episode 1, but that was because they showed back-to-back episodes and the end of the first one was on the beginning of the next.

I'm liking it too - thing is I'm not really sure why....?

Coogan is very good at the moody stuff, Brydon is like a nice bloke getting taken for granted which I guess is what they were after.
Sometimes it's hard to know if it's scripted or not, and for that alone I think it's been a good watch.

I read in the Times on Saturday that they are much better friends than appears on screen - I'm glad about that!

Love Brydon's man in a box voice and the fact Coogan can't do it!
The food and scenery has been good to look at too! :D

The thing i took from it the most, is that i really should visit these places myself. Beautiful scenery and clearly theres plenty of young, attractive waitresses with foreign accents knocking about!

I liked it - every episode ended on a downer, a good reflection of the bloke on his own in a luxury hotel.

The impressions were brilliant - Michael Caine and Woody Allen particular faves.
