The Tiny League : The M*ltiplier 1.1

Welcome to another side comp of a side comp!

Points and goals combine to give a high scoring side game that should keep things interesting to the last minute.

Scoring
Will be the product of your team’s score and the number of goals scored by your team.
For example:
Team scores 33pts and scores 2 goals: 2 x 33 = 66
Team scores 43pts and scores 4 goals: 4 x 43 = 172
Team scores 23pts and scores 0 goals: 0 x 23 = 0!

Format
Have split us in two leagues of 13.
Would have said the top four in each league make the quarter finals BUT! Workie-ticket & Chuck Taylor have hit on idea. So this is what I have come up with as a twist...

The two leagues will compete with each other in a head-to head style competition each week. 1st in each league will play each other, 2nd will play 2nd etc. The winning league will have won the most matches, should there be a tie then the total points scored by the entire league will be the decider. For each victory a league will score a win. The league that has most wins will have the top five qualify and the league that loses the top three only will qualify (so it's a side comp of a side comp of a side comp :lol:

)
The eight successful teams will be randomly drawn for the quarter finals and beyond.

Schedule
This game starts in Week 5 (w/c 5th September). The league phase will run to Week 15 (w/c 15th November).
The QFs week 16, the SFs week 17 and the Final week 18 (w/c 6th December).

Week 5 : First Round

Zipnolan was the only Colin to score 2 goals this week and takes the lead with 58. Ten teams get off the mark this week.
More goals for the Garys this week with three teams scoring two. Top of the pile is countbasie with the top score of the week with 80pts, with Chuck Taylor not far behind with 76. Eleven teams are off the mark in this league.
Another reason to regret not picking / dropping Odemwingie!

Week 5 Head2Head

First blood to the Garys! Although scoring higher overall 'twas a narrow victory. Some close ties this week Vid edged JAGduracell 28-27. JAG will get his chance for revenge has they face each other again next week (there are two other repeat ties this week and if this continues I will revise how the draw is made each week). There were some not so close ties ........................moving on............. :oops:

Highest losing score: 32, lowest winning score: 20.

Did I ever mentioned that last year when this comp was due to run I would have scored in the 1st week:

110 x 9 (4 Saha, 3 Tevez, Dempsey, Odemwingie) = 990 points

But Latic got scared and pulled the game rather than let me win yet another cup - this year I started poorly to allow the game to run - now I will make my move 8-)

I think each week the winning team should be able to name a famous person to dedicate the win to, and, as I suggested it, and was on the winning team - I dedicate this weeks win to Gary Davies

In case you're wondering I put this idea out last season as a trial and Knulpuk would have got his huge score if the comp had started a week earlier.

The draw is made on league rank based on the weekly score, 1st v 1st etc. If this chucks up too many duplicates I'll look at another way to do it.
