Well, if he was "writhing in agony", as I read somewhere, it shouldn't be his ACL. I ripped my up something awful and can tell you it's not a very painfull injury. More likely twisted something. Still pretty bad I'm sure, but maybe not the minimum 6 months required for ACL.

If Dawson ripped his ACL and needs a reconstructive surgery, it'll be at least 6 months before he is back on the pitch. If it's just a partial tear than he could be back in a month. I had my ACL reconstructed 3 months ago and the physiotherapy is a b!tch. While it is not an extremely painful injury, the return to form is very long and laborious as it is one of the major stability, movement and coordination mechnisms.
BTW, he was carried off the pitch on a stretcher and while not "writhing" he was certainly in great pain.

Agree about the physio. The injury itself is relatively painless but the rehab is awful, especially with the miniscus tear (and you're over 40 ). The only saving grace for athletes is they often get a cadaver graft , while mine was the more typical patella graft. It's this graft that often causes the most pain. People have been tearing their ACLs forever and lived full lives without ever having them repaired. From what I understand, this is usually what was meant by a "trick-knee".

Before we bore everyone to death discussing this the Patela graft is old fashioned and creates a huge ugly scar. I wonder whether the shaman who operated on you does magic potions too
The Chinese convicts organ 'donors',... gets you a very suspicious piece of anatomy In my case, they got a slice from my own hamstring, leaving a tiny scar and quite rapid return to form - although that is yet to happen.
For those who do not repair their ACL ... life is not exactly normal after. There are many things you can't do anymore, especially when any weight needs to be supported by that knee.
Let us hope Dawson returns to form and the pitch asap

Walcott bandwagon has quite possibly lost its wheels. Rooney is a player I'd love to have, but I'd have to drop Drogs, and quite honestly that's not happening.

I have a funny feeling that Torres is about to find form too soon. I'm honestly thinking of trading in Drogs for the extra cash, although it would be a risky old move.

Ponied up the extra 4 bucks a month today to get Fox Soccer Plus, meaning, I think, that I will get all 10 games televised this weekend. Can't see myself watching that many, but I now have more options and will be able to see the Everton/Man Utd game tomorrow without using the (illegal?) streams.

Tomorrow is heaven for football. Man Utd vs Everton, probably just Soccer Saturday for the 3pm games then I get my La Liga fix with 3 straight games on live.

Please share as you hear (or hear of) Rooney chants in the Everton match. It will be difficult over the TV and the accents will make it tough for me anyway. You've had a week to prepare, I'm expecting something creative! - Cheers.
