Oh well Lampard and Drogba ended up getting the same amount of points.

Is there generally a transfers thread (to keep track of who's coming into the league)?

It might be best just to pop into the football section of the 'Sports talk' forums every now and then to see whats happening, even if some of it may just be gossip/paper talk. Failing that there's always the transfers page on the bbc, though it includes all the football league rather than just the prem...

Not long to wait now - FPL should launch next week, and the season kicks off in only 6 week's time !
I thought I'd take this opportunity to ask you as an Evertonian, whether your new signing, Jan Mucha, the impressive Slovakian GK, will oust Howard as first choice or not ? he seems too good to spend the season on the bench ? well, both do.

Well I must admit, i initially thought you may have been taking the michael when you used the word 'impressive'. He seems to have been a bit hit and miss during the world cup. Quality saves one minute, but moments of sheer madness the next! (the needless surge to the edge of his box against the dutch springs to mind!). Probably a but unfair to judge him on 4 games, 'protected' by the Slovakian defence mind...

Back in January, when news of his summer arrival 1st broke, my Polish, Legia Warsaw supporting work colleague assured me of his brilliance. He was also a bit surprised at my suggestion he would initially be coming as only back-up to Tim Howard, and not as No.1. My personal opinion is that Moyes sees him as someone who can finally put pressure on Howard and actually maybe ask questions of him. Howard has his faults, but generally is pretty solid and reliable. You'd have to be a quality keeper to keep Howard out of the side! Bringing in Mucha on a free is pretty sound business though. Without spending a penny its a step up from the signing of Carlo (Wigan's No.3 :? ) Nash a couple of summers ago, and Stefan Wessels before that.

So, in answer to your question, i see him as the Number 2 to Howard initially, but for the 1st time, Moyes will probably feel hes got someone to throw in should Howard under perform.

Thanks dribbler, that's very helpful. I wasn't taking the micky. The Daily Mail described him as the "Slovaks' stand out player".
I didn't see their game against Holland, but he was described in the match report as having made a string of brilliant saves "including one with his face" ! He got an 8,their only man to do so,edged out of the MOM only by Robben's brilliance.

I was considering him as a possible no 2 GK in my FPL squad, but only if he was Everton's no 1 - thought he might become a bandwagon. ah well,Foster keeps that no 2 spot then for now.

The situation as you've described it seems similar to that at Stoke, where Begovic could dislodge Sorensen.

He did make some quality saves against the dutch, but he made a massive mistake for the Dutch 2nd goal if you get a chance to see it. That said, i'm sure Howard could maybe have done better for some of the goals the US conceded!

You can still pick Mucha as your No.2 for next season....just make sure Howards your No.1, and then you shall never be without a keeper. Problem solved!

The mistake to which you refer was doubtless due entirely to the unpredictable movement of that jabulani ball !

I don't think I'd want 2 Everton GK's in my squad, with all due respect to them both ! Are the Arrows due to play the Totem Poles soon by any chance ?

Keane getting plenty of chances for Spurs against The Eathquakes and has had a goal ruled out for off-side.

Can anyone remember what the url is for a teams latest points page? I realise you can't view it until after the deadline on the 14th but I just wondered if anyone knew what it was so I can try and add it to my price monitoring software 8-)

This for example is the history page for a given team

... and I think the honour should go the Flyman who should be back by then - he is our current landlord after all :P

What won't be starting the new season is the Cyki game, which has been axed, along with TFFO. Credit squeeze.

Thanks, Romyn (and to Snout for the pm!). I'll get on to it this afternoon. Just cleaning the optics as I speak! :)

I'll unsticky this one. If I'm around when I see it, I'll sticky the new one.

Otherwise, can a passing mod do the honours?
