After years of not speaking to one another and messages about not reforming appearing in works of art, it's finally happened.

Steps have re-united 8-)

With the charts in disarray, it's great to have "H" (or is that "Aitch") and co back :D

..........

What ?

You expecting me to type something else ? Pollocks

On rumours of them reforming :

"I have no desire whatsoever to desecrate the grave of seminal pop group Steps"

H Offofsteps (2009)

Bad move IMO. They'll never hit the arm waving success of 'Better Best Forgotten'. This is just going to shatter the myth and they'll end up a sad parody of their former greatness.

A Sad day for music.

I think if I went to one of their gigs I wouldn't be able to enjoy it. In theory you should be looking forward to the amazing resurrection, the second coming but I wouldn't be able to look at the stage without wondering if it could live up to the weight of Claire.

Not sure scarlet is her colour nowadays. Good to see the thick one still looks thick, and Faye is still looking good.

I just found out last week that Faye lives about half a mile away from me, I thought you were supposed to be notified when a member of steps moves into your region.

Read the OP (and the following posts) carefully, Mr Ton, and spot the irony ...

Actually the Stone Roses reforming is even more depressing that Steps reforming - at least Steps never pretended to be anything more than a commercial group. But now the Stone Roses, one of the best bands of their era, are getting back together for purely commercial reasons.

Yeah I'll be honest, I didn't read the thread properly!!

As for The Stones, I couldn't care less what the reasons are, I'll still be going to see them...

well, I think that whatever happens, and even if they do end up being a parody of their former selves, it doesn't really matter. They've still left us with one of the great albums of our time.

5,6,7,8...

On splitting, quoting the BeeGees: "The feelings gone and I can't go on. Its a tragedy"

On reforming, quoting Abba: "Money, money, money"

I watched the press conference and the mood seemed very positive amongst the quartet but you're right Billy, they must have fallen on hard times financially. To me, they all looked quite old, but then I remember them in their pomp, about '89, when I went out a bought a big paid of baggy jeans to go with my paisley 8-) . That's the worry. A bunch of old blokes trying to recapture something that happened 20 odd years ago :? . That's why Weller was spot on not to to reform The Jam, even though Foxton and Buckler went along with it. At least my "Reni" hats may come back in fashion :D (come to think of it, they never went out in my book) and I've still got a "She Bangs The Drums" T shirt 8-)

I'm still haunted by turning down a ticket to see them (Roses not Steps) live in Manchester around the time Sally Cinammon was out. I didn't go as I only knew that one song and had loads of other gigs to go to

That's a classic song Murf 8-) I never saw them either, one of the bands I missed during the 90's. Of course I would like to see them but wouldn't be willing to fork out 50 quid or so. Brown's vocals are not the best live either :?

I saw them in Leeds in about 94,95 and they were awful, yet somehow mesmerising, they'd added a keyboard player ffs and Squires was either pissed or couldn't be bothered and Brown was just a gurning monkey faced skinny tuneless rat boy without a rhythmic bone in his drug addled corpse

Saw the Stone Roses during their 'second coming' tour and, objectively speaking, it probably wasn't great and I certainlyh wouldn't have bought the DVD but it was a great night anyway!

Also have seen Ian Brown a couple of times as a solo artist and both have been excellent gigs. Here is a I wanna be adored from T in the Park a few years ago. A sense of what the Roses gigs could be like atmosphere wise:

You and me both Ton.

I have had the pleasure (and misfortune) of seeing Ian Brown live. In truth… weren't the best gigs ive ever seen (for quality) - to the point i have passed up the chance to see him again. Although friends reliably informed me that the quality was a lot better at subsequent gigs (but its all subjective i suppose).

Either way, I am going and thoroughly looking forward to seeing them!

Also the regret not seeing the Roses' seminal gig at the Empress Ballroom (in my home town)… although I was only 13/14 at the time and not gig savvy.
