It does make me laugh that if someone gives an honest answer they get put down for not saying the right thing. If Rory does not want to adapt he game for The Open then so be it.

Not disputing his right to say or think that. But he's a professional sportsman who you would think would want The Open under his belt, and with his skill, you would think he would relish the challenge.

I thought that it was always acceptible to give abuse to someone giving their opinions ;0)

I dont feel there is strictly anything wrong with what he said and maybe construed a little deeper than was meant but it was a little naive and unnecessary. He has already slammed the Ryder Cup and then eaten "humble pie" on that.

I took it as a slur against the inequality of the weather conditions from the early starters to those who went out late as opposed to general bad conditions ie those that where in the last 5-6 groups day 3 were at a massive advantage.

Under the intense spotlight as he is, Rory is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't.

A lot was made last week of the fact that he didn't play in a comp between the US Open and the Open. Had he have played a tourney and then missed the cut at the Open you can bet some journalist would've come up with 'he was too tired, he shouldn't have played last week etc.'

I can only imagine how frustrating it must be for a top young sportsman having numerous 'so called experts' preaching at them all these different strategies.

Rory is only young, I'm amazed he doesn't just tell them all to eff off! I'd be tempted

I'm pretty sure that if Rory has not won The Open when he nears 30 he will focus more on it, having finally got round to watching a documentry on him last night he comes across as wanting a stack of majors but not bothered which ones.
