Apologies for creating a new topic, just to answer Jonathan's question on a topic that had now been closed...

I have been meaning to post this since Saturday. Did my eyes deceive me, or did the BBC show Harrington and his caddy turning up for play, and also on the practice ground on Saturday? He missed the cut, right?

Yes, it was indeed Harrington - I guess he thought that he may as well use the practice facilities there as his schedule would have been based on the fact that he would have been at St Andrews for all four days.

I saw Jimenez do the same at Loch Lomond a week before.

Thanks Mr Green. I wasn't going mad then! I thought that maybe they had mistakenly broadcast footage from the day before. I find it a little bit sad, personally. You missed the cut. You weren't good enough. Get over it and get outta there!

Not sure why the other thread was locked. The silliness had stopped, but what do I know?

Sometimes if an odd number make the cut and it means a player going round on his own, then that player can pick a partner to go round with. Maybe Harrington had been asked but it just never happened
I think

Penrice Jr declined the offer of a marker on Saturday morning I believe and played on his own. I don't know if a player who has missed the cut gets the offer or not. Interesting. It would certainly have to be a player of decent quality in order not to drag down the player still competing.

Yes, markers are usually up and coming golfers from the local area, and I've never known a Pro who's missed the cut to subsequently become a marker...but that's certainly not to say that it hasn't happened sometime.

Didn't Paddy stay on as he was getting an honours degree from St. Andrews University?

If I had paid for a weeks room and board I would be staying as well! :)

On the plus side the crowd would be there to help you find your balls, but on the downside you would probably injure a few

Not sure I'd hit it the ball far enough to bother any crowd

He got that before the tournament started.
