dk - I can only aspire to your numbers at the moment, although on my return last night I did manage 4 sets of 20 pressups which is telling on my forearms this morning :)

I'm going to try (I emphasis the word try) to get into more of a routine - pressups - crunches - rest although invariably the weekends cause the routine to end  I'm going to set my intent this week and attempt to stick to it:-

Week 6

Monday 22nd March

Intention: pressups
What I did: 4 x 20 pressups

Tuesday 23rd March

Intention: crunches
What I did: 3 x 20 crunches

Wednesday 24th March

Intention: rest
What I did: drank whisky and wine :D

Thursday 25th March

Intention: pressups
What I did:

Ledge - 4x20 press ups is not to be sniffed at. Keep up the good work.

Week 4 of the plan is officially a killer.

Managed 29, 33, 25 (aim 29), 15+5 (aim 29), 10+6 (aim 40+). With 2 min rest periods (and a few inter set mini breaks!)

Think cracking into it after nearly a week off was a bit foolhardy.

Anyway per the plan its time for another exhaustion test to see where i'm at. Going to have a go on saturday as off skiing for a week on sunday. 8-) Hoping to improve on my intital test of 32, thinking 40+ ok, 45-50 happy, 50+ chuffed.

PS. Keeping up the squats. Did 30, 38, 27, 27, 43 with 60 sec rests to pass column 3 week 3 of the 200 squat plan with flying colours!

Ledge - how did week 7 go?

I did my press up exhaustion test prior to skiing - dissappointed with only 42 before collapsing! Think i was just having a tired/off day as then went for a quick 5km run which i had to stop in twice due to stitches!!

During skiing i only managed to do press ups one evening - did 20, 25, 20 - not bad at altiutde after a full days skiing and some apres ski beers! :D

Anyway despite my last test meaning i should be attempting week 5 column 3, i've decided to redo week 4. Mainly cos i pretty much missed out last week, so my test is a week out of date, secondly cos i didn't get anywhere near meeting the daily targets in my last attempt at week 4 and finally cos week 5 looks rock hard!!

Given my failure at column 3 of week 4 a couple of weeks ago decided to give column 2 of week 4 a crack.

Managed 18, 22, 16, 16, 19+7 (aim 25+) with 60 sec breks bar the last set where i had a mini stop! Not a bad start.

Also moved onto week 4 column 3 of the 200 squat plan. Managed 29, 34, 29, 29, 45 with 60 sec rest periods no bother, to pass day 1 of week 4. The thighs feel like steel after a hard weeks skiing!

Had a crack at wk 4 of the plan, column 2, day 2 this morning.

Managed: 20, 25, 20, 16+4 (aim 20), 14+9+5 (aim 28+), with 90 sec rest and some mini breaks.

Bit annoyed to falter ont eh 4th set - getting used to it on the 5th! - but then i hit the gym pretty hard on weds night so was still feeling the effects a bit.

The squats are a breeze though so far (famous last words). Managed 34, 40, 34, 34, 55 (aim 49+) with 60 sec rests.

Any news ledge?!

Not really

I've fallen off the exercise wagon in the last fortnight, or at least anything that resembles routine exercise. I have been doing a couple of sets of 30 pressups on a whim and doing up to four sets of 25 crunches. I have to admit that both times I've done this now I've enjoyed first few weeks, but the routine becomes a bit of a pain and the enjoyment goes. I did consider forcing the issue with myself, but I'd rather not push myself as that wasn't the intention when I began.

Expect me to start over in 2012

dk - good luck with your routine and keep it up :D

Shame to hear that Ledge - hope the motivation bites you again - but any exercise is better than none.

I've had a small break - sore back after football last sat meant no exercise for 4 days. Plus been a bit under the weather. Annoying really as want to crack on with the plan.

Anyway had a crack at week 4, column 2, day 3 this morning.

Managed 23, 28, 23, 17+6 (aim 23), 15+7+6+5 (aim 33+) with 120sec breaks (and some mini breaks!). Not bad but stamina clearly missing after break/illness. Per the plan time for another test - don't hold much hope of beating my last 42. Hopefully fit it in over the w/e but away for a weekend so could be tricky...

Felt a bit feint at the end so missed out the squats this morning.

Oi - I've still got a couple of weeks free of pain

I am planning to start again but a gentle nudge wouldn't go amiss after the PDC Darts finishes. It'll be back to 3 press up routines and aches!

FS Record: TFFOSM MotW in 2008 and MotM in 2003. 78th overall in TFFO for 2002/3 and 2003/4
I might start press ups and sit ups in the new year. I printed the 100 sits ups and pressups stuff a couple of years ago so I've sort of started.

Even at your advanced age you shouldn't really be getting aches after 3 press ups.
