I've seen most of the six episodes so far (including next week's that is online here) and I have to say I've really enjoyed it. Sort of like Father Ted but set in an IT Department. Slapstick comedy for the modern office.

One of the running gags is the standard response to anyone who calls up the IT Helpdesk:

"Hello, IT Helpdesk. Have you tried rebooting?"
"oh you have? have you tried plugging it in?"
"oh you haven't? there's your problem. glad to be of service."

Next week's is the best so far:

"Hello IT Helpdesk, have you tried plugging it in?"
"you have? Have you tried sticking it up your arse?"
Slams phone down. Pauses.
"Hmm, that probably wasn't the right thing to say, was it?"

Aunt Irma coming to visit (next week's episode) is the best one yet. And Richmond returns.

My Name is Earl is a tad too American whimsical (Malcom in the Middle, etc.) for my liking.

I think it's ok although most of the best ideas appear to be pinched from old Dilbert strips (e.g. the Helpdesk stuff mentioned above)

Vannie, I think you have nailed it on the head. I officially change my description of the programme to "Father Ted meets Dilbert". That should be a good enough recommendation for anyone. 8-)

It has more laugh-out-loud moments than any other comedy show on telly at the moment.

So now that everyone has had a chance to watch the final episode on Channel 4, do you agree with me that it is the funniest half hour of telly we are likely to see this year?

that's not suprising, if you only watched 10mins then you wouldn't have got it - would you watch a football game for 10mins then turn off as no bigger has scored a goal within that time?

Having an avatar from the magnificent Reggie Perrin, Mike is clearly a man of the most impeccable comic taste.

I haven't got where I am today by recognising a crap sitcom within 10 minutes of viewing.

You would have watched the whole first series of Men Behaving Badly and thought it rubbish, yet it turned into unmissable TV for many.

I watched the last episode of IT crowd last night and I've thoroughly enjoyed the series.

I've just been crying with laughter at the last ten minutes of the first episode of the new season.

If you missed it, tough! I think. Cos I can't see any repeats scheduled.
