Watched it the other night with Mrs Sted.

Both of us agree with you.

Nothing special IMO....some friends of ours loved it.

I think it's quite a good film actually. A real examination of how some men become addicted to risk, as well as an opportunity to stand in the shoes of the soldiers who have the terrifying jobs of dismantling IEDs. Not a great film, but neither were any of the others.

Its a good war movie, but the best movie? not in my opinion.
I read and heard a lot critics panning it's main rival for awards, Avatar.
One, who I usually trust to have sound judgement is Mark Kermode, movie reviewer for Radio 5L.
He actually said he liked Avatar but would not watch it twice (I actually it watched three times).
Well what is there to watch twice in The Hurt Locker?
Forget all the 3D hype about Avatar, it's just as immersive in 2D.

They say Bigalow hoovered up the anti Cameron vote (hes not liked in Hollywood) and the female vote and so Avatar had less than 30% of the vote after two rounds. The IMDB reviews for the Hurt ocker, especially from ex and serving military, are scathing! To me it was a bombastic and rather predictable piece of bravado film making and nothing special.

Any particular reason why you've started two threads about this?? :?

He also raves on against it in the Best picture Oscar Nomination thread. Hint to RR. We now are absolutely sure that you did not like The Hurt Locker. You don't have to keep telling us.

No. Hurt Locker seemed more like a documentary that would have been fairly interesting on BBC3, but I'm glad I didn't pay any money to see it.
