THE FISO LEAGUE FPL KNOCKOUT CUP 2007
Brought to you by Jonathan and RomynPG :)

PLEASE NOTE THE TIE-BREAK AMENDMENT TO RULE NUMBER 1

Image

CURRENT HOLDERS: Westie
RUNNERS UP: lucan jerry

Remaining Gameweek rounds are as follows:
Final Gameweeks 16 & 17

PLEASE NOTE THE TIE-BREAK AMENDMENT TO RULE NUMBER 1

Competition Rules
The team with the most points scored over the two legs progresses to the next round. Points lost through multiple transfers WILL NOT be taken into account. So, carry out as many transfers as you wish, however….

… if scores are level after the round then the following criteria will be used to determine the winner of the tie:

1. Transfers. A team with the LEAST number of total transfers made across both GWs of the tie, will progress to the next round. PLEASE NOTE: A Gameweek where the Wildcard is played will count as a single transfer.
2. Goals. If transfers can’t separate the two, then the team that scores the most number of GOALS across both GWs of the tie, will proceed to the next round.
3. Bench. If by some horrible quirk of fate the teams are still level then the team whose BENCH scores the most number of points across both GWs, will progress to the next round.
4. Toss. If scores are still level at this point, the lovely Mrs Riddle will toss me, errr, a coin, with the team name that comes first alphabetically being Heads.

I hope this is all clear. For a full and comprehensive list that matches FISO Names with their teams in The Elite take a look HERE! Thanks Spencer4!

Jonathan

Well, at last, we have reached the final of the THE FISO LEAGUE FPL KNOCKOUT CUP 2007

I reckon it has been a vintage tournament in the 2 year history of this glorious knockout cup :) helped immensely by some well known FISOers getting to the latter stages of the competition - not least the two finalists...

(barry) IblameFlyman v A Bag of Chewynuts (hammered)

The road to FISO glory....

Hammered has amassed 880pts
barry has amassed 768pts

So, hammered has scored 112 more points than barry to get to this two legged final but that means nothing in the rocky world of Fantasy Football!

As I write this, FISO League leader, and 57th overall hammered has already made one transfer, but barry, T57th in the FISO league, Top 21,000 overall is yet to show his cards.

As you can see from the information below, the two squads don't share too many players, with just Ronaldon't, Fabregas, De Ridder and Adebayor shared between barry and hammered, and it will be interesting to see how both these top tacticians handle the Febregas situation. Hold and see, or go for cup glory?

All the best to both of you. I genuinely hope your squads don't get messed up by players getting rested or other sillyness - and may the best squad win. More than any other week, may your captains be with you! Image

Thanks for thanks. Image

Romyn's admin assistance made it very easy this year (Mac issues aside), and I have really enjoyed running it. Good sustained banter, although it seems that hammered has not posted for ages and ages - or am I imagining that? FISO League leader not posting....? He is probably not even aware of his achievements? I have his last post as Dec 2006 - that can't be right, can it?

All good things must come to an end, and boy, am I glad I won't be doing another side comp this season... eh, Rob?

Hi, I'm not a regular poster, although I do pop in from time to time to check on how my team is getting on in the well run competitions such as Reds' excellent Divisional championship game and this one which I have especially enjoyed this time round (Cheers Jonathan your hard work hasn't gone unnoticed). It's reassuring that i'm not alone in my addiction to prem.com!

MY username changed slightly (note the three dots after Hammered) as I forgot my password and registered ages ago with an old email address. Is there a "doh!" emoticon?? I have posted once or twice since dec 06.

Anyway, good luck for the final Barry, may the best team win and all that!

Hey, Jonathan!
Any chance of an invite into the Directors' Box? :D

Well done, mate. Despite my getting knocked out early doors this remains one of my favourite - and, imo, most prestigious - FISO FPL competitions.

Thanks to you and to Romynpg for your sterling endeavours!

By the way - don't anyone think from Barry's team's name that I've had anything to do with his success. I'm simply 'to blame' for getting him interested last season .....

The rest, as they say, is history! :P

What to do, eh Barry? It is still doable, of course, but you are facing a man in top, top form. Losing (currently) to the 5th placed overall team is nothing to be ashamed of!

(barry) IblameFlyman 53 v 86 A Bag of Chewynuts (hammered)

hammered, it seems, can do no wrong at the moment. His single transfer for GW16 saw him remove the suspended Bentley for the in form Cahill, and was rewarded with an assist and clean sheet. barry, meanwhile, is hanging on in there, bringing in Tevez for Benjani (good), and O'Brien for Lescott (bad). Both captained Ronaldo but A Bag of Chewynuts just had too much strength in depth for IblameFlyman in this first leg.

Good luck next week, both.

I'm seriously considering going transfer daft to maximise the team for this weekend and screw any season long "ambitions"

I wonder if he's thinking the same?

 Probably not barry, although he has everyone we would all want anyway! It is going to be such a tricky week next week. Who would have thought that the big four all play each other in the final week of my little cup comp! If you fill your squad with those not from those 4, your could have a chance. However, I wouldn't want you to wreck your season for my little comp, barry!

I won't be about from Thursday night until Sunday evening next week - a weekend away in sunny Leeds is planned. Bummer for the final! Same thing happened last season I think.

I'll post the ideas on here if you want, it's not like he's going to be worrying about what I'm up to and trying to counter act my moves now is it

you're welcome mate, just glad folk like you arrange these things for us all to play 8-)

Have to admit, everything I touch seems to turn to gold at the moment (got to be a pun in there somewhere ) my blind faith in Geremi even seems to be paying off!

As mentioned earlier though, it's a tough game week this time round and all my players are against each other. 33 points isn't insurmountable and anything can happen in the cup. Remember Man City's 10 man fight back against Spurs a few seasons ago. I feel captain choice will be vital on this tricky game week.

Good luck Barry, hats off to you if you come out on top in this one.

All the best hammered... and barry for the coming final weekend. Grand Slam Weekend? I am surprised Sky haven't picked up this particular clash of the titans! A much bigger event!

Anyway, by Sunday it will all be done and dusted and we will have our new Cup Winners. However, I won't be around this weekend to see how things are progressing, but I will try and pop in on Sunday evening.

In the meantime, if anyone sees me out and about in Leeds this weekend, please say hello!

For one last time - may your captains be with! Image

33 points behind, may a good few transfers but brought in the wrong players

curently 27 to 18 so I've trimmed the gap to 24.

all I need now is gerrard & Lampard (& half ronaldo) to score 25 points more than beletti, brown, fabregas, ronaldo (c) adebayour & tevez

toffee 8-)

 only joking, best man by a mile won by a mile, cheers for the game hammered and thanks again to J for arranging it all, apologies to flyman for failing to get his name onto a cup.... his best chance too

Well, back safely from Leeds and chuffed that I am now able to announce the winner of THE FISO LEAGUE FPL KNOCKOUT CUP 2007... it's....

hammered... A Bag of Chewynuts

The second leg was closer than the first but, alas, barry couldn't overturn the 33pt lead that hammered... had gained in gameweek 16, and so hammered... and his A Bag of Chewynuts takes the cup with a 45pt margin over barry's IblameFlyman, with the two-legged final ending up at 86pts v 131pts

1st leg
(barry) IblameFlyman 54 v 86 A Bag of Chewynuts (hammered)

2nd leg
(barry) IblameFlyman 32 v 45 A Bag of Chewynuts (hammered)

Thanks to everybody who took an active interest in the cup, and it is actually great to be able to say that the eventual winner is also somebody who is doing so well overall at the moment... 4th!

Thanks to barry for keeping the banter up there right the way through - a worthy finalist - sorry that there had to be a loser, but there is no shame losing to somebody so hot at the moment. I see now that you made a total of 6 transfers in trying to turn things around - that is very much appreciated, because you are also doing pretty well overall - I hope you haven't done too much long term damage to your squad, but it does show how seriously you took the cup competition. Cheers, mate! :)

So, now I can relax (and so can Romyn ), and enjoy the build-up to Christmas. I really hope I can sort my own pesky squad out, who, for the third year running, are falling apart at this time of year.

Thanks again everbody... see you next year!

Jonathan

Congrats hammered.

You really are flying in FPL and a win here is a nice notch on your bow this year. I'm sure you are aiming at the big one at this stage though. Best of Luck.
