Hi folks and welcome to The Elite of the Elite. I thought I would knock up a quick summary of the top ten in the league. Sorry it has taking so long but I am lucky to be playing with everything going on in my life at the moment. Its true I have a life be it a little to busy for Fantasy purposes. Maybe Yer Ole Da will give a slant on proceedings at some point. Anyway here we go:

Gameweek 5

Top 10 Elite of the elite

1.Mr Bigstuff – Simon Ingram – Leads the way on 279 points, 6 points ahead of second place. A very impressive 166th overall. A very strong team with depth. Has not relied on captain choices to propel him to the top. This kind of form will be hard to beat. Captain choices include Richards, Keane and Anelka twice.

2.Sligos Donkeys – Gerry Ward – Not far behind in second place. A decent week could see this boy rise to the top. Top 500 player after week 5 shows an impressive start. A good transfer strategy in place only using only his free one each week. Captain choices have helped him slightly reach his lofty position or should I say Torres. Still, a very strong squad. Captain choices include, Ronaldo…..didn’t we all!, Berb, Van P and Lamps.

3.Strangers in Paradise – Neale Alston – Sitting pretty in 3rd with 255 points. Neale is a top 4000 player at the moment but how much has using the wildcard helped? Still, there is skill in getting the best out that card and Neale has done that. Fabregas done the damage for him in week 5. Consistant good form. On the whole has made good captain choices which include Fabregas twice. When we all hit Ronaldo he nailed Fab.

4. Whores wi nae Bling – Alan Dymock – Big Al has had a decent start by all accounts. 5233 place with 5 transfers used. You might say well he has used an extra transfer. Yes but the boy has taken a four point hit and cant nail a captain even if he was in the whore house. Captain choices include Ronaldo twice, Fab when he had forgot to turn up and Tevez. One good captain was Lamps. A player to be watched as Big Al has good fantasy form across the board.

5. Smelly Crazy Skunks – Vinnyutd6899 – A solid top 10000 start for Vinny though as with myself GW5 let him down badly. By no means far of the pace on 247 ponts. Two decent captaind could easily see him pushing the top boys out the way. The card has been used but some would see that as a headache removed. A mixed bag of captain choices with Ronaldo twice, Lamps Fab and Van P. Steady player not taking many gambles at this stage in the season.

6. Thierryless XI – Zane Oberhof – A good start from Zane with 244 points. A good transfer strategy sticking to one a week. Cunning captain choices using Van P three time and Lamps when it mattered. One to watch in my view!

7. Crazy Canucks – Trevor Ritchie – 242 points. Sitting in behind the pack. Is Trevor going to make a move or will be intent in just picking the leaders off one by one. Made a double transfer in GW5 bringing in the great Dane at City between the sticks. Has he played his best already? GW 4 & 5 has nailed Fabregas netting him 44 points in the bargain.

8. Ndidi’s Kraal – James Nash – 241 points another with form who is sitting nicely in the pack. An extra transfer used in GW3 and a poor use of captain choices. When this boys luck turns watch him rise up the league. I suspect another one to watch.

9. Naked Pirates – Chris Snow – 239 points. Another top ten card user. Chris has possibly been aided in reaching his position. Im sure he would tell you the card could have done better. Anyway he is still a top 20,000 player who had nailed Torrez in GW5. 26 points in the bag, well played!

10. Tootie Footies – Paul Wray – Equal with Chris on 239 points. A good transfer strategy so far. Best captain- Lamps – 18 points- GW4. Looks like a steady player with not the best of luck with captains. My prediction is will be a top 20 player all season.

Very nice work Elvis. :) Shame I rapidly slipped out of the Top 10 after a woeful 31pts in Week 5... but I hope to trouble future summaries at some point in the not too distant future.

Thanks!

I am definitely pleased to be in the top 10 after a very bumpy start to the season. I have inherited my bad luck with injuries that plagued me at the start of last season. Earnshaw has been a bad pick and has been bleeding me dry of finances, currently standing at a net loss of 0.4m. Ben Haim needs replacing first but if Earnshaw looks like dropping again, I may just have to take a second 4-point hit of the season. I'm not averse to the 4-point hits but they have to be justified.

My captain choices have been so-so but Fabregas last week has hopefully set the tone for the future. All my clever little tactics, such as trying to have rotating cheap goalies home and away, have pretty much been blown out of the water by not having any spare transfers to keep them going. I need to get a run of injury/suspension free gameweeks to try and re-instate these practices. In one recent gameweek, I think I had only 2 players playing at home!

I think one is going to have to finish in the top 1000 overall to win this league. Good luck to everyone else, I'm sure you need it.

Good write up elvis,.. nice to see a summary of who has been playing wilds, nailing captains and using extra transfers... the kind of information big Al likes to store.

I'm sure it wont be long before you are back up there

Anyway, good luck to everyone, with the exception of Mr Bigstuff, whose perch i hope to rattle next gameweek!! :D

OK Hairybear,.. since you've spoken up i'm actually going to let you pick my captain this week.

Once i have made my transfer (after the internationals) i will post my team here. Am not needing team news from the Everton v Man U game so i will probably post it Friday at some point.

If you nail it this gameweek then you can pick again next gameweek,, and so on.....

Are you up for the challenge??

Hairybear accepts the challenge. I text him to let him know of it, as he doesn't have internet access at work, and he's replied with the following in direct response to your challenge:

"Post your team wee sac and I'll pick you a captain (shades)".

I'll be in the top ten soon enough, don't worry about that. Hairybear's like a Kenyan pacemaker, he'll be dropping out with a lap or two to go and yours truly will step up to the plate and kick for home. I'll be finishing like Sonia O'Sullivan come May, absolutely no doubt about it. 8-)

It's the quick-step he learns on a Thursday, but I'll pass the message on.

Oh dear, schoolboy error last gameweek. Picked my captain before flying off on holibubs. Planned to visit internet cafe in Kounoupdiana on Friday to check the team news but I decided I was so chilled out and relaxed that I couldn't be bothered.

Result = Drogba (c) injured = 0 points x 2 = big fat zero. :oops:

Trying to put a positive spin on this, my much-needed holiday has recharged my batteries and I am back and raring to take on the lot of you in the rest of the season.

GW9

Hi folks still really busy and it’s hurting. I feel as if I can give more to my fantasy football across the board. Still can’t complain with my Fantasy Premier start to the season. The hard work starts now keeping my team up there as the competition is stiff. So have to be quick as Im at work so I have prepared a one liner for the Top 10 of the Elite at the end of GW9.

Only 30 points separate the Top 10. We all know that’s the difference between a good captain or bad captain. Who is prepared to gamble? We know the Bigstuff is and that’s why he is top – Jolean Lescott…indeed!

1. Mr Bigstuff – Simon Ingram – 518 points. Maintains top spot due to some nice captain choices lately. Lescott and Ronaldo last two weeks. Obviously the one to beat.

2. FC Boscoppa – Simon Brett – 507 points. 90 points this game week. A steady climber since the last update. Eating up the league. Watchout Bigstuff!

3. Smelly Crazy Skunks – Vinnyutd6899 – 506 points – A massive 96 points from this GW propels Vinny to the top table. Had a wobble last two GW’s but Ronaldo, Terry and Elano helped sort him out.

4. Olivers Troops XV – Fraser Wilson – 496 points - A reasonable and steady climb in the last three GW’s places myself not too far away from top. Double transfers which include the likes of Finnan to Carra wont help me go any higher.

5. Thierryless XI – Zane Oberhof – 495 points - Moved up one place since last update though has been higher but fell a place or two in the last couple of weeks. Consistent manager.

6. Mishaps Happening – Joe Cooke – 494 points – A new face in the top ten. Well since the last update anyway. Can he prove his status and stay there?

7. Sligos Donkeys – Gerry Ward – 489 points – Still there, a tough competitor even though he has lost some pace recently.

8. Ardley Athletic – Squealy Neiley – 488 points – Neils first time dining at the top table. Does he intend to become a regular diner?

9. Whores wi nae Bling – Alan Dymock – 488 points – Big Al has slipped slightly from GW5 but his determination has kept him in the hunt. One thing you will get from the big yin is he wont give in!

10. Blue Scorpions FC – Malefice – 488 points – An old face has joined us, should we be worried. I will certainly be looking over my shoulder.

Cheers Elvis. :) I can't quite put together back-to-back good gameweeks to haul me into the places that matter in many of my leagues - this one included. The longer the season goes on, the harder it is going to be to get up where it matters.

Cheers for the write-up. To answer your question I do intend to stay in the top ten, but as we all know the road to ruin is paved with good intentions.
