Mostly that he's legs gave gone.
he's never been blessed with electric pace.

However, it's interesting that despite him being slower than a three legged greyhound (supposedly) he isn't exactly being pillaged week in week out. Presumably playing some of the best strikers in the world (some very quick); you'd have thought this embarrassing loss if speed would be showing him up? He even played gull back a few times last season - again, was he left floundering like an ip turned tortoise?

Maybe Sunderland and Arsenal didn't try any through balls, lets wait for some through balls before judging whether or not he can out run Beckford, Bent, Torres, Nani, Aguero, Bolton up next, when do they ever do through balls?

I miss a good through ball + the striker using his common sense to not stray offside, its too rare these days. Maybe this is why Carra is coping.

Presumably he was up against the likes of Rooney, Nani, Drogba, Torres, van Persie, Tevez, Silva, van der Vaart etc last season?

In fact he was up against Van Persie on Saturday.

No doubt, his best days are behind him - but he isn't yet the liability that is suggested.

Some of England's greatest defenders weren't exactly speed merchants, they didn't have to be as it was all about reading a game. Did you every see Terry Butcher racing back chasing forwards ?

Bobby Moore
Roy McFarland
Sol Campbell
Neil Franklin
Tony Adams
Jack Charlton
Dave Watson
Des Walker
Billy Wright
Phil Thompson
Emlyn Hughes
Ron Flowers
Norman Hunter
Brian Labone
Maurice Norman
Paul Madeley

All fantastic defenders, none of them blessed with the speed of Ahley Cole or Bosingwa, but I know who I'd prefer in my defence. :D

The beeb say on their match report: "Everton rarely threatened, starting the game without a striker and failed to trouble goalkeeper Joe Hart."

Watch out for the 7s for Hart and the City defence. (Thus speaks someone who went with Schwarzer and one City defender) in each of his 13 teams. :(

Good 3-0 win for Arsenal over Bolton today, so have they turned the corner or was it due to Bolton being so poor?

Also RVP hits his 100th goal for Arsenal today! Even though Arsenal have not been playing well (up until today), RVP has still been banging in the goals (6 goals in 8 games). Aslong as he stay injury free I think he will catch up with Rooney & Aguero and be a serious challenger for golden boot.

Well that was the reality check I have been waiting for. I have been spoilt this year after some great scoring weeks and had forgotten what it normally felt like when I play this game.
I have one defence with -14

Yeah Typical really but to be honest If I was Chelsea manager I would play Ivanovic over Bosingwa all day long. Crazy thing is he scored 13 points in the first game of the Season and in the following 13 games has only scored 10
