I'll probably buy him now, a GW early just to save around 0.3 as I've a decent 5 midfielders and 2 strikers anyway.
He'll only have played in 2 proper games in the ACON and 1 meaningless game so I don't think fatigue will be much of an issue seeing that he'd have played in 4 games if he had remained in Newcastle. Also the flight time is only about 6 hours.

109% to drop.

It'll then need a big swing to rise again before the GW is out (has that ever even happened?)

Coincidentally he is 0.1 out away from the transfer i'd like to do, so i could do with him dropping!

He was 135% to drop a few hours ago.

he won't rise at all by the GW deadline unless his flag is removed by monday at the very latest, which probably won't happen as senegal play that day. he's only had 280-odd net transfers in today, and needs roughly 50,000 to rise (he's -25k at the moment, but with his flag removed his target will still be 24,000).

He may even yet fall - as the yellow flag means his drop target is smaller than it was under a red - although this is also unlikely unless pardew explicitly says something like he probably won't play (or be on the bench).

Perhaps you'd already spotted it,but Ba, 7.3, has now been changed from red to yellow flagged.

I wish FPL were as quick to update all players status ,e.g. still showing Phil Jones as only 25% likely to play, which is way out of date.

Update from Pardew:

"Just because Senegal are going home doesn't necessarily mean they'll be playing for us next week (against Blackburn)," said the Newcastle boss, who would ideally like to partner Cisse with compatriot Demba Ba.

"It's not as simple as that and I couldn't really say what their chances are.

"But the plus side is that they are heading back here and they will definitely be involved for the Aston Villa game on Sunday week and that is a big bonus for us."

A further update from the weekend, maybe they'll be absolute confirmation today:

“The situation with Papiss and Demba is that I am hoping, a small hope, they can make the bench.” “The flights are such that you couldn’t ask them to feature from the start.”

I think the best time to get Demba (and Papiss) would be GW26. Although you may miss out on points at home to Villa in GW24, this will probably be their first game back and with Spurs away to follow, getting him in for Wolves at home (GW26) gives you some time to see whether he's continuing where he left off.

good point - i really would like to wait and see, but the only problem with it is for those (like me) on a bit of a budget; unless your existing striker scores at a good rate then you could quickly be priced out of getting ba in (unless there is some sort of protection post-flagging, which i doubt). I have to rely on sturridge scoring well vs swansea and then man u in order for him not to drop :?

I predict a big switch from Sturridge to Ba,with the former dropping from 7.5 and the latter moving quickly from 7.3 to 7.6
However, only when Ba's flag has been removed and his nti/nto reset to zero will his price start to shoot up.
Of course,in the unlikely event that Sturridge scores against Swansea that may persuade some to hang on to him.

Here's a bit of non-transfer news which is likely to disappoint Newcastle fans furthermore following their FA Cup exit - Senegal duo Demba Ba and Papiss Demba Cisse will not be involved in the squad for Wednesday's Premier League trip to Blackburn.

Even if they played it would be asking too much of them to expect decent performances after such a long journey home from such a hot climate to the freezing conditions at Blackburn.
It should delay the removal of their flags and keep buyers at bay, though many will keep buying regardless, and all those transfers will just evaporate when their flags are removed.

The way i understood it was that price protection starts as soon as the flag is removed which means that he wont rise in value for a while.

Such protection hasn't been applied this season.

Thought it was worth resurrecting this thread. Seems a few called it. Can honestly say I didn't expect Papiss to steal ALL the limelight though!

I wish I had called it but honestly got frustrated with Demba 1 racking up the 2's and moved in Demba 2 after his goal and max bonii in GW29. Also have just noticed assuming he gets max bonii this week that's the 3 points for the last 4 GWs

Didn't think he'd come this good, even after scoring on his debut. It did become increasingly obvious by gw29 that he was always going to be playing advanced of Ba. I think I got a bit lucky dumping Ba and Aguero for Cisse and Rooney in gw30, after forgetting to make a transfer the week before, as Cisse was the only thing saving me from a completely shite week. The rest is history 8-)
