It's been five long years since the inaugural FICA (Fiso International Crisp Association) Crisp World Cup and the time has come for the second tournament.

The World Champions, frazzles are again expected to be hard to beat.

Here's how they finished in 2005:

1st Frazzles 26
2nd Brannigans Beef & Mustard 24
3rd Walker's Salt & Vinegar
4th Walkers Sensations Sweet Chilli

Image

The last 16 from 2005 will automatically gain entry (except for the sad demise of Kettle crisps' Salsa & Mesquite flavour).

The 16 are:

Walkers Sensations Thai Sweet Chilli
Monster Munch Flamin' Hot
Wotsits
Pringles Sour Cream 'n Chive
Discos Salt 'n Vinegar
Smiths Salt 'n Shake
Walkers Ready Salted Squares
Brannigans Roast Beef & Mustard
Cheesy Quavers
Pringles Cheese 'n Onion
Frazzles
Walkers Salt 'n Vinegar
McCoys Chedder & Onion
Monster Munch Pickled Onion
Wheat Crunchies Bacon
Roysters T-Bone Steak

Nominations are now sought for representatives from all the Crisp Playing Unions:

Just nominate your other favourites below (I must be able to find a picture somewhere on the web) and we'll crack on...

Gotta second JPK's S&L nik-naks though not sure about the other variants (too chemically for my delicate taste buds - sorry, Latic  ).

Must say I'm a little worried to see Frazzles won it last time (of course, I never participated in the voting last time!). I mean they're nice but nothing to write home about!

How about

SKIPS

Anything woucester(shire) saucery? - french fries and Seabrook crinkle cuts being particularly fine examples.

Anything prawn cocktail too and cheesy bunion flavoured for that matter.

Sweet chilli Lemon (Brand???) can be nice too and wasabi Seabrook's can be a barrel of laughs. But we're dangerous don't-go-there fancy dan territory, now.

Pickled onion monster munch as a wild card (but not roast beef anything!)

Crisps for the boys, choco / cake / ice cream for the ladies, eh? ;)

edit: AND NOTHING CHEESY!!! :D

Scampi nick-naks.
salt 'n' vinegar chipsticks

cannot see past the already nominated pickled onion monster-munch to be fair.

Frazzles was a freak result - bit like Denmark winning the Euro's - that's will not happen again.

Frazzles are damn good though.
Better than the average crisp and more like the Dutch football.
Total crisp

Let's be fair Feyenoord lost 10 nil to PSV - the frazzle, like Dutch football has had it's day.

Frazzles make me cough, as do slush puppies.

They can have their own event afterwards, like the Para-olympics  Nobbies Nuts can join them in the post-event

No!!
Walkers Salt 'n Vinegar beat Monster Munch??
That must have warranted an investigation by the games ruling body.

Can we also bin Monster Munch then? Puffed up chemical balls can also have their own event, for snacks that fail drug tests.

If you go to page 5 of this forum, you can see all the match-ups. The poll is still 'live' I think so the actual results are ambiguous.

Firstly, I thought I would have better things to do on a Monday afternoon than look at the results of a 5 year old Crisp world Cup game but the alternative is to work.
Secondly, I cannot believe that Salt n Vinegar gave Monster Munch such a close run in the Semi final!!

Some more good ones here (though flamin hot doritos - I'm not sure if i've tasted them, they just sound nice).

Onion rings are fantastic and I'm a little embarrassed at missing them but I have to say tommy ketchup walkers, I'm not sure about!

How about tangy toms?

They're only 5p a bag (unless they're victims of inflation like everything else  )

Used to love my Hot chilli whatevers when in Japan (theseand these). Would even eat these first thing in the morning if the bedsheets were relatively fresh on!

Are Internationals allowed in this world cup?

Good to see the overwhelming support for pickled onion monster munch already though one bag was always more than sufficient for me (they made my eyes water like few other crisps)! :D

Ps. Pickled onion space raiders were no slouches either. They still get made, anyone?
