The 10 Commandments:

1. Thou shalt always read the rules thoroughly.
2. Thou shalt not penalise thyself by entering thy team too early.
3. Thou shalt pick a balanced team and maintain flexibility in all positions.
4. Thou shalt board the One True Bandwagon, however late ye be.
5. Thou shalt not worship 'Carlos Kickaball' until he has proven himself in the EPL.
6. Thou shalt remember that Form is Temporary, Class is Permanent.
7. Thou shalt covet thy transfers and shalt not Tinker; Fantasy Football is a Marathon, not a Sprint!
8. Thou shalt not let thy heart rule thy head, nor make any judgements after drinking!
9. Thou shalt have no other forums but FISO.
10. Thou shalt remember that all commandments are there to be broken.

Updated June/July 07 following Henry's departure to Barcelona (and poor performance in 06/07).

Could we ammend the first rule to say something more along the lines of...

1) Thou shalt study both the rules and commandments thoroughly - the latter being open to tweaking and further improvement by each individual participant.

(This is to encourage creativity. I've now scrawled my own version on all my living space's walls.)

My commandment 5a is "Thou shalt not judge a player's potential based on form in pre-season friendlies".

They can be semi-useful in judging a player's potential for being in the starting line-up, for example, though I still wouldn't rely too much on it. But some are using goals in such games against crap opposition to justify picking CK's, and as for those thinking of starting with Solskjaer who hasn't played a meaningful game in two years, because he's scoring for fun against non-leaguers in friendlies... :?

The whole point of the commandments is that they must be short and snappy. So - no. Sorry.

But of course they are not set in stone, and so any genuine improvements would surely be incorporated.

Having helped carry the tablets down from the mountain of the fantasy gods, I can assure you they are quite literally set in stone. ****ing heavy stone at that.

But I thought that I just saw Daglynch and a few other newbies creeping around holding some bloody large pick axes and sledgehammers. So I'd stage a Murfwatch, if I was you after all that hard work.

P.S. Just think how much heavier those stone tablets would have been if the commandments hadn't had the virtue of being "short and snappy"

If some newbies think they can get one over the fantasy gods then they've got another thing coming. They may be smug initially but the gods will ensure they pick up 11 injuries to their FF team just after the transfer deadline.

Of all the fantasy gods the GOS (God Of Smug) is the worst to cross ...

And there was me thinking that longer commandments required more stone chiselling out, thereby making the tablets lighter!

;)

But the fantasy Gods are sharp cookies. They don't use bloody great tablets with lots of empty space. So you can't get more words on an existing tablet. Double the words means double the area and weight. If you hadn't just sat on your lazy backside but had helped Murf carry them into the Fisobar, where they are lying currently in the back room under a pile of empty crates, you wouldn't be spouting such nonsense.

I've seen alot of doubters posting over the last few weeks and I'm afraid if you don't have him you'll lose out! I have 12 teams - he'll be missing from 3 of those.

Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's early season score (too much) OR his wife.

In case anybody has missed the 'phat' lyrical thread the biblical commandments have now been brought into the 21st century by being translated into rhyme. After reading them you may be relieved to know that the gangsta sheep responsible has since hung up his microphone for the last time.:

Heres words for you fools
Who need follow rules

The commandments are ten
I'll spit them out then

Starts, 1 - the rules you must check
Or the whole season you'll wreck

Don't tinker says two
It's the tortoise for you

You want balance and flex
Break three and get hex

Four worship Thierry Henry
Just buy him, you'll see

Never don't buy no CK
With that we're half way

On Commandment 6 do not pass
Check out the form and the class

Seven, not heart, use your head
Buy after a drink and your dead

Use the FISO says eight
Nothing else is this great

Says nine, ain't no sprint
You're in this long stint

Ten says you are free
To go ignore me....
