DEFINITIONS FOR TELEGRAPH FANTASY FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAMEThe following definitions apply in relation to Telegraph Fantasy Football Championship 2009/10 only:
"Application(s)" means the application to enter a team selection in the Competition;
"Assist" is any touch from the attacking team's player directly before a goal is scored. This touch can be deliberate or otherwise. If a touch from a player from the defending team significantly alters the speed or direction of a pass, an assist will not be given. However, if a pass intended for the eventual goal scorer is deflected only slightly and still reaches its intended target, this will be classified as an assist. No assist is given for own goals or penalties awarded.
"Manager" means the individual responsible for the selection and entry of an individual team to the Competition;
"Competition" means the Telegraph Fantasy Football: Championship competition taking place during 2009 and 2010;
"Scheduled kick-off" means the stated published time at which a match is due to start;
"Season" means the period during which the Championship (including play-offs) and FA Cup games of the 2009/10 season take place, which is currently scheduled to run from 15 August 2009 until 22 May 2010. Note that matches before 15 August 2009 DO NOT count for scoring purposes;
"Starting XI League" means the background league comprised of each Manager's original starting selection upon Application;
"Super League" means any league that is set up by a Manager comprising five or more different valid team selections;
"Website" means

"TFFCH" means Telegraph Fantasy Football Championship;
"TMG" means Telegraph Media Group Limited, the promoter of the Competition, whose registered office is located at 111 Buckingham Palace Road, London, SW1W 0DT.
"GFM" means GFM Holdings Limited, the provider of the Competition on TMG's behalf, whose registered office is located at 42 Phoenix Court, Hawkins Road, Colchester, Essex CO2 8JY.
2. ELIGIBILITY2.1 "How to enter" and any other instructions detailed in advertisements for TFFCH on
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fantasyfootball or in any other TMG publication shall form part of the terms and conditions of this Competition.
2.2 By entering this Competition you agree to be legally bound by such terms and conditions. Entry to this Competition is restricted to residents of the UK, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and Northern Ireland. GFM and TMG employees, or those employed by GFM's and TMG's subsidiaries and anyone else connected with the Competition may enter but shall not be eligible to claim any of the prizes or appear in any published leaderboard or be part of a Super League which is eligible to win any of the prizes.
2.3 All entrants to TFFCH must be aged 18 or over. We reserve the right to take steps to verify your age.
3. HOW TO ENTER3.1 Applications to participate in TFFCH can only be made via the internet.
3.2 Online applications should be submitted using the official game site at
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fantasyfootball. On-line applications must be submitted no later than the first scheduled kick-off on Saturday, August 15, 2009 in order to score points during the first scoring match. Thereafter, entries received prior to the earliest scheduled kick-off each day, will be eligible for points scored that day. Entries received after the earliest scheduled kick-off will be eligible for points scored from the following day. Points will not be backdated.
3.3 Entry to TFFCH costs £4 for one team and a manager may enter any number of teams. Neither TMG nor GFM shall be responsible for applications lost in transmission or received late due to high on-line traffic levels. We recommend that registration and transfers are not left until just before the published deadlines.
3.4 Please note that some banks and building societies may make an additional charge for playing fantasy games online. Entrants should check with their bank or building society prior to entry.
3.5 All registrations are subject to acceptance by GFM on TMG's behalf. GFM will confirm such acceptance to you, on behalf of TMG, by on-line electronic means (the "Confirmation"). There will be no contract of any kind between you and TMG unless and until you receive a Confirmation.
4. TEAM NAMES4.1 TMG reserves the right to refuse to accept any team names or Super League names which have been duplicated or are felt, in TMG's sole discretion, to be inappropriate or offensive. Unsuitable names shall be deleted or amended and the team or Super League shall appear under the Manager's or the Chairman's name. Team names that include website addresses shall also be deleted or amended.
5. PLAYER SELECTION LIST5.1 The players included on the selection list and their values have been determined arbitrarily. Player values remain constant throughout the Competition. TMG shall not enter into any correspondence relating to details of the selection list, nor will it accept the inclusion into a team of any player not on the selection list. New players may be introduced into the Competition by TMG as and when appropriate. These will be listed from time to time on
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fantasyfootball. Players will not be removed.
6. PLAYER SELECTION6.1 Managers' team selections must consist of 11 players chosen from the selection list. The combined total value of your 11 player team selection must not exceed £30 million at any time throughout the Competition. The team of 11 must include 1 goalkeeper and 4 defenders plus either 3 midfielders and 3 strikers (4-3-3), 4 midfielders and 2 strikers (4-4-2), 3 defenders, 5 midfielders and 2 strikers (3-5-2) or 4 defenders, 5 midfielders and 1 striker (4-5-1). Managers may switch between formations by making transfers..
6.2 A player can only be selected once at any one time - player duplication is not permitted. There is no restriction on the number of players chosen from the same club.
6.3 Managers not wishing to select their own team but wishing to participate in the Competition may do so by clicking the auto team-select button during the application process. The computer will select a team at random and details of that selection will be shown on-screen.
6.4 Managers of valid team selections that give an email address will receive team confirmation by electronic mail but should be aware that some ISP's and central servers have 'fire walls' or other blocking software, which do not allow distribution of game related communications. Entries will not be confirmed by post.
7. SCORING POINTS7.1 Points will be awarded in all Football League Championship and FA Cup matches played from Saturday, August 15, 2009 until and including the final play-off match, scheduled for Saturday, May 22, 2010. Abandoned matches: points scored from abandoned matches will not count towards any scoring in the Competition.
7.2 Points will be awarded and deducted per match as follows: Player featured in starting XI +2, substitute appearance +1, goal scored (excluding penalty shoot-outs) +5, sent off -5, yellow card -2 (2 yellow cards leading to a red card will count -5), own goal -3, scored penalty in a penalty shoot-out +3, missed penalty (including penalty shoot-outs) - 3. For defenders and goalkeepers only: clean sheet (players completing full match only) +4, clean sheet (players completing part of a match only) +2, goal conceded -1. For goalkeepers only: penalty save (including penalty shoot-outs) +5 (for these points to be awarded the goalkeeper must have prevented the penalty from being scored with some part of his body). The judges' decision shall be final and TMG will not enter into any correspondence regarding points deducted or allocated to players. Scores will be updated weekly, online at

8. TRANSFERS8.1 Managers may alter their teams by effecting transfers, which may be actioned online. A total of 40 transfers are available during the Competition. Managers may use as many of their 40 allocated transfers as they choose during any given week. Transfers beyond the maximum number allowed will be rejected.
8.2 Online transfers may be made by logging on at
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fantasyfootball. Transfer requests made online shall be acknowledged via on-screen confirmation. TMG shall not be responsible for transfer applications lost in transmission or received late due to high online traffic levels. We recommend that registration and transfers are not left until just before the published deadlines.
8.3 Transfers may be submitted at any time after the first scheduled kick-off on Saturday, August 15, 2009 until the scheduled kick-off of the last match of the season.
8.4 Players must be transferred before the earliest scheduled kick-off on any match day in order to score points on that day. Players transferred after the earliest scheduled kick-off on any day will score points as from the following match day. With all transfers, Managers must ensure that their teams continue to meet the selection criteria (see point 6). Once submitted, transfer requests cannot be altered under any circumstances.
8.5 In addition to the transfer allocation above, a transfer amnesty shall operate from July, 2009 until first kick-off on Saturday, August 15, 2009 which allows Managers to make any number of changes to their line-up.
9. SUPER LEAGUES9.1 Entry into TFFCH shall give Managers the opportunity to form their own private league ("Super League"). A minimum of five participants (there is no maximum) may enter a Super League, one of whom must be nominated as the chairman ("Chairman").
9.2 Once a team has joined a Super League it is not possible for that entry to be moved into another Super League. Any Super League containing two or more identical teams will be rejected.
9.3 Super Leagues can be entered via
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/fantasyfootball. This facility allows applicants to register their team to the Super League individually. A Chairman must first register the Super League and his/her own team. The Chairman will select a Super League name and password which must be given (in exactly the form it appears) to all potential participants to that Super League. The Chairman will be the recipient of all correspondence relating to their Super League.
9.4 In order to score points from the first match, Super League applications must be received by the first scheduled kick-off on Saturday, August 15, 2009. There are no prizes awarded for Super Leagues.
10. PRIZESOverall
10.1 £10,000 will be awarded at the end of the competition to the Manager whose team is placed at the top of the TFFCH league table. The prize will be awarded to the Manager whose team has amassed the highest number of points in the league after all the matches within TFFCH are complete. The final match is scheduled to be played on Saturday, May 22, 2010.
10.2 The Manager whose team finishes with the second highest number of points in the league shall win £1,000.
10.3 The Managers whose teams finish with the third highest number of points shall win £500.
10.4 The Managers whose teams finish with the, fourth to tenth highest number of points shall each win £100.
Manager of the Month
10.5 Managers shall also compete for a Manager of the Month prize. This shall consist of a monthly prize of £100 awarded to the Manager whose team has amassed the greatest number of points in the previous month. There are 8 monthly prizes in all. Month 1 - August 15, 2009 to September 28, 2009 (treated as a single month for the purposes of the Competition), Month 2 - September 29, 2009 to October 26, 2009, Month 3 – October 27, 2009 to November 30, 2009, Month 4 – December 1, 2009 to December 28, 2009, Month 5 – December 29, 2009 to January 25, 2010, Month 6 – January 26, 2010 to March 1, 2010, Month 7 – March 2, 2010 to March 29, 2010, Month 8 – March 30, 2010 to April 26, 2010. In the event of a tie, the prize will be divided equally between the tying Managers. An individual Manager may win the monthly prize on no more than one occasion during the Season, regardless of the number of teams entered by that Manager. In the event that a Manager scores the most points on an additional occasion, the prize will be awarded to the Manager who has scored the second highest number of points that month and so on until the monthly winner is a Manager who has not previously won the monthly prize.
Manager of the Week
10.6 Managers shall also compete for a Manager of the Week prize. This shall consist of a weekly prize of £50 to the Manager whose team has amassed the greatest number of points in the previous week of the game (Tuesday to Monday period). The first weekly prize will be awarded for points scored up to and including Monday, August 24, 2009 and weekly thereafter until Monday, May 24, 2010. Prizes will not be awarded for weeks in which no points have been scored, for example, because International fixtures have been played. In the event of a tie, the prize will be rolled over into the following week and prizes will be awarded to the Managers in first and second places for the relevant weekly prize in that rollover week. An individual Manager may win a Manager of the Week prize on no more than one occasion during the Season, regardless of the number of teams entered by that individual Manager.
Additional Prizes: Golden Boot
10.7 The Golden Boot prize of £200 will be awarded to the Manager of the team that has scored the highest number of goals during the Season. In the event of a tie, the prize will be divided equally amongst the tied Managers
10.8 TMG may introduce additional prizes during the Competition. These will be in addition to the prizes outlined above. In the event that TMG does introduce additional prizes, it will ensure that Managers are made aware of any additional terms and conditions as may be applicable.
Tie Break for Cash Prizes
10.9 In the event of a tie, preference will be given to the Manager whose team has scored the most goals. If the result is still a tie, preference will be given to the Manager whose team has achieved the most Assists, and thereafter the most clean sheets. If clear positions for the prize winners still do not emerge, the tied Managers will be required to write a job advertisement for the next Chairman of the LMA in no more than 50 words in English. The decision of TMG's judges regarding this tie-breaker shall be final and binding.
10.10 In relation to all of the prizes listed above, TMG's decision in all prize matters shall be final. Winners will be notified in writing. There are no prize alternatives and the prizes are not transferable. Winners may be required to co-operate with reasonable publicity. Winners' names will be published on

11. GENERAL11.1 TMG reserve the right to refuse to accept any Application which in TMG's opinion does not comply with these Terms or which contravenes the spirit of the Competition.
11.2 TMG's decision in all Competition-related matters shall be final. Winners will be notified in writing within a reasonable time following a decision by TMG and prizes will be despatched within 28 days of such notification and payable by way of cheque. There are no prize alternatives and the prizes are not transferable.
11.3 Winners' names, TFFCH team selections and photographs and any comments made in relation to a prize, may be used by TMG without limitation for future promotional, marketing and publicity purposes, in all and any media worldwide without notice and without any fee being paid. Entry and participation in the Competition will be deemed to be your acceptance of these Terms.
11.4 The name "Telegraph Fantasy Football", other trade marks, images and logos relating to the Promoter and the Competition and used in relation to the Competition are the exclusive property of TMG and your participation in the Competition does not confer any rights to you in or over, or grant you any right to use the aforementioned intellectual property of TMG.
11.5 GFM and TMG shall not be liable for any loss or damage whatsoever which is suffered by any person as a result of, or in connection with, or arising from the Competition, any prize, or these Terms, or the use of the same except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law.
